Eugene, Oregon, has an ordinance for the punishment of any person "lying drunk across the sidewalk." A man was recently arrested for the offense, but was discharged by the intelligent magistrate, because the testimony went to show that he was lying along the sidewalk in a longitudinal direction.

Following are the names of the escaped prisoners: George Campbell, charged with grand larceny; Charles Sargeant, grand larceny; John Lance, rap. At last accounts they had not been recaptured.

Dr. J.D. Driver, who has just returned to Oregon from Northfield, where he had been to assist D.L. Moody, was badly gored by a bull on his farm at Eugene, Oregon, a few days ago. His arm was torn open for nearly a foot.

At Eugene, Oregon, a large iron bridge was washed away, causing a loss of $20,000. A few buildings and large amounts of cord wood, fencing and other material were washed away, and the aggregate losses will county up to many thousands of dollars. At Roseburg, Oregon, no trains have arrived since Friday, and a shortage of provisions is feared unless communication is restored. The bridge across Deer Creek has gone, and the woolen mills have been totally destroyed by the flood.

Mr. and Mrs. Bogart have gone to Eugene, Oregon, where they will make their future home.

C.E. Leib of Hueneme has decided to try a change of climate and scenery and will this week move to Eugene, Oregon, where he expects to go into farming. Mr. Leib likes lots of water and for this reason has turned his face towards the land of mists. The household goods, furniture, etc., was shipped Monday. His many friends on this side of the river are extremely sorry to see him go, but wish him all sorts of good luck in his new location.

     C.D. Chorpening, formerly of Maysville, who went west two years ago for the benefit of his health, which he has completely regained, has just been appointed a mail carrier at Eugene, Oregon.
