Welcome to the Genealogy Trails site for Hood River County Oregon.

I need to be adopted!!!

Website updated with new data November 6, 2008

Hi, I'm Shauna Williams the host of the Oregon site. As you can see this county is looking for someone to adopt it and spend some time making it look nice and fill it with helpful information for the researchers searching in the area! Please check out the volunteer page to find out what it takes to be a host and while you are looking around why don't you join the mailing list for the Pacific Coast States!
Please contact me with any questions, comments or contributions.

The first white settlers in Hood River County filed a donation land claim in 1854. The first school was built in 1863 and a road from The Dalles was completed in 1867. By 1880 there were 17 families living in the valley. Hood River County was created in 1908 from Wasco County.--Oregon Blue Book
