A private family service will be held for Eileen Doris Abarr of Eugene, who died June 15 of age-related causes. She was 94.

Abarr was born April 28, 1908, in Willits, Calif., to Eugene and Bertha Hawkins Shelton. She married Herbert Abarr in Ukiah, Calif., on Sept. 13, 1927. He died Jan. 27, 1977.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, reading, sewing, traveling and hunting. She lived in this area for 60 years.

Survivors include a son, Herbie of Eugene; a daughter, Sue McMahon of Sunnyvale, Calif.; a sister, Eva Rose of Ukiah; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A son, Charles, and a stepson, Harold, died previously.

Buell Chapel in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

SWEET HOME - A memorial service will be held Dec. 28 for Matilda Marson Abbey of Sweet Home, who died Dec. 25 of age-related causes. She was 87.

Abbey was born Sept. 7, 1914, in Silverton to Louis and Augusta Roncali Marson. She graduated from Molalla High School in 1932.

She and her husband, William Abbey, were married in Eugene.

In addition to Sweet Home, Abbey lived in Springfield, Blachly and the Philippines. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Molalla and owned the Maple Store in Cascadia for five years.

She enjoyed gardening and is remembered for her cooking and sewing. She was a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Susan Schmokel of Scholls, Ore., and Janis Cagle of Eugene; a son, Cliff of Saint Helena, Calif.; two sisters, Millie Lahti of Eugene and Vera Spagle of Hillsboro; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friday's service will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church in Sweet Home. Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel in Sweet Home is in charge of arrangements.
Abbott, Helen

A memorial service will be held May 12 for Helen J. Abbott of Eugene, who died May 8 of age-related causes. She was 87.

She was born June 6, 1912, in Salt Lake City, to Albert and Augusta Greenhalgh Jarman. She married George Abbott in Logan, UT., on June 14, 1935. He died Aug. 9, 1971. She attended school in Salt Lake City and graduated from the Univ. of UT. She lived in Portland before moving to Eugene in 1942. She was a travel agent and later a homemaker. She was a U of O sports fan and donor. She was a member of the Junior League of Eugene, Mu Phi Kappa and Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Abbott of Seattle, and Barbara Christofferson and Patty Lowe, both of Phoenix, AZ.; two sons, Thomas of Eugene and Roger of Vancouver, WA.; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Friday's service will be at 3 p.m. at Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene. Burial will be at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Poole-Larsen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

LONDON, July 16.--(Special)--Mr. and Mrs. Joe Abeene, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Abeene, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Abeene, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Abeene, Mr. and Mrs. Claris Abeene, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Small, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hess and Marcelle and Merell Abeene attended the funeral of John Abeene, brother of Joe Abeene, at Oakland this week.  Sunday was the date that had previously been set for the annual reunion of the Abeene family.  Edith Abeene, a sister-in-law of Portland, came home with them and is visiting at the Joe Abeene home.

Mrs. Mae Abeene, wife of Joe Abeen, died at midnight last night at her home at London, south of Cottage Grove.  Her sisters-in-law, Mrs. Jess Seavey, and Mrs. Ronald Roberts, together with Mr. Seavey, went to Cottage Grove this morning.  Tom Abeene of Springfield and Will Abeene of Wendling are al-brothers [sic].  She leaves six small children, besides the other relatives.

ABELL – Flossie M. Abell of 132 Hansen Lane, Eugene, died May 6, 1979 in a local hospital at the age of 81.  She was born September 8, 1897 in Texas.  She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Jefferson Abell on June 21, 1969.  She was a housewife and had lived in this community since 1946.  She is survived by her daughter, Francis Maycumber of Sweet Home, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, Winnie Saltzman of San Jose, California, Maude Abell of North Bend, Oregon, Dorothy Brown of Creswell, Nellie Lavigne of Red Bluff, California.  No funeral services will be held.  Those who wish, may donate their blood at the Lane County Blood Bank in her memory.  No flowers place.  BUELL CHAPEL in charge of arrangements.

ABELL – Thomas Jefferson Abell of 132 Hansen Lane, Eugene, passed away June 21, 1969 at Merlin, Oregon.  He was born October 30, 1897 in Merlin, Oregon.  He had been a superintendent for Booth Kelly Lumber co.  He was married to Flossie James December 24, 1915 at Coquille, and had been a resident here for 40 years.  He was a member of Liberty Lodge No. 171AF&AM.  Survived by his wife, Flossie; a daughter, Mrs. Allen (Nadine) Maycumber of Sweet Home; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Albert of North Bend, and Joe of Coquille; a sister, Susan Barcley of North Bend.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 25th at 2 p.m. in BUELL CHAPEL with Reverend Paul D. Sisler of the Methodist church officiating.  Interment to follow at Lane Memorial Gardens.

A memorial service will be held May 9 for Doris J. Abraham of Eugene, who died May 1 from a stroke. She was 81.

She was born Aug. 11, 1920, in London, England, to Ernie and Rose Knott Green. She and her husband, Woodrow Abraham, were married 52 years before his death on Dec. 4, 1997.

She was educated as a journeyman dressmaker in London. She was a homemaker who lived on the family farm in Peoria for 50 years. She moved to the local area two years ago.

Her interests included sewing, cooking, dogs, people, gardening, writing, poetry and the New York Times crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Daughters of the British Empire.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Edwards of Eugene; a brother, Edwin Green of London; and two grandchildren.

Thursday's service will be at 2 p.m. at the Oakville Church. Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service, Eugene, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heartland Humane Society in Albany or to the Greenhill Humane Society in Eugene.
Abraham, Martha

SPRINGFIELD - Martha M. Abraham of Springfield died March 25 of cancer. She was 92.

Abraham was born May 5, 1909, in Verdon, Neb., to Homer and Martha Hoffman Watkins. She graduated from high school in Verdon and married John Abraham in Verdon on Nov. 20, 1945.

She was a homemaker, wife and mother who enjoyed sewing, needlework, cooking, baking, quilting and canning.

She was a 4-H volunteer and taught Sunday school at Elkton Christian Church from 1949 to this year. She also did missionary work and served on the budget committee at Elkton Grade School.

She lived in Klamath Falls for four years before moving to Elkton, where she lived for 43 years. She moved to Springfield 10 years ago.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Judy Flynn of Lincoln City; a son, David of Grants Pass; a sister, Grace Watkins of Falls City, Neb.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A private service is planned. Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of McKenzie-Willamette Hospital.
Abramson, Alfred Wednesday, January 9, 2002 The Eugene Register-Guard (Eugene, OR)
The funeral will be held Jan. 11 for Alfred Abramson of Eugene, who died Jan. 7 of age-related causes. He was 86.

Abramson was born Sept. 17, 1915, in Fulda, Minn., to Frank and Emma Bergman Abramson. He married Julie Miller in Fulda on June 21, 1939. He moved from Fulda to Eugene in 1964, and later lived in Creswell, Lowell and Springfield.

He owned a farm and worked as an equipment operator for the city of Eugene. He retired in 1981.

He was a member of the Eugene Eagles Aerie and the Good Sam Camping Club. He attended several area Lutheran churches. Before moving to Eugene, he served on the Fulda Co-op Board.

The Willamalane Senior Center of Springfield honored him for volunteering his time there.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Abramson Buechler Wenzel of Hanska, Minn.; two sons, Ronald and Douglas, both of Springfield; a sister, Edna Evers of Rochester, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A grandson, Michael Buechler, died previously.

Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Springfield Lutheran Church. Friday's service will be at 1 p.m. at the church. Private burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Springfield Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Lutheran Church or a charity of choice.
