of the Warren High School The
graduaitng class of the Warren High School gave a very pleasant
entertainment at the Presbyterian church on last Friday evening.
The class of the present year consists of the Misses Angie Peck,
Sally H. Woods, Rita E. Hucke, Jenny M. Adams, Rosa A. Barringer, Grace
H. Reid, Louise M. Dietz, Josie C. DeForest, Etta S. Adams, Clara J.
Biggin, and Masters Burt Downs, John S. Cadwalader, Frank B. Minor and
Tryon G. Dunham. If this
year's class is a sample of what our High School is doing for us, we
think Warren is to be congratulated.
For in substantial attainments, refined deportment, and the
pleasing manner in which they acquitted themselves in public, elicited
remarks of commendation from all present.
Miss Angie Peck, the President, in her opening address acquitted
herself in a highly creditable manner, that would have done honor to
even a more experienced speaker. The
Latin recitation from Ovid, by Mr. J. S. Cadwalader, and German
recitation, by Miss Louise M. Dietz, showed great profieiency in these
branches of language, and the oration by Miss Barringer contained many
points of excellence, seldom heard in school exhibitions.
The Class Chronciles by Miss Rita Hucke and Miss Sally Woods,
imitating Biblical language, were well prepared and highly entertaining
to the audience. The musical
part of the programme was excellent.
Mrs. Philips, Mrs. Kneelaud, Messrs. H. M. Stone and G. Byard
representing our home talent in several well rendered peices.
But the audience were treated to a musical feast rarely enjoyed
in Warren, by Miss Emma Howe, of Boston, who kindly consented to sing on
this occasion. At the
conclusion of the exercises the class partook of a banquet in the church
parlors, when toasts, responses, etc., which were indulged in, added
sparkling wit and fun to the enjoyment of the occasion.
