James Alexander Stewart
Born: Sept. 8, 1834, Pittsburg,
PA
Died: August 17, 1916, Eagleville, Harrison
County Mo.
James was the son of Henry Stewart
and Ruth (Castor) Stewart. At the age of 21 James
migrated to Ft. Madison, Iowa. It is unclear if Henry
and Ruth came at the same time or at an earlier date.
Henry and Ruth had the following children besides
James:
Mary: who remained in Pittsburg and married
a Mr. Fitzpatrick, there is a picture of Mary along with some
members of her family. Her address is listed on the back
as: Mary J. Fitzpatrick, No. 5736 Butler St., Pittsburg

Henry
Castor
Henry and Ruth settled in Van Buren County,
Iowa. Henry died on Jan.12, 1871, and is buried in Van
Buren County, Iowa. James married Melissa Pooler
February 25, 1857. After his fathers death James
migrated to Harrison County, Mo. There was no information
on when his mother passed away and where she is buried.
It is believed by the family that she may have started to
Missouri with James and died on the journey.
