Forty-nine members of the Keener family enjoyed a reunion Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Merlyn Keener. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Elden Devore and son and Miss Barbara Williamson of Paden City , W. Va. ; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schmory and sons of Cuyahoga Falls ; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stone of Zoarville; Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Keener and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Keener and sons of Parral; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kneppelt and family and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Keener and family of New Philadelphia; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Porter, Mrs. Blanche Porter, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben C. Keener and son, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Keener and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Keener and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jackson, all of Dover. KEENER 50th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. George Keener, who were married June 24, 1914, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary with open house for friends and relatives Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. in their home at 228 Shafer Ave., Dover.
Mrs. Keener, the former Iva Porter, daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Porter of near Strasburg, and Mr. Keener, son of the late John and Sadie Keener of near Zoarville, were married in St. John's United Church of Christ at Dover with Rev. D. J. Helmkamp as officiant.
Following the open house a picnic will be attended by the couple's children and their families: John D. of RD 3, Joe P. and Reuben E. of RD 2, Arthur P. and Mrs. Robert (Kathleen) Jackson of Dover; Merlyn H. of RD 1, Mineral City; Mrs. Walter (Dorothy) Barker of New Philadelphia, and Mrs. Eldon (Ruth) DeVore of Marietta. There are 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Keener, a former employe of Robinson Clay Products in Parral and the U.S. Quarry Tile Co. in East Sparta, retired about 9 years ago.
He takes care of the yard at their home while Mrs. Keener enjoys crocheting and embroidering. And of course they both can find time to "lend a helping hand" when the children or grandchildren need it. They are members of South Moravian Church. KEENER 57th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. George Keener of 228 Shafer av., Dover, will observe their 57th wedding anniversary Thursday. The former Iva Porter of Strasburg and George were married June 24, 1914, in St. John's Evangelical Church by Rev. D. J. Helmkamp. Family Honors George Keeners
The 60th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. George (Iva Porter) Keener of 228 Shafer av., Dover, was observed Monday with a family get-together in their home. Over 50 attended. The couple was married June 24, 1914 in St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church (now United Church of Christ) in Dover. Rev. Theodore Schlundt officiated. All the couple's eight children attended the observance. They are Mrs. Elden (Ruth) Devore of Marietta, Mrs. Walter (Dorothy) Barker of New Philadelphia, John D. (Dave), Joe and Reuben of RD 2, Mrs. Robert (Kathleen) Jackson and Arthur of Dover, and Merlyn of Bolivar. Twenty-two grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren complete the family.
