The state IOOF and Rebekahs sponsored two homes: in 1901 a home for orphans and elderly was constructed on a 153-acre farm near Checotah in I.T. On April 26, 1907, a home for orphans, situated on a 160-acre farm at Carmen, O.T., was dedicated.  The Masonic Lodge was concerned about children of their members who might be left without care in case they were orphaned. Thus there was a need for a cemetery nearby in instances of deaths and also for relatives of the children. This cemetery was established near the IOOF Orphans home at Carmen, Oklahoma.  To go to this cemetery, leave from the corner of the Carmen school go one and one half miles north.    1933 census; The Odd Fellow's Home, No Address; Residential care under Fraternal auspices, for 94 dependent white and Indian children , age 6-18; also in Checatoh, Ok.   1923 census:  Oklahoma Odd Fellows Home, No Address;  160 white children; under auspices of the I. O. O. F.; established in 1906.  Headstone pics are available upon request.
