Located in Jackson Township.

Zelienople was settled in 1802 and incorporated in 1840.

The population was 4,123 at the 2000 census.

The borough has a total area of 2.2 square miles, of which, 2.1 square miles of it is land and 0.04 square miles of it (1.84%) is water.
