EMERY, CLARA E.
EMERY, Clara E. - Age 88 years of R.D. 1, Masontown, Pa., died Monday, February 24, 1975 in the Uniontown Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Simon and Anna Marie Meier. She was born July 25, 1886 in Pittsburgh, Pa. She was a member of the Masontown Jacobs Evangelical Lutheran Church. Surviving are her husband, Homer N. Emery; two sons, Francis Emery and Homer M. Emery Jr. both of R.D. 1, Masontown; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas E. (Sarah Jane) Davis of Perry, Ohio; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Grant R. Townsend Funeral Home, 220 S. Main St., Masontown this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.


EVANS, LESTER A.
EVANS, LESTER A. - Age 65 years, 8 months and 23 days, died in the Uniontown Hospital Saturday, January 30, 1965 at 3:45 p.m. He was a well known resident and educator of Masontown, Pa. Mr. Evans came to Masontown Schools in 1930 as the supervising principal of the Albert-Gallatin Jointure. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he received his Bachelor and Master's Degrees. He was a member and officer of the Masontown Methodist Church, President of the Methodist Men's Club, member and Past President of the Masontown Rotary Club, member of Valley Lodge 459 F. and A.M., Masontown, Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, Scottish Rite and Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh, Woodside Grauge 1008, Masontown Vol. Fire Dept., Charter member of the loacal Isaac Walton League, the P.S.E.A. and the N.E.A. He was the son of the late Albert and Alice Strawhecker Evans and is survived by his wife Violet Wolfe Evans and the following sisters and brothers, Miss Adda Evans, Harrisburg, Lloyd Evans, of Harrisburg, Dr. Paul Evans, Elizabethtown, Mrs. Dora Saltzer, Valley View, Dr. Mark Evans of West Chester and Marlin of Harrisburg. Friends will be received in the David J. Honsaker Funeral Home, Masontown, today from 2 until 4 and 7 until 10 p.m. and Tuesday until 2 o'clock the hour of service with the Rev. Clarence Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. The following organizations will visit the Funeral Home this evening. The Masontown Vol. Fire Dept. at 7, The Rotary Club at 7:30, Masonic Rite will be held at 8 by Valley Lodge F. and A.M. 459, Isaac Walton members will visit the Funeral Home after the services. Pallbearers, who have been chosen from the various organizations to which he belonged are: Howard Jankey, Robert Berish, Leslie Secoy, Frank Wheeler, Harry Riffle and James Fast.


Miss FAGAN Passes Away
Olive Thelma Fagan of McClellandtown died Monday in Uniontown Hospital at the age of 56. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fagan. Employed by Dr. William Hustead, she was a member of Jacobs Lutheran Church where she was choir director and a teacher of the adult Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Sunshine Class of McClellandtown Presbyterian Church. In addition she was a member of the Daughters of America, Fayette County District No. 5, Sunday School Assn., and German Grange No. 785. Surviving are a sister, Beatrice Bulger of McClellandtown and a brother, Francis of Footedale. Friends will be received in the Sangston Funeral Home, McClellandtown, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. the hour of service in Jacobs Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Markovits officiating. Burial will be in Jacobs Lutheran Cemetery.


FAGAN, FRANCIS E. (DUTCH)
FAGAN, Francis E. (Dutch) - Age 59 years, of McClellandtown, formerly of Footedale, died in the Uniontown Hospital Tuesday, June 1, 1976 at 9:20 p.m. after an extended illness. He was born at York Run, the son of a late Frank and Alice Yonkey Fagan. He was employed at the Colvin Shaft of Robena Mine. A member and former councilman of Jacobs Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of the UMWA Robena Local. He was predeceased by one brother, Clifford Fagan in 1967 and one sister, Thelma Fagan in 1971. Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Jacobs Fagan; the following children: Mrs. Calvin (Edith) Coughenour of Baltimore, Md.; Francis E. Fagan Jr. of New Salem; Cindy at home; six grandsons; one sister, Mrs. Beatrice Bulger of McClellandtown. Friends will be received in the T. Leonard Sangston Funeral Home, McClellandtown, Thursday evening from 7 to 9 and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

FLEMING, Eugenia Loucks - Age 64 years, of McClellandtown died in the Uniontown Hospital July 9, 1971 at 11:15 p.m. She was a daughter of the late Frank B. and Bertha Tulley Loucks. She was a former teacher in the German Twp. Schools; a member of the McClellandtown Presbyterian Church; Lina Bemies Class; a member of the Yough Ah Mon Chapter of N.C.H.A. Surviving are her husband J. Calvin Fleming; one son, William F. Fleming of Doylestown, Ohio; one granddaughter, Martha K. Fleming; the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. James A. FORDYCE, Alice Loretta Age 55 years of Lambert, died Saturday, January 22, 1972 at 1:55 a.m. in Uniontown Hospital after a lingering illness. She was born in McClellandtown, a daughter of the late Frank and Etta Core Coffman, She is survived by her husband, Claude and the following sons and daughters: C. Homes Fordyce of Luck, Wisconsin; Paul Fordyce and Louis Fordyce, both at home; Blaine Fordyce of McClellandotwn; Nevin Fordyce of Republic; Gary Fordyce of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Richard (Carol; Taylor of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Carl (Patty) Opel of McClellandtown; Mrs. Jerry (Brenda) Lawson of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Richard (Aleta) Lawson of Smithfield; Mrs. Frank (Barbara) Chervenak of Silver Spring, Md.; Mrs. Roger (Roma) Perriene of Silver Spring, Md.; twenty four grandchildren; the following sisters: Miss Elsie Coffman of Pittsburgh; Mrs. John Morris of McClellandtown; Mrs. Carl Brashear of Footedale and Mrs. James Galdarise of Uniontown. FORDYCE, JAMES E.
FORDYCE, James E. - aged 15, died Sunday, July 29, 1951, at 2:45 p. m. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Fordyce of Lamberton; brothers and sisters, Carol, Holmes, Patricia, Brenda, Aleta, Thomas, Paul, Blaine, Kevin, Gary, Barbara and Roma, all at home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Fordyce of McClellandtown, R. D. 1; maternal grandfather, Frank E. Coffman of McClellandtown and several aunts and uncles. Friends will be received in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Fordyce, after 6 o'clock this evening, where services will be conducted Tuesday, July 31, at 2 p. m., with Rev. Robert E. Osman of the New Salem Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Jacobs Lutheran cemetery, under the direction of the Sangston Funeral Home, McClellandtown.


FRANKS. MRS. BESSIE MAY
FRANKS. MRS. Bessie May - aged 59 years. She was born January 11, 1890 in Confluence, Pa. and died Friday morning, February 18, 1949 at 1 o'clock in the hospital at Houston. Texas, following a three month illness. Mrs. Franks was a resident of Houston for the past four years, prior to that she spent most of her life on the McClellandtown Road. German Township. She was preceded in death by two sons, Russell Franks and Reed Franks who was killed in World War II. Surviving are her husband, J. Presley Franks of Houston and two sons: Donald M. Franks of Houston, Texas and Kenneth P. Franks of Uniontown. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Thomas, Elaine, Fontaine and Lucinda; and two sisters: Mrs. Emma McGinnis of Messmore and Mrs. Bertha Bowser of Confluence, and one brother, John E. Durst of McClellandtown Road, Funeral arrangements are being made for burial in St. Jacob's Lutheran church cemetery at Woodside. Friends are being received in the Sangston Funeral Home, McClellandtown, where services will be conducted Monday morning, February 21, at 10:30, with Rev. David Hunter officiating. Burial will be in St. Jacobs Lutheran cemetery.


FRANKS, CLARA E.
FRANKS, Clara E. - aged 65 years, wife of William J. Franks, died in her home near Messmore Wednesday evening, July 5, 1944, at 7:30. In addition to her husband she is survived by the following children: Mrs. Amadee Moore and George E. Franks, of Dearth; Wendell C., of Messmore; Mrs. Martin Davis, of Gilmore; Ray, at home; Mrs. David Forsythe, of Dearth; one brother, Charles Coffman, of Masontown, and five grandchildren. Friends will be received in the home of her son, Wendell Franks, of Messmore, after 8:30 this evening where brief services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and followed by additional rites in the Church Hill Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Hunter officiating. Burial in Church Hill cemetery, McClellandtown, under the direction of the Sangston Funeral Home, McClellandtown.


FRANKS, CLINTON (JACK)
FRANKS, Clinton (Jack) - Age 76 years of R.D. 1, Smithfield, Pa., died suddenly Saturday, August 21. 1976 at 12:30 p.m. in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born January 13, 1900 at Continental 3, a son of the late Andrew J. and Mary E. Coffman Franks. Surviving are his wife, Nellie Goodwin Franks: two sons, James C. Franks of Smithfield R.D., Pa., and Charles J. Franks of Hurt, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Smith of Smithfield, Pa., Mrs. Clyde (Mildred) David of Uniontown, Pa. R.D. and Mrs. Ann Dillow of Philadelphia, Pa.; a brother, Weldon Franks of Uniontown, Pa. R.D. He was a member of the Smithfield United Methodist Church and the Mens Bible Class. He was a member and treasurer of York Run Grange No. 1699 for several years. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister Nellie in 1911. The family will receive friends in the John F. Brownfield Funeral Home, Smithfield today 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday until 2 p.m. the hour of service with Rev. Richard Downing officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. DAISY M. FRANKS
Mrs. Daisy M. Franks, 59, of 56½ West Peter street, Uniontown, died in the Uniontown Hospital, Sunday night, February 11, 1940, at 6 o'clock following a short illness. She was the widow of James Franks, who died about a year ago. She was the daughter of the late Calvin C. and Sallie Hauger Frey. Mrs. Franks was a member of Great Bethel Baptist church. She is survived by six sisters and a brother: Mrs. Viola Graham of Masontown; Mrs. Clara Potter of Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. Mazora Mulligan of Uniontown; Miss Ella Frey of Pittsburgh; Mrs. Margaret Saum of Watseka, Ill.; Mrs. Sadie Pace of Baltimore, Md., and Reuben Frey of Farmington. Friends are being received at the Minerd Funeral Home in East Church street. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.


FRANKS, ELMER
FRANKS, Elmer - age 69 years died in the Uniontown hospital, Wednesday morning, February 19, 1947 at 2:30 o'clock. He was a resident of Uniontown R. D. No. 3, Balsinger High House Road. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Rhodes Franks and the following children, E. J. of Fairchance; Clark of Detroit; Kenneth of Continental; Mrs. Dorothy Woods of Puritan; Mrs. Nellie Myers, John Edward, Robert, Twilla Jean and Louis all at home; also surviving are 9 grandchildren and one brother, Jack Franks of Leckrone; and two sisters, Mrs. Annie Martin of Uniontown and Mrs. Jennie Ross of Uniontown. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Friends will be received In the home of his son, E. J.Franks, 9 Morgantown St., Fairchance, after 6 o'clock this evening where brief services will be held Saturday, February 22, at 2 p. m. and followed by additional rites in the Pleasant View Presbyterian church with Rev. David Hunter officiating. Interment in the church cemetery under the direction of C. B. Dearth Sons, New Salem.


ELMORE J. FRANKS
Elmore J. Franks died at his home, near High House, Friday Oct. 25, 1929 at 2 a. m. of a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Franks was aged 82 years 7 months and 21 days. His wife preceded him in death 11 months, Nov. 22, 1928. Mr. Franks is survived by the following children; A. J., of Leckrone; W. J., of Messmore; E . E., of Newcomer; Mrs. Anna Martin, of Oliver; Mrs. Jane Ross of Uniontown, and John and James at home. One son and two daughters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at the home on, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, following service at St. Jacobs Lutheran church. Interment in church cemetery.


FRANKS, IRENE BLASKO
FRANKS, Irene Blasko - Aged 26, of House 128, Leckrone, died at the Uniontown hospital at 12:45 a. m. Friday, April 16. She is survived by her husband, Ray W. Franks and one child, one month old, Ursula Rae, and her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. John Blasko, of Leckrone; sister Anna, of Harrisburg, brother John, of Fort Knox, Ky., and sister Julia at home. She will be taken to her home Saturday morning from the Yoney Funeral Home, Masontown. Funeral arrangements announced later. FRANKS, MRS. Irene Blasko - aged 25 years and 4 months, well known resident of Leckrone, died Friday morning at 12:45 o'clock in the Uniontown Hospital. She leaves her husband, Ray Franks, and a month old daughter, Ursula Rae; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Blasko, of Leckrone; two sisters, Anna, of Harrisburg; Julia at home, and one brother, John, Jr., at Fort Knox, Ky. Funeral services will be conducted in the home of her parents, House No. 128, Leckrone Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock, followed by solemn high mass in St. Mary's R. C. Church at Leckrone. Rev. Father Eugene, celebrant, Rev. Father F. S. Kondrla deacon. Burial in the Church Cemetery under the direction of the Yoney Funeral Home, Masontown.


JOHN A. FRANKS
John A. Franks, 44, died at 4:30 o'clock Thursday morning in his home in German township, near High House. He was born, September 21, 1891, the son of the late E. J. and Sarah Jane Franks and had been a life long resident of that district. Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: A. J. Franks, High House; W. J. Franks, J. W. Franks and E. E. Franks, McClellandtown; Mrs. Anna Martin and Mrs. Jane Ross, Uniontown. Friends may view the body until Saturday afternoon in the Dearth Funeral Home, New Salem. It will then be removed to the home where short funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock followed by additional services in Jacob's Lutheran church, German township, in charge of Rev. David Hunter.


JAMES W. FRANKS
Funeral rites for James W. Franks, aged 55, of Continental 2, who was found dead early Sunday evening, April 30, 1939, in a small building near the old Hygeia ice plant here, will be held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon in the Jacobs Lutheran church, near McClellandtown. Rev. David Hunter will officiate and, burial will be in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Albert and Samuel Sapper, Thomas and Ellsworth Hostetler and Clyde and Louis Sumey. Friends will be recieved at the Johnston Mortuary, 65 North Gallatin Avenue, until 1:30 Wednesday afternon when the funeral cortege will leave for the church. Surviving are three brothers A. J. Franks and W. J. Franks, of McClellandtown, and Elmer E., of Uniontown R. D. 3, and two sisters Mrs. Anna L. Martin and Mrs. Jennie Ross, both of Uniontown. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Several lads, who peered into the shanty as they passed, discovered the body. They notified the police and Chief Davis and Patrolman Moorehouse investigated. They reported the discovery to Coroner S. A. Baltz. It is believed that acute alcoholism or poison liquor resulted in death. In the man's pockets were found a social security card, a cake of soap and a soiled handkerchief. On the card the postoffice address was Box 170. At the time of his death Franks wore a cap, sweater, coat and light gray trousers.


FRANKS, MRS. MARGARET
FRANKS, MRS. Margaret - Aged 55 years of Uniontown R. D. 3, died in the Uniontown Hospital at 11:50 a.m. Sunday. January 18, 1959. Surviving are the following children. Mrs. Nellie Mae Myers at home: John Edward, Englewood, Colorado: Mrs. Dorothy Louise Woods, Puritan; Robert at home; Mrs. Twila Jean Pfoutz, West Brownsville; Louis at home; three step children E. J Franks, Farmington, Clark Franks Detroit, Mich., Kenneth Franks, Uniontown; 9 grandchildren; three sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Minnie Clink and Mrs. Mabel Schiripa of California, Pa.; Mrs. Clara Gordon of West Brownsville R. D. 1; Elmer Rhodes of West Brownsville; Roy and Woodrow of Cleveland, Ohio; John of Staten Island, N.Y. Friends will be received after 2 p. m. today in the Sangston Funeral Home, McClellandtown, where services will be held Thursday, January 22, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Carl DeCaro officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in Howe Cemetery, California, Pa.


FRANKS, MARY E.
FRANKS, Mary E. - Aged 79 years, wife of A. J. Franks of German Township, near McClellandtown died in her home, Tuesday evening, February 8, 1955 at 9:15 o'clock. The daughter of the late David and Sarah Moore Coffman she was born March 20, 1875 in German Township, where she had spent her entire life. She was a member of the Grace Chapel Presbyterian Church of High House. In addition to her husband, she is survived by the following children: Clinton of R. D. 1, Smithfield; Hazel Smith of McClellandtown: Mildred David of R. D. 2, Uniontown; Ruth Dillon of Philadelphia; and Weldon at home, also surviving are four grandchildren and four great grandchildren and four brothers: Thomas Calvin, Ira D. and H. Dale Coffman all of Uniontown and Frank E. Coffman of McClellandtown. She was predeceased by a daughter, Nellie. Friends are being received in the C. B. Dearth Sons Funeral Home, New Salem until Friday morning at 11 o'clock and in the Jacobs Lutheran Church, German Township from 12 until 2, the hour of services with Rev. John Richardson, pastor of the Grace Chapel Church, officiating; and Rev, W. H. Kibler, pastor of the Jacobs Lutheran Church, assisting. Interment will be in the Jacobs Lutheran Church cemetery.


FRANKS, MATTIE M.
FRANKS, Mattie M. - Age 98 years of 685 Morgantown Rd., Uniontown, died Monday evening, October 29, 1979 at her home. She was born December 3, 1880 in German Twp, the daughter of the late, Daniel F. and Elizabeth Newcomer Hostetler. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Mahlon Franks and a son, W. Jesse Franks. Mrs. Franks was a lifelong member of Jacobs Lutheran Church, the Adult Sunday School Class and the Lutheran Church Women. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Franks of Uniontown, Mrs. Emily Moser of Rubles Mill, Pa., Mrs. Martha Camlin of Uniontown and Mrs. Dorothy Brown of McClellandtown; two sons, D. Herbert Franks of Uniontown and Mahlon Franks of Aurora Shores, Ohio; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren. The family will receive friends in the Andrew D. Ferguson Funeral Home, 80 Morgantown St., this evening from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday in the Jacobs Lutheran Church from 12 noon until 1 p.m., the hour of service. Rev. Paul Markovits, her pastor will officiate. Interment in Jacobs Lutheran cemetery.


FRANKS, MARGARET (ROSENECKER)
FRANKS, Margaret (Rosenecker) - Age 72 years, of 375 Derrick Ave., Uniontown, died in the family residence on Tuesday, January 10, 1978. She was born November 10, 1905, in Connellsville, the daughter of the late Charles J. and Hanna T. Fletcher Rosenecker. She was a member of St. John's R.C. Church, the Rosary Society of the church and was a retired school teacher, formerly with the Menallen Twp. School District. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Franks, on May 31, 1970. Surviving are two sisters, Miss Cecelia Rosenecker at home and Mrs. Bernard (Anna) Hearn of N. Shields, England; three brothers, Charles of Fayetteville, W.Va., and Malachi and Arthur, both of Buffalo, N.Y. The family will receive friends Thursday and Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Robert S. Oats Funeral Home, 71 Pennsylvania Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, Jan. 14, 1978, at 9:30 a.m. in St. John's R.C. Church with Rev. Fr. Stephen McCarren as celebrant. Interment will be in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. Parish Rosary will be recited in the funeral home Friday at 8 p.m.


FRANKS, NELLIE (GOODWIN)
FRANKS, NELLIE (GOODWIN) - Age 82 years, of Smithfield R.D. 1, Pa., died Saturday, July 22, 1978, at the Miller Convalescent Care Center in Uniontown. She was born July 7, 1896, in Georges Twp., Pa., a daughter of the late Charles R. and Harriet E. Bowers Goodwin. She was a member of the Smithfield United Methodist Church, the York Run Grange No. 1699, and the Pomona Grange. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton (Jackie) Franks, in 1976; a sister, Happy Rugh; five brothers, Charles R., Grover, John, Ben and Coleman. Surviving are two sons: Charles J. Franks of Gretna, Va. and James C. Franks of Smithfield R.D.; seven grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Katie Mallory of Lake Lynn, Pa. and Miss Emily Goodwin of Smithfield R.D. The family will receive friends in the John F. SARA JANE FRANKS
Sara Jane Franks died at her home in German township, Thursday afternoon, November 22, 1928, at 3 o'clock of a complication of diseases. Mrs. Franks was 82 years, 3 months, 18 days old. She is survived by her husband, five sons and two daughters. One son and two daughters preceded her in death. Those living are A. J. Franks of Leckrone, W. J. Franks of Messmore, E. E. Franks of Newcomer, Mrs. Anna Martin of Oliver, Mrs. Jane Ross of Uniontown, John and James at home. She also is survived by 22 grandchildren. A service will be held at the home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, followed by a service at St. Jacob's Lutheran church and burial in St. Jacob's cemetery. The Rev. David Hunter, pastor of Grace Chapel Presbyterian church, will be in charge.


FRANKS, LT. (Jg) THOMAS REED
Funeral services for Lieutenant (Jg) Thomas Reed Franks, U. S. N. R., who was killed April 16, 1945 while serving with the USN will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 in the Sangston Funeral Home, McClellandtown, with the Rev. David Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Church Hill cemetery. Military rites at the graveside will be conducted by the American Legion Fort Mason Post 423 and the Faith Gray McArdle Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Pallbearers: James A. Gault, Samuel Shuss, Paul Evans, Robert Newcomer, Wendell McGinnis, and George Lilley, Jr. Lt. Franks was a member of the German Township High school faculty from September 1937 until he enlisted in the Navy on December 3, 1943. Following his enlistment, he trained at Cornell University, Norfolk, Va.; Philadelphia, and St. Simons Island, Georgia, and at the time of his death was serving aboard the U.S.S. Bryant in the Asiatic theater at the time of his death, He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret Coffman Franks, and one son, Thomas Lee Franks. He was the son of J. Presley Franks and the late, Bessie M. Franks of Houston, Texas. Also surviving are two brothers, Donald M. Franks of Houston, Texas, and Kenneth P. Franks, of Uniontown.


WELDON L. FRANKS
Weldon L. Bud Franks, 78, of R.D.2, Uniontown, who also was a resident of the Laurel Health Center in Uniontown, died Saturday in Uniontown Hospital. He is survived by one sister, Ruth Dillon of Stowe, Vt.; and four nephews: Robert Franks of Stowe, Vt., Charles Franks of Lynchburg, Va., James Franks of Smithfield: and Berwyn David of Uniontown R.D.2. FRANKS, MRS. Wilmenia Jones - aged 64, wife of H. K. Franks of 75 Nutt Ave., died In the Uniontown Hospital Friday evening, February 18, 1949, at 5:40. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Robert H. Franks and one daughter, Mrs. Violet Franks McCormick of Uniontown; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Newcomer of Uniontown; Mrs. Mary Donnelly of Clairton; Mrs. Emma Malone of Smithfield; three grandchildren. She was a member of the Third Presbyterian church, Class 13, Ladies Aid and Missionary Society. Friends will be received after 4:30 this afternoon in the late residence, where services will be conducted Monday afternoon, February 21, at 3 o'clock, with Dr. Lorne H. Belden officiating. FRANKS, William J. - age 71 years and one month, died at his home near McClellandtown Saturday morning, June 22, 1946, at 1:25 o'clock. Mr. Franks was a lifelong resident of German Township and was a member of the Grace Chapel Presbyterian church, High House. His wife, Clara Coffman Franks, preceded him in death July 5, 1944. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Amadee Moore, George and Mrs. David Forsythe, all of Uniontown; Wendell of Messmore, Mrs. Martin Davis of Leckrone and Ray, at home. FRANKS, William Kenneth - Age 70 years of House 34, Continental No. 3, died at his residence, Sunday, June 17, 1979 at 6:45 a.m. He was born in German Twp. (Balsinger) on March 15, 1909 the son of the late Elmer and Mary Jane Hess Franks. He was a retired coal miner. Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Springer Franks; a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Dolores) Fabryeki of Hartford, Conn.; a son Kenneth Jr. of Elkhart, Ind.; four grandchildren. Walter Eugene Fabryeki, Corey Christopher Fabryeki, Dawn Renee Fabryeki and Mark Edward Franks; two brothers, John Franks of Littleton, Colo. and Lewis Eugene Franks of Uniontown and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clark and E.J. Franks. GADD, SARAH JANE - aged 82, widow of the late Elijah O. Gadd, died in the Uniontown Hospital Friday morning at 8:30. She was born Oct. 30, 1865, in German Twp., near Lamberton, where she spent her entire life. She was a daughter of the late George and Martha M. Jeffries Moore. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mary Moser of McClellandtown, a son, Kenneth, at home and a grandson, Raymond Moser, also at home. A brother, Frank E. Moore of New Salem, also survives. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Ethel, one brother, J. Newton Moore and a sister, Lydia Antrarn. Friends are being received at the C. B. GALDERISE, Ora L. Coffman - Age 68 years of Uniontown, Pa. died Monday, March 16, 1992, in Uniontown Hospital. She was born March 3, 1924, in McClellandtown, Pa., daughter of the late Frank E. and Etta Core Coffman. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, James A. Galderise in 1987; and seven brothers and sisters: Elsie Coffman, Margaret Morris, Glenn Coffman, Alice Fordyce, Ruth Brashear, and Wendell and Robert Coffman. Revere Miner Is Fatally Injured Suffers Broken Back Under Fall Of Slate
Injured in a fall of slate, December 23, in Nemacolin mine, Kenneth Eugene GALES, aged 26, of Messmore, succumbed Sunday morning, December 29, 1940, in Uniontown Hospital. He suffered a broken back and fractured leg. He was born August 14, 1914, at Humbert, Pa., a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Gales, who now reside in Uledi. In addition to his parents, he leaves his widow, Lavina Firestone Gales; two daughters, D. Rae Donn, aged 21 months, and Marline, aged eight months, and four brothers, William, New York; Carl, Messmore, and Lester and George, Jr., both of Uledi. Brief prayer rites will be conducted at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at the George Gales residence, with the main services to follow in Free Methodist Church, McClellandtown. Rev. William Cowsert, the pastor, will be assisted by Rev. O. R. Tessaro, of Greensburg. Burial will follow in Oak Grove cemetery, under the direction of T. Leonard Sangston, McClellandtown.

A well known Smithfield resident, Jack Worrick Gallatin, died Sunday, April 27, 1958, at 1 a.m. in Uniontown Hospital after an extended illness. Born in Clayton, Kan., Mr. Gallatin was a son of the late Joseph G. and Lucy Jane Sprague Gallatin. He was an employe of the U.S. Steel Corp. in the Collier Supply office. GAULT, Helma Dannels - Age 71 years, a resident of McClellandtown R.D., died in the Laurel Rest Home, Uniontown, on Thursday evening, January 22, 1976. She was born January 28, 1904 in New Castle, a daughter of the late George and Anna Watson Dannels. She was a member of the Dunlap Creed United Presbyterian Church, Merrittstown and the Women's Association of the church. She was a graduate of California State College, California, Pa., and was a retired teacher, having taught in the Redstone, German and Springhill Townships, and in Point Marion. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Margaret Caven Shrine, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving are her husband, Thomas W. Gault; one brother, Dr. Gordon E. Dannels of Swissvale; sixteen nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law, Mary G. Dannels of Laurel, Maryland. Friends will be received in the Dearth Funeral Home, New Salem, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 12 noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and until Monday at 11 a.m., the hour of service, with Rev. She was born Aug. 21, 1898, in Georges Township, Pa., daughter of the late Charles R. and Harriet Bowers Goodwin. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by five brothers, Grover C., Coleman, John B., Bennie, and Charles R. LIDA B. GOODWIN
Miss Lida B. Goodwin, following a lingering illness, died Saturday afternoon, January 16, 1932, at 3:30 o'clock, at the home of an aunt, Miss Elizabeth Coffman, 154 Union street, where she resided. Three years ago Miss Goodwin went to Pasadena, Cal., to make her home but was compelled by illness to return here last May. Miss Goodwin was born in Georges township, a daughter of the late Walter and Jennie Coffman Goodwin. She was a member of the Third Presbyterian church and of the Bethany Class of that Sunday school. Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Harry B. Goodwin, of Canton, Ohio; Mrs. Emily Brownfield, Ray, Earl and Wilbert Goodwin, all of the Morgantown road. Funeral services will be solemnized at the home this afternoon at 1 o'clock, in charge of, Dr. W. Scott Bowman, superintendent of Redstone Presbytery. Burial in Smithfield cemetery.

High House Miner Killed
A Fayette county man was killed Tuesday in an accident at the Nemacolin mine of Buckeye Coal company. Thomas GOWER, 32, of near High House, died instantly when he fell or was knocked off a string of empty cars and went under the wheels. The accident took place about 11 p.m., shortly before Mr. Gower's shift was due to end. A snapper in the mine, Mr. Gower was a member of Nemacolin local of the United Mine Workers and Grace Chapel Presbyterian church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Maude Early Gower; two children, Charles and Sandria, at home; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Gower, High House, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Iva Diamond, and Robert, Woodside; James, Betty and Donna Rae, High House; Mrs. Alice Grubles, Vances Mill: Donald, Messmore, and Mrs. Jean Hurvosky, Cleveland. GROVE, RUssell Neale - age 50 years of Bedford, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 19, 1974 in the Bedford Universal Hospital, Bedford, Ohio at 2:30 p.m. He was born on December 25, 1923 in Ronco. Funeral services will be held Wednesday for Arthur P. Guseman, 68, of Farmington, well known Uniontown area school director, who died yesterday in his home of an apparent heart attack. Friends will be received in the Ferguson Funeral Home from 7 to 9 tonight, from 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, and until Wednesday at 11 a.m. when services will be held with his pastor, Rev. Thomas R. Thomas, officiating. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park. The family requests that contributions be made of a favorite charity in lieu of flowers. A school board member for some 20 years, Mr. Guseman was a member of the Uniontown Area School Board, Fayette County Vocational Technical School Board, and the Intermediate Unit I (Fayette Greene Washington) School Board. Owner of the Uniontown Hardware and Supply Co., he was a member of Laurel Lodge No. 651, F&AM, Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, Pittsburgh Consistory, Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, Caravan No. 9, Fayco Forest. 152, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Uniontown. Mr. Guseman was born Jan. 24, 1906, in Smithfield, a son of the late George and Louvarah (Nace) Guseman. He is survived by his wife, Fay Moore Guseman; two sons, Phillip in Uniontown and John M., in Caracas, Venezuela; two grandchildren, and a sister. Mrs. Gilbert (Evelyn) Heeter, in Messmore. She was born July 26, 1894 in Smithfield, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles and Cora Hayden Ewing. She was a retired Fayette County school teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hamilton on November 30, 1976. Surviving are a son, George A. Hamilton of Bartlesville, Okla., with whom she had resided; a daughter, Coradel Hamilton of Clearwater, Fla.; two grandchildren and a sister, Mrs, R.K. (Marguerite) Bent of Fayetteville, Ark. Private funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 13, at 2 p.m. in the John F. Brownfield Funeral Home, Smithfield, with Rev. William M. Hormell of 51 Murray Ave., Uniontown, the superintendent of grounds and buildings at California State College, died yesterday in the Uniontown hospital at the age of 68. The son of the late Nathaniel C. and Mary White Hormell, he was a member of the first Christian Church of California, the JROUAM Col. A. L. Hawkings Council of California, the Society of Institutional Engineers and the Hungry Club. Survivors include his wife, Alma Heintzleman Hormell, and two children, Atty. Oliver N. A life long resident of Fayette County, he was born October 8, 1880, the son of the late Amzi and Samantha Ganoe Lyons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ellen Spiker in 1958. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving are three sons, Clarence of Ravenna, Ohio, Bernard of Pt. Marion, and Morgan (Buck) of Phillippi, W. Va.; six daughters, Mrs. James (Margaret) Sethman of Centerville, Mrs. Kathryn Christopher of Pt. Marion, Mrs. Betsy Townsend and Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Miller, both of Smithfield, Mrs. Chester (Rosella) Haught of Lake Lynn, and Mrs. Henry (Edna) Jenkins of Richeyville; fourteen grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Louis E. Rudolph Funeral Home, Pt. Marion after 7 p.m. today. Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 P.M., and until 2 p.m. Wednesday, the hour of service with Rev. Francis Culler, pastor of the Oak Grove Christian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
