William Henry Ashwood
William H. "Bill" Ashwood, 68, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Henson-Novak Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Elmer Conley of Booker, Texas, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fort Gibson National Cemetery at Muskogee, Okla. Mr. Ashwood was born in Muskogee. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He married Frances Mae Schickling in 1958 in Philadelphia. They moved to Guymon in 1978 from Fairview. Mr. Ashwood was a speech and hearing teacher in the Fairview and Guymon schools for many years before retiring. He was a member of the United Church of God. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Janice Ashwood of Guymon and Deidre Danece Ashwood of Weatherford, Texas; a sister, Mary Wozniak of Muskogee; four brothers, Tommy Ashwood, Dick Ashwood, Johnny Ashwood and Jack Ashwood, all of Muskogee; and a granddaughter. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday; from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday; and until service time on Monday. [

Melvin Merl Batterman

Obit: Melvin "Slim" Batterman, 72, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Mike Laughlin, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mr. Batterman was born in Texas County near Guymon. He attended the Guymon school system. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had received the Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon and three Overseas Service Bars. He was a member of the Guymon Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Alice Mae Watkins in 1949 at Clayton, N.M. He was a measurement technician for Panhandle Eastern before retiring in 1981. Survivors include his wife; a son, Danny Batterman of Borger, Texas; a daughter, Vicki Piccirillo of Watonga; a sister, Ethel Webb of Guymon; a twin brother, Marion Batterman of Enid; and three grandchildren.

Ethel Marie Batterman Webb
Ethel Marie Webb, 92, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, in Stratford, Texas. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Callaway, pastor of James Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. The daughter of John and Edith Rantz Batterman, Mrs. Webb was a lifelong resident of the Guymon area. She married Harry E. Webb on May 15, 1932, in the Unity Community, where they farmed for many years. Survivors include a daughter, LaVada Cottrill of Nixa, Mo.; two sons, Ray L. Webb of Wright, Wyo., and L. Jay Webb of Grand Prairie, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Marion Batterman of Enid.
