James Glines
FATAL CASUALTY
Marietta, O., Aug. 18:  Mr. James Glines, a young man, seventeen years of age, son of our near neighbors was unfortunately killed in the woods by the falling of a tree upon him between two and three miles from home on the 16th instant. His father and brother were falling a large tree, two feet seven inches in diameter, which came across another tree about thirty five feet distant, standing in a leaning position. The weight of the top of the falling tree served to balance the butt and threw it round eight feet to where the young man was standing; knocking him down and fell across his hips, about 2 1/2 feet from the butt. He retained his life and senses during the time they were cutting the tree off to relieve him and conversed freely with those around - but as soon as the log was removed from him he expired.-Gazette.
