Joseph
Arbuckle, d. 1808 of Mifflin Twp. (?), Allegheny Co., PA and
Wife, Sarah Arbuckle
Arbuckle, Joseph d. 1808
of Mifflin Twp (?), Allegheny Co. PA. Will registered in
Allegheny Will Book I, wife Sarah and several
children. I have not found one reference to Joseph, leading me
to believe he and his brrod may have been living with family
members. He was previously listed as an early settler of
Beaver Co., but again no mention other than that. If anyone
has seen any transactions of Joseph Arbuckle between 1796 and
1808, please pass them on. Also am interested in any other Arbuckle in
PA.
Thank you. Barb

William Bevan
(born abt. 1849 in Wales) and Anna
Bevan
I am looking for any information on my
Great grandparents William and Anna Bevan. I don't have
very much information to go on but I do know that they lived
in North Braddock, Pa in 1900. Schyulkill, Pa in
1920. I hit a brick wall after that. The only thing
that I know about William was that he was born in Wales about
1849. Anna
was born in Pa. (I don't know her maiden name.) My
grandfather was Herbert Bevan 1915 - 1997. He had a
brother named George, a sister, Catherine or
Cathern. There are other siblings but I haven't
been able to find them yet. Any information would be greatly
appreciated.

Joseph
Anderson Burns and Geraldine Lorinna Sewell
Most of my fathers
family is steeped in the history of Pittsburgh. My Father,
Joseph Anderson Burns, married my mother,
Geraldine Lorinna Sewell, in 1943 My Grand
Father, Joseph Anthony Burns, married my
Grand Mother, Myral Anderson. My Great
Grand Father, John Burns, married my
Great Grand Mother, "Mary" (I think),
Miller Now, my GG father, John Burns had 2
brothers. They all worked on the railroad. Their
names were Joseph and Anthony Burns. My
GG father, John Burns, lived in Allison
Park, with his wife and 10 children, until Thanksgiving of
1901. He was working as a conductor and slipped under
the wheels and died. Of the 10 children, 2 were boys,
the older boy left and the 13 year old, my Grandfather,
remained to leave school and support his 8 sisters and his
mother. My Great Grandmother Miller, was the Niece of
Thomas Noble Miller, who had been an early
partner, and life long friend of Andrew Carnegie. Thomas
Miller helped my widowed GGrandmother by buying her house and
letting the family live there. In addition, my
GGGrandmother, was a "Clark". Oral history says that she
is directly descended from the New Jersey attorney,
Abraham Clark, who, was one of the signers of
the Declaration of Independence.
I would love to hear
from anyone, who has any connection to any of these people, or
this history.
Thanks so
much,

Edward Floyd Caudill, born 28 Oct. 1885 in
Virginia and wife, Virginia B. (Bertie) Rhodes Kittridge
Caudill, born Dec. 1873 in
Virginia
My great grandparents, Edward
Floyd CAUDILL born 28 Oct 1885 in Virginia. Married
about 1911 Virginia B (Bertie) RHODES KITTRIDGE
CAUDILL
born Dec 1873 in
Virginia. They lived in the Pittsburgh area as early as 1918.
Locations listed for them in Allegheny County are: Indiana,
Allegheny Co. PA in Jan 1920; RD1, Verona in 1930; Saltsburgh
Road, Penn Twp in 1930; 6102 Walnut St, Pittsburgh in 1942.
I'm having trouble finding any information about either. Both
were dead by the mid 1950's. I paid for a search of the PA
death records and was told they could find no death records. I
know my father grew up near where they last lived in the
Verona area they both should have died in that area. Can
anyone suggest how I might track down more information on
these two former Allegheny county residents? I'd like to know
at least their death dates and where their burred.

Benjamin Clear/Clair/Clare from Sussex, England born
about 1818 and wife Hannah
My g.g.grandfather Benjamin Clear ran off

with a new Irish wife called Hannah in the
1850s. He settled in

He
was a very interesting character and I would love to know what
happened
to him but everywhere I look draws a blank. I may have lots
of
family in America that I don't know about! Benjamin came from
Sussex
England and was born about 1818. He
signed his declaration of allegience to America in
1866.

Montgomery Cochran, b-1820-1840, & Mary
Ann Crooks, b-1837-1842 (Both were born in
Pennsylvania)
I’m looking
for any information on my GG Grandparents....
Montgomery Cochran & Mary Ann Crooks
, they had 3 Children in Pennsylvania, before they
started heading West...William L Cochran,
b-1863, Anne Eliza Cochran, b-1864,
Daniel Webster Cochran
, b-1865. If I can find the city the children were born
in, I can narrow my search down for proof of Montgomery
& Mary Ann’s marriage, that was sometime shortly before
1863 I presume. I believe they
were Presbyterian, but I’m not 100 percent sure of
that. My name is Dave Cochran and thanks for any help
in advance.

Mary Ann Crooks b. abt 1838 in
Pennsylvania d. 1889 in Nanaimo, BC,
Canada
Mary Ann Crooks married
Montgomery Cochran of Westmoreland Co. in
about 1862. The couple had three children in Latrobe, PA and
then they headed west in about 1865/66. A fourth child,
Melissa,
was born in Missouri in July 1867. The family of Mary Ann and
4 children between the ages of 7 and 2 were still living in
Iowa in June 1870. Montgomery Cochran disappeared during their
trip west and is not mentioned in the 1870 census. The family
are in Nanaimo by April 1881.
The family of James and Ann
Crooks with 9 children including a Mary Ann (b. abt
1837) are living in Robeson Twp., Allegheny Co. in the 1850
census and the same family with 10 children including Mary A.
(b. abt 1838) are living in Robinson Twp., Allegheny Co. in
the 1860. The only things I know about Mary Ann (Crooks)
Cochran is her approximate age, 32 in 1870, 39 in 1881and she
was born in PA. There is a connection to the coal mining in
Nanaimo, BC and possibly in Pennsylvania, and in
Iowa.
Can I make a connection to the family of
James and Ann Crooks. Where was Robeson Twp.,
Allegheny Co., does it still exist, is/was it located close to
Robinson Twp?
Thank you

Fink (Finck) Family from
Montgomery and Allegheny Co., PA
I am looking for info on the FINK (FINCK) family
from Montgmery and Allegheny Co, PA. I have them on a
passenger list and they immigrated to Ellis Island and then
traveled to PA. Then I have my gg grandfather in 1900 as
being a widower of three children and then 2 of those 3
children end up as orphans in an asylum, the oldest was 17 and
she was working as a servant for the MUTH family???
Below is what I have...
1858, April 22
Germany Johann Fink born (think parents
are Jonus and Luzia)
1878-1893 Assumption of marriage tho nothing
found
1893, Sometime in March Johann Fink and Marie or
Maria sailed from thier last residence of Zurick to Ellis
Island en route to Mckeesport on the Ship "New York".
They do show as married and they traveled in the steerage part
of the ship. On the ships list Johann has dropped the "C" in
the name and its spelled FINK.
1893, (I think
May) Louisa (probably nick name) was born and I have found
nothing on her birth other than May of1893 and
Pennsylvania. If this tidbit is true Johann's wife Marie
was pregnant on the ship and the trip to America.
1894 to 1897 is
a big question, I have found alot of John Fink and
Johann Fink's but none of them seem to match. He was a
tailor so I have been looking at businesses and such. I
have found records in both Montgomery and Allegheny Co, PA. I
have also been researching Swede's in PA even tho he was born
in Germany, he was in Zurick at the time of
immigration.
1897 Jul 14, John aka"Johnny" Edward Fink was born
in Mckeesport, PA (died 1980)
1898 Aug 30, Joseph John was born Mckeesport, PA
(died 1986)
1900 Apr, John Fink (born 4/1858) is on the 1900
census in Versailles Twsp, Allegheny Co, Pa with
the 3 children I listed above and the proper dates.
Where it gets confusing is it says Widowed. And I have been
very unsuccesful in finding WHY? It also shows a Annie Roschet
and her daughter Mary as living in the home (im assuming to
help with the kids). Annie came to America in 1894 and
she lists as marrried but I have not been able to find a
husband at all. I have seen chicken scratch on a document that
looks as if Annie is John's sister in law, but very
illegible.
1902, Jan 18 I have found a naturalization paper
for a Johann Fink In McKeesport says resides in 9th boro
maybe, very unclear. Though I am not sure this is my
ancestor it looks to be as he was from Germany and The
timeline for becoming a citizen and name, town etc
matches.
1910, Apr John E "Johnny" Fink and Joseph John Fink
show in an orpans asylum St. Joseph's in
Allegheny Co, PA and Louisa does not as she was 17
and a Servant in the "MUTH" family on Caldwell street in
Wilkensburg, Allegheny Co, PA. Her name on there shows
as Louise and 17 yrs old, which would match.
ANY INFO???? I would love to
correspond with anyone having info and I can share what I have
please contact me directly at Contact:
Tammy
Fink Thomas Please even if you have the smallest tidbit, it may
help me find what happened to my gg grandmother and gg
grandfather. My father has NEVER even know thier names
til I started this search. I hope you can help and God
Bless..}

William Johnston Fitzsimmons and wife
Grace
Hi there,
At
last I have found Allegheny County, the place where William
Johnston Fitzsimmons seemed to blend with the plants and trees
he worked with. as yet I have not been successful in my
searching of the Pittsburgh area for the past 5-6 months.
William Johnston emigrated to the US either in 1919 or
1920, when I asked I was told he went to the Pittsburgh area.
As was the case in many families who emigrated from Ireland to
the US and Canada, Dad went first to check things out and get
setup, then save for the others to follow. That plan that was
put in place for the Fitzsimmons family, first - William
Johnston (the father) went, he then started to have the first
of the family follow as he quickly saved the money for her
fare. The order was to be Grace, Joseph, Edith, Hugh, Jackie,
Mary Jane (Maisie) and Charlie.
The plan was working fine as Grace arrived May 27, 1921 and
the following year Joseph arrived on Sept. 10, 1922, but then,
things unfortunately changed as sometime, before he had saved
the total fare to bring Edith who was next, he had a heart
attack and died, shortly after that Joseph decided to go back
to Ireland.
Grace however, she decided to stay
(perhaps due to the fact she later married Albert Schmidbauer
on Feb. 15, 1928). I found details of her marriage which was
in Wellsburg, West Virginia (including a copy of the marriage
certificate), but now I cannot find any evidence of where
Grace and Albert lived after the marriage. I think that I need
a pointer or something to help freshen the
search.

Robert Graham, b. 8 Sep 1807 and Ann S.
Unknown b. abt. 1810
Robert and Ann are my 2 Great Grandparents. According to census
reports, they were both born in Pennsylvania. I am trying
to find who their parents were. They had at least 5 children,
Eleanor M. b. 1836,
Elizabeth, b. abt. 1837, John, b.
abt. 1839. Margaret J. b. Aug 1842,
and James P. b. 1844. Eleanor was most likely
born in Pennsylvania, but the rest of the children were born
in Summit Co., Ohio. By 1840 the family was living in Bath
township, Summit Co., Ohio (census spelled their name
Garaham
) and in 1850 they were living in Northfield Township,
Summit Co., Ohio (census spelled their name
Grayham or Gragham). By 1860
Robert is living in Warren Co., Iowa with 3 of his children,
Eleanor (Ellen), Margaret, and James. I have found no trace of
Ann, Elizabeth or John after the 1850 census. Robert died
in 1875 and is buried in the IOOF cemetery in Indianola,
Warren Co., Iowa. The census indicates that Robert's parents
were both foreign born. Ann's last name may have been
Pollock, since one of her grandson's middle
name is Pollock.

Thomas N. Smith and Mary L.
Smith
Thomas N & Mary L Smith are my
paternal great grandparents. Census records for 1900,
1910, & 1920 record their presence in Allegheny County,
PA. Marriage in 1893 and both born in 1874 in PA. 1930
census records them in Albuquerque NM (my birth place).
Not sure what happened between TN and Mary (one of those
histories no one who had knowledge wanted to talk about
it!). Mary died in ABQ in 1957. I have no
family history on TN or Mary. Children were
Charles, Louisa, Margaret, Edna (my
grandmother) and Alice
. I
think the 3 eldest children were suffering from TB (the reason
for the family move to NM?). Edna died in ABQ in 1990
and Alice in El Paso TX 1995. I would like
to know who TN & Mary were – parents, siblings – census
indicates TN’s parents born in England, Mary’s born in
PA. Have been able to find info on other branches of the
family but this one stalled very quickly. Any help,
direction, would be greatly appreciated.

younger Emanuel's gravesite should be next to his parents
(Emanuel & Anna). He would have been between 2 &
4 years old when he died. Emanuel & Anna are my
Great-Grandparents and young Emanuel is my Great-Uncle.
Also, I was wondering if the Mount Carmel Cemetery has
an e-mail address? Thank you, Rachelle
