GEORGE D. BASEHOAR, farmer, P. O. Littlestown, was born on the old homestead in this township, March 10, 1837, son of George and Margaret (Grove) Basehoar. He was educated in this county, and has been a farmer all his life. Our subject was married here, February 28, 1860, to Miss Louisa Duttera, born in Adams County, Penn., in December, 1836, daughter of John and Margaret (Weikert) Duttera, who were among the old settlers of Union Township. George D. Basehoar and wife were the parents of eight children: Henry H., E. Frances, George W., Louise Ann, John D. (killed by an accident at ten years of age); Sarah E., Jennie D. and Daniel D. The family are all members of the Lutheran Church. Mr. Basehoar resides on a farm of 122 acres of land with good improvements, and is counted among the well-to-do farmers of this township. He has been identified with the Republican party all his life.
