Mullins, Mortimer A Sad Affair: Wednesday afternoon Coroner Moser held an inquest on the body of Mortimer Mullins, who was kolled by the falling of a tree on the morning of the 1st of April. Deceased was employed at Nathan Whiteleys's ore bed until a short time ago he was out of work. A tree was being felled on the property of Mr. Oliver Moser, on the road between Trexlertown and Breinigsville. Deceased was at his shanty in the immediate neighborhood of the spot where the tree stood and he, with others, was called to give a pull at a rope which was attached thereto. essrs. Nathan Moorhard and Willima Breinig are lessees of the property, and they have always been specially good to these workmen who live in the shanties, and such a favor is never refused by them. As they pulled at the rope the tree fell towards them and deceased was struck by one of the branches on the head. He was carried a short distance and died in about twenty minutes, before medical aid could be procured. He was between dorty-five and fifty years of age, sober and industrious and generally respected. He had been in this country nearly three years, and a short time ago sent for his wife and two daughters, who arrived from England six weeks ago. The distress of the unfortunate widow is described as being terrible to witness. She paced up and down the shanty yesterday giving vent to her feelings in piercing cries. She is well nigh distracted, and it was utterly useless to attempt to quiet her. The funeral took place in the Catholic Cemetery of this city today. The Jury rendered a verdict of accidental death. - Allentown News. 4 Apr 1873
