HALL, George - b. 16 Jan . 1819, Mansfield Park, Eng.; started from Stark Co., Ill., 1853; DLC No. 814, Umpqua Co.; became a citizen, 3 May 1858, Roseburg, Ore.; m. Jane James in Ore.; brother of Langley and John Hall (see roster); d. 7 June 1896, Douglas Co., Ore.

HALL, John - b. 1 Jan. or 18 Dec. 1800, Mansfield Park, Derbyshire Eng.; laid out town of Myrtle Creek, Ore., 1865; brother of Langley and George Hall(see roster); d. 31 Jan. 1885, Ore.; single.

HALL, Dr. Langley - b. 8 April 1815, Eng.; DLC No. 804, Douglas Co., Ore.; homeopathic doctor: brother of George and John Hall (see roster). He buried many of his personal belongings and books in a cache in the Cascades, fall of 1853 on the cut-off; returned in spring of 1854 and found cache untouched. Other immigrants had wagons rifled and contents stolen during the winter. He d. 14 Feb. 1897, Oakland, Douglas Co., Ore.

HALL, Sarah Alice (Ligo) - b. 6 April 1809, Derbyshire, Eng.; m. Langley, 13 Dec. 1837 (Family Bible), Putnam Co., Ill.; d. 1 Aug. 1895, Oakland, Ore.

    Children:

    Alfred - b. 6 Oct. 1838, Ill.; m. Fannie Johnson, 4 March 1875; d. 21 Feb. 1905, Walla Walla, Wash.

    Sarah Elizabeth - b. 27 July 1840; m. (1) Dr. Francis Marion Cozad, 28 July 1859; m. (2) Richard Thomas; d. 27 Nov. 1924.

    Fannie Maria - b. 7 Aug. 1842, Ill.; m. John T. Bloomfield, 19 Oct. 1862; d. 6 June 1915. John was a merchant in Eugene, later moved to Portland where he d. 30 May 1915.

    Langley Jr. - b. 1 April 1846, Ill.; m. Mary Marshal, 22 Sept. 1872, Douglas Co., Ore.; d. 5 March 1908.

    Mary Ann - b. 7 Jan. 1848; m. (1) James B. Smith (see roster), 1 Dec. 1868; d. 7 Dec. 1930.

    Charles Mansel - b. 4 March 1850, Stark Co., Ill.; m. Sarah M. Barr, 19 Dec. 1876/77; postmaster at Oakland, Douglas Co., Ore.; later moved to Walla Walla, Wash.; d. 25 Aug. 1943.

    Eva Jane (Jennie) - b. 14 July 1852, Ill.; m. Galatin A. Taylor, Oakland, Ore.; d. 4 June 1935.

HAMILTON, Joseph Layton - b. 18 Feb. 1815, Ky.; moved to Carroll Co., Ind.; DLC No. 591, Lane Co., Ore. Moved from Oregon to Washington spring of 1868 and to Wallowa Valley, 1882. Crossed plains in John Smith wagon train with father-in-law, John Davidson (see roster), as far as new cut-off; d. 16 Sept.,1887, Wallowa Valley, Ore.

HAMILTON, Nancy Amanda (Davidson) - b. 2 March 1830, Green Co., Ohio; dau. of John Davidson (see roster); m. Joseph, 14 Sept. 1848, Pittsburg, Carroll Co., Ind.

    John Davidson - b. 17 Oct. 1849, Pittsburg, Carroll Co., Ind.; m. Nora Adeline Smith; moved to Wallowa Co., Ore.

    Thomas S. - b. 10 March 1850, Clay Co., Mo.; m. Larenda Crooks, Jan. 1889; from Lane Co. to Lake Co., 1870; at Summer Lake, Ore., 1872-73; d. 8 Dec. 1929, Ashwood, Ore.

    George Wilson - b. 10 Jan. 1851, Carroll Co., Ind.; moved to Wallowa Co., Ore., in 1869.

    Joseph Layton - b. 25 Aug. 1852, Carroll Co., Ind.; m. Dora Winston, 1 Oct. 1885; d. 1 Dec. 1919, Lane Co., Ore.

HARVEY, Aaron - b. 16 Oct. 1831, Stafforshire, Eng.; DLC No. 711, Umpqua (Douglas) Co., Ore.; m. Elizabeth Harris Coates, 1858 (widow of Alden Coaters who came 1853 by the Oregon Trail). Harvey was a nephew of Dr. Langley Hall (see roster), became a US citizen, 6 Oct. 1856, Elkton, Ore.; d 2 Oct. 1892, Roseburg, Ore.

HARVEY, Anne - b. 6 June 1830, Wolverhampton, Eng.; niece of Dr. Langley Hall (see roster) and sister of Aaron Harvey (see roster); m. Ralph Cockeram of Driver's Valley, Douglas Co., Ore.; d. 27 Sept. 1909.

*HAYDON, Thomas - b. 1816, Mo; m. Mary Ann, 23/25 Dec. 1843/44, Putnam Co., Mo.

*HENDRICKS, Mrs. Martha (or Mattie) - widow traveling with the Samuel Howard party (see roster), believed to have taken care of Olive Howard on the trail; lived with family near Lancaster until she died; said to be buried in the small cemetery near that community.

HILL, Hanks Neville - b. 10 March 1813, Cumberland Co., Ky.; DLC No. 1642, Lane Co., Ore. (His mother, Joyce or Joiasy Hanks, was a cousin of Nancy Hanks, mother of Lincoln.) Hill started for Ore., 11 April 1853, with 4 wagons, 12 head of oxen, 8 horses from Washburne Prairie, Barry Co., Mo.; d. 9 Sept. 1898, Lane Co., Ore.

HILL, Elizabeth Ann (Merrill-DeMerrill) - b. 4 Dec. 1818/19, Randolph Co., NC; m. Hanks, 18 Feb. 1844, McNairy Co., Tenn.; d. 18 Feb. 1881, Lane Co., Ore.

HOCKERSMITH, Martha Jane (Gale) - b. 7 Oct. 1826; m. Jackson, 10 Jan. 1846/47, Davis Co., Iowa; dau. of Dr. William Gale (see roster); d. 19 March 1903, Jackson Co., Ore.

HOLT, Samuel H. - stepson of John L. Kline (see roster); b. 22 July 1840; m. perhaps (1) M. J. Basket, 8 Nov. 1864, Wasco Co., Ore.; m. (2) Laura A. Minnick, 2 Nov. 1885, Lewiston, Idaho; moved from Ore. to Nez Perce Co., Idaho.
