Marysville, Oh, Jan 11 -
Bryce Hallwood and Frank Humes, of Franklin
County, arrested in Columbus for chloroforming Samuel Wise and wife in Jerome
township, and then robbing them, were brought to Marysville, this afternoon by
Marshal Murphy of this city.
Mrs. Wise identified them among several prisoners in the Franklin County
jail. They had the alleged stolen money on their persons, some chloroform, the
hankerchief used and three large revolvers, with one of which they are said to
have shot Wise.
Humes and Hallwood were arraigned before Mayor Hamilton last night. They waived examination, were held to the grand jury and placed in jail. The grand jury is now in session. Charles Collins, a boy aged 15, of Kenton, who rode to Columbus with the men, was also brought here and placed in the county jail as a witness. Hallwood is said to have served a term in the penitentiary for highway robbery and Humes for postoffice robbery. Wise is a wealthy farmer and it is supposed the robbers thought he had a large amount of money in the house. Hallwood was released from the penitentiary last Saturday. Mrs. Wise escaped in her stocking feet in the snow last night and running a mile and a half to a neighbor's house, notified the Marysville Marshal of the robbery.
