May 25, 1919

Lucian G. Brown, 70, died at the City hospital, Lima, Saturday evening at 6 o'clock, following an illness of two weeks. Death resulted from a complication of diseases. He leaves a widow, one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Miller, Carey, and five sons, Walter L. 416 east Albert street, Lima, Merle E., Earnest C., Orel and Floyd Brown, of Carey. The body will be accompanied to Carey where burial will be made.

Mrs. Hubert Gregg, 82, a former resident of Upper Sandusky, died Monday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Blair Wyker, near Fredricktown. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Wyker home. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Surviving children are Mrs. Wyker, Helen Gregg of Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Mary Ellis of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Harriet Stokley of Palo Alto, Calif., Richard Gregg of Toledo and Dr. R. W. Gregg, of Wakeman, O.

CAREY - Audie (Jack) May, 78, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Indian Trail Nursing Home foiowing an extended illness. He was a retired coal miner. Survivors include his wife, the
former Catherine Cook of Lima; two daughters, Ethel Rice of Falcon, Ky. and Mrs. Earl (Eva) Caudill of Carey; a son, Jack May Jr. of Lima; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, north of Carey. Friends may call after 7 tonight and anytime Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer
Society.

Tom Holdcraft, of Sycamore, went to rejoice in the Lord on Sunday morning, Oct. 8, 2006 .

He was born in Bucyrus, May 27, 1944, to Howard and Emmalena Fern (Scheff) Holdcraft. His mother survives. Also surviving are a brother, Jerry (Paula) Holdcraft of Bucyrus; a sister, Diane Pratt of Carey; two nieces, Kelly (Tom) Froehle, and Stacey Rock; two nephews, Chad (Bursby) and Rodney (Angie) Bursby, Carey.

Tom attended Eden , Nevada , and Mohawk High School. Tom was married to Carolyn (Burey) Smith and has a son Kristopher (wife Wendy) Holdcraft of Attica; one granddaughter, Brittany Holdcraft; two stepdaughters, Tammy (Dan) Risner of Carey, and Dawn Zarcone of Bucyrus; and stepgrandchildren, Grant and Olivia Risner, Katy, Joshua, Jeremy, Kyle Zarcone and Shelby and Katlin Morgan.

He married Marlene (Rose) Nolen, she died in 2000. While married to Marlene he enjoyed life with stepchildren Fred (Vickie) Nolen of Bucyrus, David Nolen of Nevada, Karen (Tom) Painter of Fostoria, Kalvin Nolen of McCuthenville, Teresa (Don) Mayes of Bucyrus, Patty Fishpaw of Bucyrus.

His grandchildren are Angela Fortner, Cory Nolen, Todd Dunn, Travis Zeigler, Nicholas and Nathen Fishpaw; and great-grandchildren are Cole, Caden, and Dylan Fortner.

On Oct. 21, 2000 , he married Janis (Niederhauser) Holdcraft and has enjoyed life with step-children Teresa (Ron) Bailey of Nevada, Scott (Rhonda) McKinniss of Greenville, Mary R. Patrick of Bucyrus. Their grandchildren are James (Eryn)Tong of Carey, Joshua (Jennifer) Tong of Carey, Jessica Tong, Michelle Bailey of Nevada, Shelbee, Michaela, and Monica McKinniss of New Washington, Tyler Scott McKinniss of Greenville, and Neva and Adelia Patrick of Bucyrus. Tom has two great-grandsons, Joseph and Jayce Tong, both of Carey. He was also adopted as a grandpa by Ramona and Avanta Seaburn, and Carrie and Matthew McKinny.

He was an adopted dad and grandpa to many foster children. He drove semi for many years, and most recently was employed by HyWay Trucking out of Findlay .

He loved camping and fishing, spending time with the family, cookouts, and helping anyone who needed help. Most of all he enjoyed following NASCAR, sprint racing and being a Dodge fan. Tom was well known among the racing circuit of "hobby-stock cars," winning many races in car No. 39.

He was a past member of the Coon Hunters Association of Nevada and Rogers Lake Conservation Club. He was a current member of the Bucyrus Moose Lodge.

Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky . Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and officiated by the Rev. Rick Dawson. Burial will be private at a later date.

Memorials may be given to Wyandot County Home Health and sent to Lucas Batton Funeral Home at 476 S. Sandusky, Upper Sandusky , OH 43351.

Ross D. Riedel, 94, formerly of 7671 Marion-Melmore Road , Sycamore, died Oct 8, 2006,  at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky .

Riedel was born in Sycamore Township , Wyandot County ,Feb 10, 1912,  to Wooster Augustus Riedel and Verna Ellen (Ohl) Riedel. He married Emma Louise Steinhilber on Sept. 24, 1939 . She died June 22, 1990 .

He also married Bonnie Wolford and they later were divorced.

Mr. Riedel is survived by two sons, Dana (Jean) Riedel of Sycamore, and Van (Cathy) Riedel of Crestline; daughters, Paula (Dale) Kirkpatrick of Newberry Springs, Calif., Anita (David) Wurm of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Angela Haake, Monte Riedel, Christopher and Cory Kirkpatrick, Gayle and Connor Riedel, Mackenzie Harris, David, Cecilia and Gus Wurm; great-grandchildren, Ysabella and Kason Wurm, and Victoria and Amber Kirkpatrick.

He is also survived by a brother, Dale Riedel of Bucyrus, and a sister, Marjorie Bookmyer of Sycamore.

Mr. Riedel was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil and Robert Riedel, and two sisters, Cora Swerline and Onolea Reidel.

He was a retired dairy farmer and did custom farming in the neighborhood. He also worked at Webster's Manufacturing and American Standard, both in Tiffin . He also did carpentry work, worked at Swan Rubber in Bucyrus and Wyandot and Dolomite in Carey. He was a 60-year member of the Plankton United Methodist Church .

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army, and received numerous medals for his action in combat: Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal with Germany clasp, Honorable Service lapel button for WWII, Marksman Badge with carbine bar and rifle bar.

Mr Riedel had numerous hobbies and avocations, including being a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, member of the church choir, board of trustees, administrative council. He drove the church bus to pick up people in the area, secretary of Sunday school, member of the Epworth League of the church, member of ASCS.

He also was a member of the Crawford County Republican Central Committee, member Sycamore American Legion Post 250, Gideons International, former Texas Township trustee, former member of the Crawford County Fair Board, church league softball pitcher and former pitcher with the Sycamore PeeWee baseball program. He also ran for Crawford County commissioner. He loved to pitch horseshoes and bowl and attended Red College . He was a former caretaker at Benton Cemetery and caretaker for the Crawford County Humane Society. Mr Riedel was also an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns.

Friends can call from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore, where services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Sycamore.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Plankton United Methodist Church , Gideon International or to the donor's choice.

A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Post 250.

Richard F. Daiber, 74, of Nevada , died at 6:10 p.m. Oct 11, 2006, in the Intensive Care Unit of Marion General Hospital.

He was born in Tod Township Jan 22, 1932,, Crawford County .

Dick graduated from Nevada High School in 1949 and owned and operated Daiber Excavating in Nevada for 40 years before retiring in 1997. He continued to help his son, Chuck, the present owner, with the business. He also served as water superintendent for the village of Nevada for 26 years.

He married Joyce Heinlen on Aug. 30, 1952 , in the Nevada Lutheran Church , and she survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Chuck Daiber of Nevada , Ohio , and his special friend, Jane Fischer; Jerry and his wife, Melanie Daiber of Nevada ; one daughter, Debbie and her husband, John Kellogg, of Nevada ; five grandchildren, Jason (Lisa) Daiber of Marion; Julie Daiber of Marion ; Shandell (Ben) Dilgard of Bloomville; Shannon Dunlap of Nevada and Shawn Dunlap of Nevada .

He was a member of the Lutheran faith, a 50-year member of the Nevada Lodge 343 F&AM; retired member of the Nevada Volunteer Fire Department and served in the National Guard. Dick enjoyed landscaping and working on his water garden; model railroads and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence L.W. "Bill," Cletus, Paul and Raymond Daiber, and two sisters, Iva Dai-ber and Mary Knappenberger.

Visitation will be Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home, Nevada . Masonic service will be 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lucas Batton Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery .

Memorials can be made to the Nevada Lutheran Church and/or the American Cancer Society and can be sent to Lucas Batton Funeral Home, P.O. Box 98 , Nevada , Ohio 44849.

Dorothy E. Clinger, 82, of Upper Sandusky , died at 5:45 p.m. Oct 14, 2006,. She was born Jan 26, 1924,  in Arlington , Ohio to Roy and Rebecca Lenora (Wolford) Tewell. Both are deceased.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky and one hour prior to funeral services Thursday at Wesley Chapel of the United Methodist Church in rural Upper Sandusky.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday and officiated by Rev. Tim Benjamin and Rev. Elaine Sturtz. Burial will be in Chandler Cemetery .

Memorials may be given to WXML Christian Radio and may be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476. S. Sandusky Ave. , Upper Sandusky , Ohio 43351
