Columnists of the Pryor Paper

Terry Aylward is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism and was the editor at Pryor's daily newspaper for more than 20 years. He is a father of three boys and since September 1999, has been a co-publisher of The Paper with David Gustafson and Paul Lewis
Jana Elliott is a teacher at Pryor Junior High School and a lifetime resident of Mayes County. A 1967 graduate of Pryor High, Elliott has a rich history of writing for several local newspapers. She is also an accomplished Cherokee basket maker.
 
T.D. Lamar is the unofficial historian of Mayes County. A graduate of Pryor High School, Lamar is a former city councilman and is a proud member of the Oklahoma National Guard. His photograph collection of early days in Mayes County is unparalleled. He's the proud father of one son, Joel Mayes Lamar.
 
Fara Spence is originally from Nova Scotia, Canada, but moved to Pryor Creek in 2001. She is a novelist, who pens a weekly columnfor The Paper and is a mother of one daughter. Her first novel That Hurt Thing was released by Hawk Publishing in 2003.
 
Todd and Kim Bethel are co-owners of Pryor's We Love Movies DVD specialty store. Todd is a 1987 graduate of Pryor High School and returned to his hometown in 1998 with his wife, Kim, a Missouri native after living in Oregon. Avid movie buffs, the duo writes a weekly movie column each week in The Paper.
Jimmie Tramel was a sports writer in Mayes County from 1985-1989. His coverage of Big 12 sports and the NBA can be read in The Tulsa World . He was a salutatorian of Locust Grove High School and Northeastern State University. He's the proud father of a daughter, Katie Mae.
Dorothy Dell Butler Welsh is the grandaughter of Joe Butler, the founder of The Pryor Jeffersonian and the great grandaughter of Henry Butler, the publisher and founder of the first successful newspaper in Pryor Creek, Indian Territory, The Pryor Creek Clipper . Her column takes a look back at Pryor's and Mayes County's yesteryear.
Justin Alberty is a graduate of Salina High School and Oklahoma State University. A proud father and husband, Alberty is a member of the cutting-edge media department at Grand River Dam Authority. He is also a Sunday School teacher.
State Senator Stratton Taylor (D-Claremore) is an attorney and represents the 2nd district covering Mayes and Rogers Counties. He holds a juris doctorate degree from the University of Tulsa and files his Capitol Report column each week from Oklahoma City.
State Representative Larry Rice (D-Pryor) is a former Pryor police officer and city councilman who currently represents the 8th district in the Oklahoma House of Representatives and is also a professor and administrator at the University of Tulsa.



Pryor Creek Clipper: - The barn on the farm of G. W. Elliot, of Muskogee, located eight miles east of Adair, was burned last Friday night. J. F. Dunham a tenant, lost 1000 bushes of corn, nine head of horses, two sets of harness, two cultivators, three turning plows, one corn planter, six head of hogs, and one saddle. Joe Walker, another tenant, lost some corn and machinery. No insurance on barn and contents. The building was valued at $750.  February 2, 1900
