DOROTHY STOWE Dorothy moved from Verden to Tuttle and graduated from Tuttle High School. After graduation, she attended Business College in Oklahoma City. She worked at the Bank of Tuttle for four years. She and Lester Stowe were married November 12, 1933 in Tuttle. They moved to Chickasha, and Dorothy worked for Dr. Flagler for four years. She traveled with Lester in the Service and then moved back to Chickasha. Dorothy worked in the County Clerk’s office for 17 years and then with the Washita Valley Abstract Office until her retirement. She was a member of the Church of Christ Dorothy was preceded in death by: Husband: Lester Stowe; Parents: Lawrence and Mamie Hamrick; one brother: Fred Hamrick; one sister: Fern Stewart; one sister-in-law: Ruth Hamrick. Survivors include: four Cousins; Several Nieces and Nephews. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Graveside service for Mildred Imogene Horne, 91, of Edmond, Oklahoma will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 24, 2007 at the Alex Cemetery. Mildred Imogene Horne was born May 16, 1916 and went to be with the Lord September 20, 2007. Mrs. Horne graduated from Alex High School in 1934. She married Morris Horne and they lived in Alex until 1955 and at that time moved to Lindsay and then to Chickasha. After the death of Morris in 1995, She moved to Edmond to be near her son, Jay and his family. Mrs. Horne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Edmond. She was preceded in death by: Her husband: Morris Horne; one daughter: Jacque Horne Lee; Parents: Bill and Ruth Foster; one brother: Bill J. Foster; Survivors include: Her children: Clara Horne Smith and husband Del of Longview, TX; Jay Foster Horne and wife Joyce of Edmond, OK; Grandchildren: Kevin Smith and wife Lori of Dallas, TX; Kristin Smith Halphen and husband David of The Woodlands, TX; Gentry Stambaugh and Katy of Las Vegas, NV; Tyler Stambaugh and wife Erin of Colorado Springs, CO; Jacie Horne Fite and husband Troy of Edmond, OK; Jeremy Horne and Jessica Horne of Edmond, OK; five great-grandchildren. Ellen Jane Arnold Owen, age 84, died Sunday, June 24, 2007 in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 in Robertson Chapel Of Memories with Rev. Lance Wood, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Clarendon, officiating. Burial will be held at 4:00 pm Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha, OK with Johnny Wray, Life Line Hospice Chaplain,officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors. Mrs. Owen was born March 28, 1923 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Harvey and Ruth Tooten Arnold. She was a resident of the Chickasha and Verden, OK area most of her married life and had lived in Clarendon since July 2005. She married Wesley Odell "Shorty" Owen on October 6, 1938 at Lawton,OK. He was a contractor in the Chickasha area most of his life. Mrs. Owen had been an active volunteer in the Girl Scout and Brownie organizations much of her life. She was a member of the Verden Senior Citizens Association and was very involved in most of their activities. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church in Verden, OK. Preceded in death by: her husband on December 7, 1995; a daughter, Jean Arnold on September 7, 2002; and her sister, Norma Taylor in 2005. Survivos include daughter, Susie Dale and husband Frank of Howardwick; four grandchildren, Joe Kerby of Salado, TX; Karla Fowler of Oklahoma City; Sherry Lyons of Amarillo; Frankie Dale of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral service for Mildred Odell Graham, 85, of Noble, Oklahoma will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2007 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Mildred Odell Graham was born August 2, 1921 in Waurika, Oklahoma the daughter of Franklin Burl and Eula Alta (Doggett) Smith and died June 26, 2007 in Noble. She graduated from OCW now USAO. Mrs. Graham lived in Lawton from 1948 to 2007. She taught school at Woodrow Wilson Elementary in Lawton. Mrs. Graham was preceded in death by her husband Edward Lee Graham August 28, 2005. Survivors include:one son and daughter-in-law: Larry and Dixie Graham of Blanchard; two grandchildren: Steven Graham and wife Peggy of Norman; Becky Bowling and husband Tim of Norman; four great-grandchildren: Lauren, Aubrey, Alex and Catherine; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Hazel McCombs of Chickasha; one brother: George Smith of California; Many nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home
Funeral services for Alex Guerrero, 70, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2007, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, with Steve Sanders officiating. Alex Guerrero was born March 13, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Jesus and Clemencia (Agevedo) Guerrero. He died June 29, 2007, at his home in Chickasha. Alex married his wife of 50 years, Josephine (Torralba) Guerrero, on June 7, 1957, in Lawton, Oklahoma. This union blessed them with five children. He served in the U.S. Army for two years, from 1956 to 1958, where he proudly served his country. He worked as a machinist for Chickasha Manufacturing until his retirement. He was active member of the Eagles Lodge for 19 years, where he had served as a past Oklahoma State President, he was inducted into the F.O.E Hall of Fame, and he was currently serving as Sate Father of the F.O.E.. Alex was a dear and special man to all who knew him. He loved his family and friends and was always there for them. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he was very proud of his new great granddaughter, Michaela Rae. He loved gardening and has fed many people with the vegetables from his garden. He was also considered the fix-it-man by many and could fix about anything. Alex had a dream of finding a cure for Diabetes and he had raised many dollars for this charity. If you had the honor of knowing our father and grandpa, you knew one of the greatest men in the world. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers: Juan and Jimmy Guerrero. Survivors include his wife, Josephine, of the home; daughter and son-in-law: Donna and Ray Foster; four sons and daughters-in-law: Alejandro and Michelle Guerrero Jr., John and Tricia Guerrero, Jesse Guerrero, and Andrew and Sherry Guerrero, all of Chickasha; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Eugenia Uribes and Anastacia and Boro Ramos, all of Wauseon, Ohio; and Teresa and John Guzman, of Minneola, Florida; eight grandchildren: Chad and Kristi Foster, Candace Vananda, Pamela, Tylor, Brittany, Marissa, and Andrew “Bubba” Guerrero; great granddaughter, Michaela Rae Elliott; numerous nieces and nephews, including a very close and dear nephew, Roberto “Bobby” Guerrero and family. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
Graveside service for Claude M. Anthony, 83, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 2, 2007 at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Chickasha. Claude M. Anthony was born November 22, 1923 in California the son of Claude and Jewel (Malone) Anthony and died June 28, 2007 in Norman, Oklahoma. Mr. Anthony lived in Chickasha all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He and Mary Jones were married October 8,1977. Mr. Anthony owned and operated a service gas station. He worked as a welder for Tinker Air Force Base for 18 years. He was preceded in death by: Parents: one sister: Lillian Bradford. Survivors include: Wife: Mary Anthony of the home; Children: Janice Christian; Ronnie Anthony; Larry Anthony; Stepchildren: Troy Jones; Beverly Rutledge; Dina Hopkins; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister: Anita Cabler of Bartlesville. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Funeral service for Ann Adwan Wadsworth, age 102 of Norman, Oklahoma formerly of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2007, in the Epworth United Methodist Church. Rev. Rockford Johnson will officiate. Ann was born the daughter of Khalil Adwan and Kahla Farha Adwan on November 28, 1904, in Duke, Indian Territory. She died on June 27, 2007, in Norman. Ann lived in Oklahoma City early in life until moving to Henrietta in her teenage years to live with her brother. She married Evard W. Wadsworth on September 17, 1934, in Oklahoma City and made their home in Henrietta.They moved to Chickasha in 1935, and started Wadsworth Oil Company where she worked as bookkeeper. Several years after she and her husband retired, they moved to Norman. While in Chickasha, Ann was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. After moving to Norman, she was a member of the Goodrich Methodist Church. Ann was involved with the Full Circle Senior Center in Norman. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters, and her husband. Survivors include: Son: Bill Wadsworth of Occidental, California; Daughter: Juneann Murphy of Norman; Granddaughter: Cynthia Sholes of Redwood City, California; Granddaughter: Sally Savino of Murphy, Texas; Granddaughter: Pam Goode of San Francisco, California; Granddaughter: Amanda Ogden of Austin, Texas; Nine Great-Grandchildren. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. The casket will be open at the funeral home, but closed at the service.
Memorial services for Gerald Phillips, 65, of Ninnekah, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2007, in the Grand Assembly of God Church, at 102 W. Almar In Chickasha. Gerald Phillips was born July 6, 1941, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Geneva (Wilson) and Joe Phillips. He passed form this life June 29, 2007. On March 11, 1963, he and Carolyn Trotter were married in Wichita Falls, Texas. Gerald was a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents: Joe and Geneva Phillips; two brothers: Bob Phillips and Gwen Beach. Survivors include his wife Carolyn, of the home; Children: Dennis Phillips, of Tulsa, Lonnie Phillips, of Guthrie, DeWayne Phillips, of Chickasha, Rhonda Trout, of Midland, Texas, and Jimmie Phillips, of Chickasha; three brothers: Bill Phillips, of Duncan, Gary Don Beach, of Chickasha, and Cecil Beach, of Alaska; two sisters: Nona Kennell and LouAnn Beach, both of Chickasha. Gerald is also survived by twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Everyone knew him as “Pops” at Mama Carols Restaurant, which he and Carol has owned and operated for over 15 years. “Pops” never went at anything half-heartedly; paper boy, pilot, truck driver, diesel mechanic, Grand Master of the Elks Lodge, fishing, woodworking, and collecting cookie jars. During his illustrious lifetime, Gerald could point to many achievements. But there are six people who will be quick to say that his crowning accomplishment took place on March 11, 1963. That is the day that he said “I do” to a young woman named Carolyn…and her five small children, the oldest being only seven years old. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
Funeral service for Velma Mae Jantz, 82, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at the Plainview Mennonite Church. Velma Mae Jantz was born December 20, 1924 in Chickasha, Oklahoma the daughter of Simon and Carrie (Unruh) Jantz and died June 30, 2007 in Chickasha. Miss Jantz lived in the Chickasha area all of her life. She was a member of the Plainview Mennonite Church. She was preceded in death by: Father: Simon Jantz; Mother: Carrie Jantz Koehn; Stepfather: Simon Koehn. Survivors include: one sister: Dorothy and husband Virgil Koehn of Chickasha; two nephews and one niece: Wesley and wife Alice Koehn of Colcord, Oklahoma; Charlotte and husband James Nightingale of Chickasha; Carl and wife Dolores Koehn of Chickasha. Interment will be in the Plainview Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Sherry Ann Martinez, 41, of Chickasha will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2007, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Walworth officiating. Sherry Ann was born June 30, 1966, in Groton , Connecticut , the daughter of Edward Stewart and Mary Baker Stewart. She died July 1, 2007, at her home in Chickasha . Sherry grew up in California , also living in Connecticut and Hawaii, due to her father being in the military. She came to Chickasha to live near her mother in 2002. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Johnie and Pauline Baker and Chester and Pauline Stewart. Survivors include father and step-mother: Edward and Vicki Stewart, of Aiea , Hawaii ; mother and step-father: Mary and Ernie Blacow, of Chickasha ; two brothers: John C. Stewart, of California and Daniel E. Stewart, of Hawaii; and four children: Michelle, Stephanie, Victoria, and Ryan. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
Graveside service for Michelle LeAnn Bickerstaff, age 33 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2007, in Fairlawn Cemetery. Rev. Larry Hatfield will officiate. Michelle was born the daughter of Gary Lee Wilson and Rebecca Ann Miller on July 17, 1973, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She died on July 9, 2007, in Chickasha. She married Michael Ray Bickerstaff on June 24, 1994, in Chickasha. Michelle grew up in the Chickasha area and graduated from Ninnekah High School. She worked as a phlebotomist at Grady Memorial Hospital for six years and as a medical assistant at Five Oaks Medical Center for four years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Lee Wilson, step-father, Franklin G. Chaney, grandparents, Ruth Laverne and Raymond Lester Miller, grandparents, Juanita N. and W. L. Chaney, aunts, Roxie D. and Ronda Miller, and uncle, Raymond D. Miller. Survivors include: Husband: Michael Bickerstaff of Chickasha; Mother: Rebecca Chaney of Chickasha; Brother: Mark Chaney of Chickasha; Brother: Michael Chaney of Chickasha; Sister-in-law: Gereldene Chaney of Chickasha; Sister-in-law: Tarhea Collier Chaney of Chickasha; Brother-in-law & Sister-in-law: Mark & Kelli Payne of Checotah; Brother-in-law: Bryan Bickerstaff of Oklahoma City; Mother & Father-in-law: Shirley & Donnie Bray of Oklahoma City; Three Nieces & Four Nephews; Several Aunts, Uncles, & Cousins. Funeral services for Mabel Gilley, 103, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 12, 2007, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Mabel Gilley was born September 28, 1903, in Lindale, Texas, the daughter of Clay and Fannie (Barclay) Pinkley. She died July 8, 2007, in Chickasha. Mabel came to Chickasha in 1905, at age 2 years. She grew up in Chickasha and attended Chickasha Schools. After her schooling, Mabel went to work as a nurse and she took on the rearing of her 7 year old brother. Two years later, on December 21, 1921, she married her beloved husband, William “Carl” Gilley, and they had two children of their own. She was a stay at home mom while her children were growing up, devoting herself to being an active, caring, loving and devoted mother; she then opened a home daycare, which she operated for over 20 years. She instilled her love and values into many of the local children throughout her career. She retired in 1996, at the age of 93. Ms. Gilley was the oldest and longest member of the First Baptist Church , being a member for 62 years. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Carl Gilley; both parents; two sons: Bill and Eugene Gilley; three brothers; three sisters; and one nephew. She is survived by granddaughters: Darlene Wooldridge and Karla Williams; grandson, Bryan Gilley and wife Regina; great-grandsons: James Anderson, Justin Williams, David Wooldridge and Wade Wooldridge; one great-great- grandson; nephew, Bill Eschliman; daughter-in-law, Karlene Woodard and husband, Tom; nieces and special friends: Steve Godin, Shirley Burns, and Toye Yoder. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
Funeral service for John William Crook, age 77, of Lindsay, Oklahoma will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday July 12, 2007 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home in Chickasha. John William Crook was born October 1, 1929 at Waynoka, Oklahoma. He was the son of Aaron and Dolly Faye (Smelcher) Crook. He died Monday July 9, 2007 in Chickasha. Mr. Crook married Wanda Fay McKenna May 15, 1950 in Waynoka. He lived in Iowa almost 50 years. He had worked as a mechanic at the Hyperion Golf Course in Johnston, Iowa. He had lived in Lindsay for the last nine years. His parents, three sisters and their husbands Lois and Lloyd Corbin, Janice and Kenneth Sayers and Doris and Jack Benefield and one brother Gerald Crook all preceded him in death. Survivors include: his wife: Wanda Fay Crook of the home in Lindsay; daughter: Sandra Faye Urbin and husband Greg of Maryland; son: Bobby Lee Crook and wife Sylvia of Iowa; three sisters: Thelma Carter and husband Robert of Boone, Iowa; Dorothy Sunstrum of Boone, Iowa; Sharon Hathaway and husband Keith of Sherman, Tex; three brothers: Gene Crook of Boone, Iowa; Bill Crook and wife Debbie of Boone, Iowa; Chester Crook and wife Diane of Boone, Iowa; grandchildren: Christina, Scott, Joseph and Ben Funke, Angela Gillis and husband John, Christopher, Melissa and Jason Crook; eleven great- grandchildren. Funeral service for Mertis Marie Scott age 87 of Chickasha will be held 1:30 pm Monday July 16, 2007 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Scott was born April 2, 1920 in Hayworth, Oklahoma. She died Friday July 13, 2007 in Chickasha. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Indiana Virginia (Grubbs) Dean. She married John Robert McCoy and later married V.W. Scott and Harry Cobb, Jr. They all preceded her in death. She had lived in Chickasha since 1965. Her parents, two brothers, two sisters, two grandchildren and one great grandchild also preceded her in death. Survivors include: three daughters and their husbands Ernestine Mann and Carl of Amber; Louise Bright and Gary of Moore; Shirley White and Johnny of Blanchard; five sons and their wives Billy Don McCoy and Mary Jane of Anchorage, Alaska; Louis L. McCoy and Judith of Broken Bow; John R. McCoy and Anita of Chickasha; Larry McCoy and Sue of Chickasha; Charles David McCoy and Sherri of Blanchard; one sister Violet Johnson of Chickasha; one brother W.T. Dean of Chickasha; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, Oklahoma under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home
James Everett Watson was born in Verden, Oklahoma on May 26, 1931 to Samuel Everett Watson and Ura Venus (Stewart) Watson. Mr. Watson passed away on July 14, 2007 at Baptist Integris hospital from complications of leukemia. Mr. Watson was well known in the automobile business; having co-owned Pullen-Watson Chrysler Plymouth for several years and later going with the accounting division as a comptroller of GM dealership. He was nominated outstanding business manager for many years. Mr. Watson was also a member of the United States Army Reserve. At the age of 11 years, he met the girl next door! They went to school together, they went their separate ways, then one beautiful day she wandered into the dealership to purchase a new car. His later response was “If he had known he was going to help pay for it, he would have made her a better deal”. James and Teddy Jo Ann were married on July 3, 1959. They have three beautiful daughters, five marvelous grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. James and Teddy Jo Ann are faithful members of Deer Creek Church of Christ. Before moving to Oklahoma City, they worshipped at Southern Oaks Church of Christ, Chickasha, Oklahoma. They owned and operated Jim-Jo Acres east of Chickasha where they raised registered quarter horses. They received state, national and world honors. Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Everett Watson in 1933; his mother, Ura Venus Watson Stapleton in 1973; his dad John E. Stapleton in 1968; his sister, Melba Beatrice Ratcliff in 1992. He is survived by his wife Teddy Jo Ann of 48 years; three daughters; Carla L. Robey Harcourt (Michael) of Oklahoma City; Dara Lynn Robison (David) of Piedmont; Jamie Ruth Feroli (John) of Ardmore; five grandchildren; Darenda Lee Sylvester (Jaron), Bart Jay Robey (Shawnae), Darrelyn DeAnn Phillips, Johnna JoAnn Feroli, Colton James Watson Feroli, and one great-granddaughter, Alaura Dannon Litson; one brother Orval L. Watson of Lafayette, LA; three sisters; Nadean Johnson of Dothan, AL; Vaughndalee Willard of Ardmore, Anita Gaye Barrett (J.M.) of Haysville, KA. There will be visitation on Monday July 16, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Sevier’s Chickasha Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at Deer Creek Church of Christ at northwest 178th and MacArthur. Graveside service will be at 2:00 P.M. at Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Marlow: Derick Justice Doughty, 5 months, passed away Friday, July 13, 2007 in Marlow. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 19, 2007, at the College Heights Baptist Church in Chickasha, with Rev. Dale Blake officiating. Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, in Chickasha under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow. Derick was born Monday, February 5, 2007, to Derek Phillip and Kandace KayLynn (Lindsay) Doughty. He lived in Chickasha before moving to Marlow three months ago. He enjoyed riding his daddy and Pops knee like a horsey and shifting gears with his Pops thumb. He giggled and showed off his dimples the most when his daddy would throw him up in the air. When he was sad and crying, his mommy's touch would comfort him. He had just mastered the binky and loved his orange activity chair. He was so loving and enjoyed being swaddled and patted on his bottom. Derick enjoyed playing with his big sister and had just learned how to tease her by taking her toy away. His survivors include, Parents, Derek & Kandace Doughty of Marlow, OK; Sister, LindsayAnn Nicole Doughty of the home; Paternal Grandmother, Norma Doughty of Chickasha, OK; Paternal Grandfather, Terry Doughty of Chickasha, OK; Maternal Grandfather, Ronnie "Pops" Lindsay of Chickasha, OK; Maternal Grandparents, Tammy & Gary Wantland of Chickasha, OK; Paternal Great Grandparents, Margaret Pena of Chickasha, OK; Maternal Great Grandfathers, J.W.
