DIED IN OREGON
It is learned that Chas. H. Messer, who was numbered
among the pioneer residents of Stevens Point and who went from here
to serve in the civil war, recently passed away at his home in
Newport, Oregon. After the close of the war Mr. Messer returned to
Stevens Point, was married to Miss Alvira Harris and soon thereafter
they located in Minnesota, which state had been their home until
within the last two or three years. Mr. Messer was between 60 and 65
years of age and was a man universally liked. His wife died at the
home of her sister, Mrs. Hyde, in Milwaukee, about one year ago. The
announcement of the death of this worthy former resident will be
regretted by all who knew him.
