BUELL - NYE
Marietta, Ohio, Oct. 22, 1892 - There were married in St. Luke's Episcopal Church here at noon today Mr. Daniell Hand Buell, a great-grandson of General Buell, of Washington's staff, and Miss Ellen Lewis Nye, a great-grandniece of Georege Washington. The church, which was beautifully decorated, was crowded with the descendants of old Revolutionary families. Miss Nye is a petite brunette and a good linguist and has travelled abroad. Her father is president of the Marietta National Bank and a well known manufacturer. Mr. Buell is a very popular man. The couple after their marriage started for New York. Miss Nye is a great grandniece of Martha Washington as well as of the General. Miss Nye's great-grandfather was General Tupper, who, curiously enough, preferred charges against General Buell. The two families, the Washingtons and the Buells, were present at the settlement of Marietta by Washington's officers and received a large portion of the Western Reserve as the reward of their patriotism during the Revolutionary War. They have lived next door to each other, their houses adjoining for over a century.[New York Herald (New York, NY), Issue 297, Page 21, October 23, 1892]

Reid of Denton, Md., on Saturday Nov. 13, in Lakewood Baptist Churdh. The bride was attended by Mrs. Ray Hendershot, matron of honor, and by little Gayle Hendershot, who served as flower girl. Mr. Ray Hendershot was best man for the bridegroom and ringbearer was Thomas Hendershot. A reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Robertson, 1532 Westwood Avenue, Lakewood and was followed by a wedding dinner at Kaase's Restaurant for the bridal party and a few close friends.
