Other Towns Will Contest Locating Courthouse at Walters
Date: 1912-08-30; Paper: Tulsa World
Governor Cruce issued a proclamation as a result of the reaction to create Cotton County out of a part of Comanche
County declaring that it is now a bona fide county and is entitled to all the privileges of other counties. Walters
is made the temporary county seat. That town and Ranlett have filed as candidates for the permanent county seat.
Temple is also a candidate and a "New Jerusalem" project is being discussed.
