Larry 'Dean' LeeGraveside service for Larry "Dean" Lee, 62, of Ninnekah, Oklahoma will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Ninnekah Cemetery.LARRY "DEAN" LEE was born February 14, 1947 in Ninnekah, Oklahoma the son of Hilburn Newton and Eva Mae (Carel) Lee. He died May 25, 2009 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.Dean lived in Grady County in the Ninnekah area all of his life. He was a truck driver. He and Linda Mutz were married, and she preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Dean worked hard all of his life to take care of his kids and family. Dean was also preceded in death by: Parents, 1 infant child, 1 brother and 2 sisters.Survivors include: Best Friend: Judy, 1 son: Jeff and Kathey Lee of Blanchard, OK and their family, Santana Lee, Maegan Griggs and husband, D.J. and Checotah Lee, 2 great grandchildren: Cyleigh and Cayleb Griggs, 1 stepson: Luke Mutz and Samantha of Alex, OK, Daughter: Keturah Hill and Chris of Norman, OK and their children Jordan, Rylen, Blake and Brooklyn, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.Interment will be in the Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Funeral service for Larry Eugene 'Flea' Conder, 59, of Chickasha, Oklahoma were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 29,2008 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. LARRY EUGENE 'FLEA' CONDER was born February 27,1949 in Chickasha, Oklahoma and died December 23,2008 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Larry lived in Chickasha his entire life and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1967. He also attended Southwestern. Larry served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam from 1970-1971. He owned his own truck and also drove for Hoffman Trucking. He was preceded in death by: His mother: Ruby Conder in 1990. Survivors include: 1 daughter: Charlotte Conder of Mustang, 1 grandson: Skyler Conder of Mustang, Father: Delmer Conder and wife, Lila, of Chickasha, 1 sister: Dee Threadgill and husband, Scotty, of Chickasha, Half sister: Phyllis Jean Jones of San Jose, CA, Nephews: Larry Threadgill and wife, Lesli, James Threadgill and wife, Nicole, Charlotte's mother: Kathy Conder-Maggard of Yukon. Interment was held in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Memorial services for Orville Edward Williams, 81, of Chickasha, will be held Monday, August 27,2007, at Epworth United Methodist Church of Chickasha at 4th & Iowa, at 2 p.m. This will be preceded by a lite lunch for those friends who would like to enjoy a time of fellowship with the family, this will be in the Life Center at the church beginning at 12:30. Ed Williams was born September 5,1925 in Wichita, KS, and died at his home on August 22, 2007. Ed married his childhood sweetheart Doris Palmer on March 14,1944. Ed graduated from Wichita North High School then served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He then attended and graduated from Bethany Peniel College. Ed then spent the next 18 years of his life ministering at several Nazarine churches throughout the country. He then went on to serve as Administrator at Methodist Hospital in Houston,TX. He then served as pastor at several Methodist churches before going on to be field director for the United Methodist Foundation, Oklahoma Conference. A position which he enjoyed until retiring in 1994 when he and Doris settled in Chickasha. He was preceded in death by, his mother Ellen Eliza Ewing Williams, father Homer Ray Williams, brother Sterling Wesley Williams, and nephew Daniel Williams. Survivors include, his wife of 63 years Doris Palmer Williams; one brother Homer Ray Williams Jr. of Cordell, OK.; son Douglas Gene Williams and wife Kathy of Norman; son Michael Edward Williams; and wife Terri of Norman; son Donald Ray Williams of Chickasha; daughter Janet Lynn Williams-Loomis and husband Kevin of Chickasha. There are thirteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and his legacy will live on for many generations. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Womens Organization of Epworth United Methodist Church of Chickasha.
Funeral service for George W. Anderson, 92, of Alex, Oklahoma will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Alex High School Auditorium. George Anderson was born February 22, 1917 in Hobart, Oklahoma the son of W. D. and Grace (Underwood) Anderson. He died May 21, 2009 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. George moved to Grady County with his family in a covered wagon. He graduated from Meridian High School and attended Central State Universityin Edmond. George served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He farmed with his brother, Charlie, in the Alex area for over 60 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Alex and was a member of the Alex United Methodist Church. George was a beloved uncle who loved to tell storiesand jokes and pass along his words of wisdom.He was preceded in death by: Parents; Brother and sister-in-law: Charlie and Nadine Anderson; Brother: J.D. Anderson; Niece: Joy Charlene Anderson; Nephew: Charles L. Anderson, Jr. Survivors include: Nieces and nephews: Gayle and Bob Sayre of Memphis, TN, Phyllis Goyne of Alex, Park and Beth Anderson of Alex; Great nieces and nephews: Dee Tarode and son of Memphis, TN; Betsy and Randy Wolgemuth and family of Lancaster, PA; Mark and Carrie Anderson and family of Alex; Tracy and Shannon Goyne and family of Alex; Kristen and Jeff Clark and son of Newcastle; Stacie Goyne of Ft. JAMES “JIM” CHAPMAN Jim attended schools at Binger, Tuttle and graduated from Capital Hill High School in Oklahoma City in 1953, and Married Wanda Jo Wright of Tribby in October 1953 at the Exchange Ave. Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. They resided in Oklahoma City until 1970, then moved to Tuttle where he was a self-employed as a TV Repairman then employed at Sears as a Electronic Tech and retired Chickasha, Oklahoma in 1997. He was a Member of the Masonic Lodge. He is preceded in death by; both parents. Surviving Family include: Wife, Wanda J. Chapman of the home: two Daughters: Debra A Davison of Tuttle, Oklahoma: Carol R. Williams of Chickasha, Oklahoma: one Son: Charles A. WINIFRED GARLAND (W.G.) CUNNINGHAM
Funeral services for Winifred Garland (W.G.) Cunningham, 78, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2008, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. W.G. Cunningham was born March 30, 1929, in Chickasha, the son of Garland and Belvia (Stephens) Cunningham. He died February 6, 2008, in Chickasha. On January 6, 1947, at the age of 17, Winifred married the love of his life, RuJoyce (Hubbard) in Childress, Texas. They were blessed with five children and enjoyed each others companionship for over 60 wonderful years. Winifred was a master cabinet maker and ran his family business for over 30 years. In later years, he devoted all his time and efforts to making custom furniture for his family and friends. His personal goal was to make each of his thirteen grandchildren their own unique piece and he accomplished this remarkable task before his passing. Winifred was extremely proud of his five childrens accomplishments: Larry served twenty years in the Army; Clinton took over the custom family business; Stanley had his own electrical contract company; Barbara and Loretta raised their children and went on to their own careers. Winifred was preceded in death by both parents; wife, RuJoyce Cunningham; son, Stanley Cunningham. He is survived by one brother, William and Sylvia Cunningham, of Chickasha; two sisters: Alta Dever, of Roswell, New Mexico and Georgia and Lloyd Howeth, of Terrel, Texas; two sons: Larry and Shirley Cunningham, of Chickasha; Clinton and Tressa Cunningham, of Golead, Texas; two daughters: Loretta and Larry Bean and Barbara and Clipper Carpenter, all of Alamogordo, New Mexico; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Winifred accepted Christ as his Savior at Lucile Baptist Church 60 years ago. Interment will be in the Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. Jetta Doyle was born the daughter of Rev. Marion Milburn and Emma Clark Milburn on May 25, 1918 in Harrisburg, Oklahoma. She died on February 3, 2008 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Jetta married Smith “Smitty” Doyle on July 8, 1937 in Duncan, Oklahoma. In 1950, they moved to Chickasha where Jetta worked as the secretary for her husbands upholstery business and sold Merle Norman Cosmetics. She later opened a custom drapery business. Jetta was active in the community as a member of the PTA, Rebecca Lodge, Grady Memorial Hospital Auxilliary, and the Floribunda Club. She was also a very active member of the Epworth United Methodist Church where she was involved with the UMW and actively volunteered in the work of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Smitty Doyle; parents, Rev. Marion and Emma Milburn; brothers, Roy Milburn, Bill Milburn, Charlie Milburn, Mansel Milburn and Clarence Milburn; and one sister, Zella Milburn. Chonita M. Jobe, 86, of OKC, join her Heavenly Father on Jan. 30, 2008. She was born May 11, 1921 in Chickasha, OK to Robert W. and Margaret (Tucker) Hall. Chonita was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church. member of Southern Hills Baptist Church. She loved doing genealogy. She enjoyed using computers and was an avid e-mailer. Chonita was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by first husband, Jack Ross and second husband, Grady Jobe; and two great-grandsons, Austin and Aiden. She leaves wonderful memories with her family which includes, a son, Jackie Ross and wife Rita; daughter, Janelle Schmidt and husband Mike; grandchildren, Shannon Fanning and husband Gerald, Darla Bell and husband Tim, Carla Bynum and husband Lance, Courtney Lombard and husband Ryan, Lori Cloud and husband Robert, Brian Schmidt and wife Monica; great-grandchildren, Jenna, Clay, Ethan, Katie, Devon, Kylie, Caleb, Brayden, Cadence, Nikelas, Addison and Grayson; brother, Robert Hall and his family; and an aunt, Dorothy Peterson. She also leaves here extended family from her second husband Grady, which includes Pat and Willie Kinsey, Judy and John Buckler, and Jonita Smith and their families. Visitation from 12-8 PM this evening at Vondel Smith & Sons Mortuary at South Lakes, 4000 SW 119th St. Services to celebrate her live will be 10:00 AM Monday at Vondel Smith & Sons South Lakes Chapel. Committal will be 2:00 PM Monday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha OK. Directed by Vondel Smith/South Lakes.
Funeral services for Ronald Glen South, 37, formerly of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2008, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kim Hayes officiating. Ronald Glen South was born September 28, 1970, in Modesto, California the son of Thomas and Betty South. He died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, in Apple Valley, California. Ron attended Chickasha High School. He later attended nursing school at Oklahoma City Community College where he graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing. He has since worked as a Cardiothoracic/Intensive Care Nurse for the past 7 years. Ron married Kendra Gitthens on March 2, 1990. This union blessed them with three beautiful children: Thomas, Tyler and Sydni. The family had made their home in Chickasha until two years ago when they moved to California for Ron to work a traveling nurse assignment. Ron was a supportive friend and brother, a fantastic nurse and a loving and devoted husband and father. He loved spending time with his family and listening to country music. He also enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels and hats. Ron was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Van. He is survived by his wife, Kendra and their three children, of the home; one brother Jason South and mother and father-in-law: Debbie and Guy Huggins, all of Chickasha; and numerous other family members and friends. Private graveside services for Mickey L. Morlan, 96, of Chickasha , Oklahoma will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 7, 2008, in the Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, in Oklahoma City, with Reverend Kim Hayes officiating. Mrs. Morlan died Thursday, January 3, 2008, in Chickasha. She was born November 9, 1911, in Nat, Texas to Ella Mae Baucom and Frank Whitaker. She married Roy E. Morlan on April 1, 1930. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Richard and Marilyn Fitzpatrick of Chickasha; daughter Gayle Morlan of Plano, Texas; and daughter and son-in-law John and Sandra France of Channel View, Texas; five grandsons and one granddaughter and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and nine brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to Lifeline Hospice of Chickasha at P.O. Box 1348 Chickasha, OK. 73023. Per decedents request there will be no viewing. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
Funeral service for Joe David Smith, age 60, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 31, 2007, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Joe David Smith was born the son of Howard W. Smith and Cleo Reid Smith on January 28, 1947, in Chickasha. He passed away on December 27, 2007, in Oklahoma City after a lengthy hard fought battle with cancer. Joe resided with his parents in Clinton, Oklahoma, for a few years until they returned to Chickasha. He attended school in Chickasha from elementary school through high school graduating from Chickasha High School in 1965. He attended OCLA for one semester and the rest of his college education was in southern California. In March of 1966, Joe enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California. After a tour of duty in Vietnam, Joe returned to Camp Pendleton until his discharge in June of 1969. At this time, Joe began working for Taylor Bus Company. He greatly enjoyed transporting the many disabled and handicapped children. Later Joe drove a transport truck for various companies throughout the west coast region. Joe then went to work for the United States Postal Service in southern California and later transferred to the post office in Oklahoma City where he retired with over twenty years service in December of 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Cleo Smith. Survivors include: Sister: Kay Smith of Chickasha; Sister & Husband: Gayla & Sam Bailey of Ponca City; Nephews: Josh & Jacob Bailey of Edmond. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
Memorial service for Hazel M. Johnson, age 94, of Chickasha will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2007, in the Epworth United Methodist Church. Dr. Rockford Johnson and Rev. Don Horton will officiate. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Rose Hill Cemetery, prior to the memorial service. Everyone is invited to stay for a reception in Hazel’s honor at the church following the memorial service. Hazel was born the daughter of John C. Montgomery and Emma Benge Montgomery on March 20, 1913, in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma. She died on December 28, 2007, in Chickasha. She married John W. Johnson on December 24, 1939, in Cushing, Oklahoma. Hazel attended the Chilocco Indian Boarding School and Bacone Jr. College in Muskogee, then graduated from Northeastern State College (now NSU) at Tahlequah. Hazel taught at Kelley Indian Day School in northeastern Oklahoma and at Carter Seminary in Ardmore during World War II. Hazel later taught at Perry Public Schools. She moved to Chickasha in 1957 and taught at the Grand Avenue and Intermediate Schools. Hazel retired in 1978. Hazel was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church where she served on the administrative board and was a member of United Methodist Women and the Wedding Ring Class. Hazel was also the coordinator of the Emergency Food Pantry since 1984. Governor Brad Henry and Mayor Greg Elliott jointly declared October 21, 2007, "Hazel M. Johnson Day" in honor of her volunteer work. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and her husband, John on September 9, 1973. Survivors include: Daughter: Jackie Jean Johnson Landler of Oklahoma City; Grandson: Jeffrey Scott Lindblad of Shoreview, Minnesota; Granddaughter: Jennifer Benge Lindblad of New York City, New York; Great-Grandson: Pierce Montgomery Lindblad of Cumberland, Wisconsin; Jennifer’s Finance: Rory Keenan of New York City, New York; Sister: Okemah Arey of Tulsa; Sister: Syble Claymore of Gettisburg, South Dakota;l Memorial contributions may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church Building Fund. FLORENCE ALICE HUGHES Florence Alice Hughes was born January 30, 1915 in Sandy Grove, Oklahoma the daughter of John Robert and Ruth Ethel (Rodgers) Neal and died Tuesday, December 11, 2007 in Chickasha. Mrs. Hughes lived in Grady County all of her life. She and Guy Hughes were married July 26, 1933 in Chickasha. He preceded her in death in 1994. In 1949 she was saved and baptized at the same time as her son, Richard. Mrs. Hughes was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alex. Mrs. Hughes was also preceded in death by: one son: Jerry Thomas Hughes in 1988; one daughter: Pauline Abbot December 12, 2007; one great-granddaughter. Survivors include: son and his wife: Richard and Betty Hughes of Hammon, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Interment will be in the Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Graveside service for Glen Edward Sanders, 81, was held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha. Glen Edward Sanders was born December 7, 1926 in Newark, Arkansas the son of John Winford and and Winnnie Mae Sanders and died December 10, 2007 in Chickasha. Glen lived in the Chickasha and Amber areas all of his life. He worked for the City of Chickasha at the airport and park department. Glen served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He and Betty Lou Edon were married May 13, 1949 in Chickasha. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by: Parents; one sister: Margaret Warlick; one son: Glen Edward Sanders, Jr.; one daughter: Linda Lou Sanders. Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law: Lloyd Sanders, Sr. and wife Catherine of Yukon; one brother: Albert Sanders of Chickasha; five grandchildren: Leslie Ann Sanders, Lloyd Ray Sanders, Jr., Tyler Dane Sanders, Brittney Elaine Sanders and Hunter Ray Sanders; 10 great-grandchildren. Interment was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. The casket was closed. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
CHRISTOPHER “BUBBA” LEE CROW Christopher “Bubba” Lee Crow was born March 12, 1971 in Edmond, Oklahoma and died Thursday, September 13, 2007 near Bradley, Oklahoma. He was raised in the Alex area and attended Alex High School where he graduated in 1989. Chris worked at Dayton Tires a few years, drove a truck and was currently working in the oil field, but his true love was driving a truck. He was preceded in death by: one uncle: Danny Gerald Bowen. Chris is survived by: one daughter: Maegan Michelle of Chickasha; Mother and stepfather: Johna and Fred Richardson of Chickasha; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Cara and Roger Richardson of Johnson, KS; Gayla and Danny Briscoe of Chickasha; Dana and Pete Leatherwood of Rush Springs; Cheri and Gene Weber of Chickasha; Grandparents: Johnnie and Elizabeth Bowen of Chickasha; Nieces and nephews: Ashley and Ryan Klaus of Garden City, KS; Amy Richardson of Johnson, Ks; Tori Weber of Chickasha; Kyle and Brittanie Crow of Rush Springs; and Zachary Briscoe of Chickasha; two cousins and their families: Danny, Kellie, Lexi and Aaron Bowen of Springtown, TX; and Johnny Bowen of California. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
BEATRICE McVEY CHARLSON Beatrice was born Monday, June 17, 1929 in Cougar, Oklahoma, to Carl and Rose (Murlin) Topley. Beatrice attended school at Chickasha and Verden. She lived in the Rush Springs and Chickasha area all of her life. Beatrice married Lawerence Charlson on Sept. 27, 1948 in Chickasha, OK. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1996. She loved to be with her children and grandchildren and attended any activities they were in. Beatrice also loved all of her various animals. She took care of and fed many of them. Beatrice was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include, Son, Ole Charlson & wife Diana of Rush Springs, OK; two Daughters, Lori Rodgers & Jeff Franklin of Blanchard, OK; Jeannie Martin & husband Barry of Rush Springs, OK; 13 Grandchildren;13 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Danny Earl Charlson; parents; brother, Benny Topley and a sister, Patsy Goddard.
