| Hanke, George | With feelings of the deepest regret we this day communicate the unexpected death of our esteemed friend George Hanke, Esq., who died on Monday morning the 26th ult., at about 6 o'clock, after an indisposition of about two weeks, in the 35th year of his age. The deceased was editory of the German "Independent Republican" at Allentown, for the four last years, during which time, his remitted exertions for the maintainance of correct principles, had justly secured him the respect and esteem of his numerous patrons. He was also Postmaster for several years, and fulfilled the duties of the office with punctuality and integrity. The deceased has left a disconsolate widow, with two small children, to lament the loss of an affectionate husband and tender parent. On Wednesday following his remains were interred with Masonic honors, accompanied by an unusually large train of sympathizing friends and relatives. Long will the memory of the deceased survive in the hearts of those who knew him. - Easton Centinel. | 11 Feb 1824 Page 3 | Republican Compiler Gettysburg, Pennsylvania | Nancy Piper |
