Edis, Samuel Departed this life, on Monday morning, the 6th inst., in the 73rd year of his age, Samuel Edis, Esq., and the next day his remains were interred in Upper Marsh creek burying ground attended by a very large concourse of his friends and acquaintances. Mr. Edis’s character is well known to his fellow citizens, and renders no vapaper eulogeuen unnecessary. Eicholtz, Maurice William Maurice William Eicholtz, 38, assistant Postmaster at Arendtsville, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in Arendtsville, Thursday afternoon. Although he had been in ill health for five weeks and had been confined to bed for two weeks, Mr. Eicholtz's death was unexpected.

He suffered the heart attack at 12:30 o'clock, and when the physician arrived Mr. Eicholtz was beyond medical assistance. Mr. Eicholtz was assistant postmaster at Arendtsville for five years. Previously, he worked for his father, M. McC. Eicholtz, of The Narrows, in the lumber business.

Mr. Eicholtz was the second son of Mr and Mrs S. McC. Eicholtz, and was born in Arendtsville. He is survived by his parents, his widow whose maiden name was Miss Bernadetta A Irvin; one son, Irvin Sanuel Eicholtz; two sisters, Mrs Arnold Raffensperger, Arendtsville and Miss Elizabeth L Eicholtz, at home; and two brothers, Fred G Eicholtz and Robert E Eicholtz, both of Menallen township. Interment was made at Arendtsville on Sunday, the Rev Geo. B. Ely officiating.

Eicholtz, Samuel McClellan "Mack" Samuel McClellan "Mack" Eicholtz. 78, a former Adams county commissioner and well-known sawmill operator, died August 22nd at 12:40 o'clock at his home at the Eicholtz mill in the Narrows from the effects of two strokes suffered July 25 and a week ago.

The deceased was born near Arendtsville, a son of the late Samuel and Catherine (Meals) Eicholtz. He lived his entire life in the county and was educated in county schools. In 1905 he entered the lumber business with his brother, Charles Eicholtz and also began farming.

He was a memeber of the Trinity Lutheran church, Arendtsville, the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Gettysburg, and a charter member of the old Arendtsville Hunting club.

Surviving are his widow, the former Miss Annie M. Koch to whom he was married 52 years ago last May; four children, Fred G. Eicholtz, the Narrows, Robert E Eicholtz, near Arendtsville; Mrs. W. Arnold Raffensperger, Arendtsville, and Miss Elizabeth Eicholtz, at home. Five brothers and sisters; Mrs. Anna Belford, Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Sarah Leidy, Harrisburg; Mrs. Amos Sheely, Arendtsville; Dr. R. W. Eicholtz, Syracuse, New York and Charles M. Eicholtz, the Narrows. Five grandsons also survive.

Funeral service from the Bender funeral home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by the Rev George H. Berkheimer. Interment in Greenmount cemetery, Arendtsville.

The pallbearers were William Cooley, J. Blaine Bushey, Edgar McDannell, William Allison, Clark Hartman and Joseph Hall.

Engle, Mrs. Charles Mrs. Charles Engle, of Medford, Mass succumbed on Monday to a lingering illness. About 13 years ago Mrs. Engle, daughter of Mrs. Mary (middle initial illegible) Troxell, moved from Gettysburg. She is survived by her mother; husband; two daughters, and several sisters, including Miss Margaret Troxell of Gettysburg. Interment in Evergreen cemetery, Gettysburg. 15 Apr 1920

Erath, Carl Carl Erath commonly known as “Dutch Charlie”, died at the home of Miss Lucy Crum in Menallen township of a complication of diseases on Jan 9, aged 58 yrs. 10 mo., and 23 days. Deceased was born in Germany. He came to the United States to escape military service in his won country for several years worked at his trade of watch making in New York, Philadelphia and parts of New Jersey. Since 1874 he has made his home among the Crums. He was well educated and possessed a thorough knowledge of his trade. He will be greatly missed in the whole community in which he lived where he did much good work in repairing watches and clocks. He was buried last Wednesday at Arendtsville. Rev. T. C. Hesson of ARendtsville conducting the services. 25 Jan 1905
