Our old friend, Lyrus Greek, who at present resides at Blairsville, has been appointed by the Penna. Railroad Company supervisor of division 12, which consists of the Tyrone and Bald Eagle Valley branches. This is an excellent appointment, and the Railroad Company will find that they have put "the right man in the right place." Mr. H. W. Miller has been promoted to the foremanship made vacant by the advancement of Mr. Greek, and Mr. Pelor Beatty takes the place of Miller on the ballast train. All excellent appointments.

Blairsville, during the past few weeks has been unusually dull, and business almost completely at a stand still, yet, our merchants are offering goods at reduced prices, and are trying to run off their stocks at prices, away down, down, in order to make room for their spring goods. There is no reason for any person going away from home to buy their goods, when they can just as well get all they want at home and just as cheap. Give our merchants the same chance you have to give to the city dealers, show them the cash, let them know you have it to sock down, and we will guarantee you buy your goods as cheap as you can in the city then you are encouraging home, and helping to build up your own town, and make things look lively. Try it on - go the Maher or Richardson for your groceries, to Long or Cunningham for your dry goods, to Charley Miller for your boots and shoes, to C.C. Davis for your furniture, to Ignatius Heim for the clothing, to Will. G. Triece for your salts and pills and "sich."
Rev. A. J.M. Brown of Bedford is at present on a flying visit to his old home of Blairsville, and is looking fine, hale and hearty.
We are having quite a nice snow and the way it is putting it down just now looks as though we might yet get one sleigh ride, before the winter season is out.
