Josephine Latoore
The funeral of Josephine, aged 3, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Latoore, of 19 East Railroad street, [Pittston] will be held this afternoon at 2:30. Interment will be in St. John's cemetery. The child died Saturday morning [September 5, 1931] following a few days illness of pneumonia. Besides her parents she is survived by five sisters, Mary, Angelina, Helena, Jennie, and Helen.

Colombo Nardone
Colombo, aged 18 months, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vincenzo Nardone, of 602 Luzerne avenue, West Pittston, died yesterday morning [September 6, 1931] at 10 following a brief illness of complications. Besides his parents he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Orlando, Harry, Dante, Elizabeth, Gilda, and Julio. Funeral notice later.

Matus Cebula, 50, died yesterday morning [December 25, 1931] at 4 at his home, 613 Spring Street, Avoca, following a week's illness of pneumonia. He is survived by his wife and five children: Mrs. John Simon, Mrs. Martin Rogan, Mrs. Stanley Malinowski, Joseph, and Ignatz. The funeral will be held from the home on Monday morning at 8:30. A requiem high mass will be celebrated in SS. Peter and Paul's church, Avoca, and interment will be in the church cemetery.

The death of Matthew Cebula, 50, occurred on Friday [December 25, 1931] at 4, at his home on 613 Spring street, Avoca, following an illness of asthma. He was born in Poland and was a member of St. Peter and Paul's church. He is survived by his wife and the following children Effie, Chir, Nellie, Rose, Ignac and Joseph. The funeral will be held on Monday morning at 9 from the home on Spring street with a requiem high mass at 9:30 at St. Peters and Paul's church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Elmer Ferguson
Mrs. Elmer Ferguson of 309 York avenue, West Pittston, a well known and highly esteemed young woman, died yesterday morning [September 7, 1931] at her home. Mrs. Ferguson had been ill of complications for several weeks.
Born in the Oregon section of the city [Pittston] she was formerly Mary Mangan, daughter of Mrs. Margaret and the late Martin Mangan who were early settlers of Pittston. She had resided at the Mangan homestead with her family for the last few years. Deceased was a member of St. John church and the Altar and Rosary society.
A woman of loveable nature and amiable disposition, the deceased bore her illness with true Christian fortitude and gained the admiration of those who attended to her. She is survived by her husband, Elmer Ferguson, well known Suburban League umpire; two children, Elmer, Jr. and Joseph Frederick; her mother, Mrs. Margaret Mangan, and the following brothers and sisters: Michael, Mrs. H. J. Kohl of Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. Joseph M. Mooney of Kingston, M. Joseph at home, and Jeanne, a student nurse at King's County hospital, Brooklyn.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday morning at 9. A requiem high mass will be sung at 9:30 in St. John's church. Interment will be in St. John's cemetery.

Ferguson Obsequies
One of the largest funerals held in West Pittston in recent weeks was that of Mrs. Elmer Ferguson which took place yesterday morning at 9 from the home of her mother, Mrs. Margaret Mangan, 309 York avenue, West Pittston. The affection held for Mrs. Ferguson was further attested to by the many lovely floral tributes that were in evidence. Rev. Edward J. Melley was celebrant of a solemn requiem mass in St. John's church at 9:30. He was assisted by Revs. D. Giovanio and Frederick Bosticco of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church. The casket was borne by John Carden, Joseph and Andrew McGowan, James Mooney, William and Michael Devers. Interment was in St. John's cemetery.

Allen Joseph Cuddy
Allan Joseph Cuddy, 10, died last evening [December 27, 1931] at 5 at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Ura Klein, 349 New Grant street, of heart trouble. The youngster was a pupil at the Hillard Grove school and was a member of Bennett Memorial M. E. Sunday school.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mabel Cuddy; a brother, Donald, and his grandmother, Mrs. Martha Gardner. The funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon with short services at the home at 2. Additional services will be conducted in Bennett Memorial M. E. church at 2:30. Rev. Dr. Charles H. Newing, pastor, will officiate.

Pioneer Resident Dead
A pioneer resident in the person of Mrs. Margaret Howley passed to her reward yesterday morning [September 13, 1918] at the family home in Browntown at 6 o'clock. She had lived in Browntown all her life and belonged to one of the pioneer families there. Her husband died five years ago. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. James Tigue, Belinda, Iona, Blanche, Catherine, Josephine, Martin, and Joseph of Pittston; Mrs. John Martin of New York, and John of Hartford, Conn.

M. J. Kelly, Retired Engineer, Succumbs
Ill two months, Michael J. Kelly, 191 South Maple Avenue, Kingston, retired locomotive engineer and the brother of three nuns, passed away yesterday morning [December 21, 1956] at 7:30 at his home.
The funeral will be held Monday at 10 from the John J. Maher Funeral Home, 360 North Maple Avenue, Kingston, with a solemn high mass of requiem at 10:30 in St. Ignatius Church. Interment in parish cemetery. Friends may call daily 2 to 4 and 7 to 10.
Born in Dushore, Mr. Kelly was a son of the late Peter and Mary Whalen Kelly, he resided in Kingston the past 50 years and was employed by the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad as a locomotive engineer for 48 years. He retired September 10, 1954. Mr. Kelly was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kingston, its Holy Name Society and Lodge 543, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
Surviving are his wife, the former Alice C. McHugh; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph E. [V.] Pringle, Jr., Kingston; three grandchildren; a brother, Peter J., Detroit, Mich.; sisters, Sister Mary Peter, Sister Mary Eileen and Sister Marie Paul, all members of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, stationed in Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Henry Klein, Westbury, Long Island, N.Y.

Michael J. Kelly
The funeral of Michael J. Kelly, retired engineer, of 191 South Maple Avenue, Kingston, was held yesterday morning from Maher Funeral Home, 360 North Maple Avenue, Kingston
Very Rev. Joseph S. Gagion was celebrant of the solemn requiem mass in St. Ignatius Church; Rev. John McLaughlin, deacon, and Rev. Eugene J. Devit, subdeacon. Mrs. Bernard Purcell was organist. Interment was in the parish cemetery where Rev. Father Gagion pronounced final benediction.
Honorary pallbearers, members of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, were Eugene Vahey, Edward Kirby, J. J. Kelly, Harry Flanagan, T. T. Callahan, Warren Ruth.
Pallbearers, also Brotherhood members, were John Mack, Joseph Hosey, Joseph and Thomas Donohue, Myles Kelly, and Matthew Ryan.

MRS. ALICE KELLY
Mrs. Alice C. Kelly, 72, of 189 Maple Avenue, Kingston, died early yesterday morning [November 10, 1960] at her home following a lingering illness. She was the widow of Michael J. Kelly, retired DL&W locomotive engineer who died December 21, 1956.
Mrs. Kelly was born in Kingston October 17, 1888, daughter of the late Edward and Mary Gannon McHugh, pioneer Kingston residents. She is the last member of a prominent West Side Family with several brothers and sisters preceding her in death.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Churdh, Kingston, Altar and Rosary Society; LCBA, Branch 443.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joseph V. Pringle, Jr., at home; four grandchildren, Joseph, Kathleen, Anne, and Mollie, at home.
Funeral will be held from the Maher Funeral Home, 360 North Maple Avenue, Kingston, Monday morning at 9. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Church at 9:30. Interment in parish cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call Saturday and Sunday 2 to 5 and 7 to 10.

MISS MARGARET KELLY
Miss Margaret Kelly, 90, of 191 S. Maple Ave., Kingston, formerly of Dushore, died Friday [April 18, 1980] at the Carpenter Care Center, Tunkhannock.
Born in Dushore, a daughter of the late Peter and Mary Whelan Kelly, she resided most of her life in Dushore. She was a graduate of St. Basil High School and a member of St. Basil Church.
Surviving are sisters, Sister Marie Paul, IHM, and Sister Eileen Kelly, IHM, both of Monroe, Mich., niece, Mary Alice Pringle, with whom she resided.
Funeral Wednesday at 10 in the McLaughlin Funeral Home, 416 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in St. Ignatius Church. Interment in St. Ignatius' Cemetery, Pringle. There will be no calling hours.

GEORGE KROL
George Krol, 57, of 27 Prospect Hill, Alden, died yesterday afternoon [March 24, 1935] at 1:20 in Nanticoke State Hospital following an illness of complications. He was admitted to the institution on February 28. Deceased was born in Poland and resided in Newport Township for many years. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Nanticoke.
Surviving are his wife and two children, Mrs. Sophia Janora and Matilda Krol; two sisters in Europe; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Golka of Lowell, Mass.

Former Resident Dies (Michael James)
Local residents will be grieved to learn of the death of Michael James, a former resident of this town [Plymouth PA], who died at his home in Philadelphia Sunday evening [June 1, 1924] following a stroke of paralysis. Mr. James had been a life-long resident of Plymouth until two years ago when he moved to Philadelphia. He later spent some time in Oklahoma as the guest of relatives and returned to Philadelphia a few months ago. While a resident of this town he was employed at the Nottingham mines since his boyhood. His strict attention to duty gained for him official recongntion and for many years was employed as a fire boss there. In this capacity he was regarded as one of the most conscientious men in the employ of the company. He was never found negligent or distrustful and these features gained for him the admiration of a large following of friends. He was buried yesterday in Bethlehem.

Death of Mrs. Flynn
Mrs. Peter Flynn, a well known and much respected resident of the community, died early yesterday morning [October 14, 1930] at her home, 208 Parsonage street [Pittston]. Mrs. Flynn had not been in good health for some time past but was thought to be recovering. Shortly before 7 o'clock yesterday morning her daughter, Isabel, upon going to her parent's room found Mrs. Flynn dead.
Deceased was a resident of the city [Pittston} for many years and had gained the respect of all who knew her. She was a member of St. John's church and the Altar and Rosary society thereof. She is survived by the following sons and daughters: Frances, Mrs. Patrick Fee of Washington, D.C.; Leo, Mrs. William Kelly, Margaret, Isabel, Joseph, Hazel, and Helen all at home. also her mother, Mrs. Patrick Manley of Ireland and the following sisters: Mrs. T. J. Williams, Pittston; Mrs. A. L. Smith, Forty Fort; Ellen and Marie Manley of Ireland, and one brother Michael Manley, also of Ireland.

Edward Howley Dead
Word was received in this city yesterday [July 16, 1915] announcing the death of Edward Howley of New York, a former resident of Browntown. The telegram stated that he was ill only three days. He was born and brought up in Browntown and resided here until 12 years ago when he moved to New York. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Margaret, his mother, Mrs. Margaret Howley of Browntown, and the following brothers and sisters: Thomas, James Joseph, John, Mrs. James Tighe, Bennie, Catherine, Laura, and Blanche, all of this city, and Mrs. James Maloney of New York. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning in New York. A number of relatives left last night to attend the services. He is also survived by a brother, Thomas. The cause of death was acute indigestion.

Thomas Howley
Eyesight Restored, Death Followed
Thomas Howley, an aged resident of Browntown, died early Saturday morning [May 24, 1913] in Philadelphia of heart failure, following a successful operation by which his signt was restored. The deceased lost his signt over eight years ago and accompanied by his daughter, left several wseeks ago for Philadelphia, where he underwent treatment. On Tuesday the operation was performed and was successful. No sooner was his signt restored than he was seized with an attack of heart failure and the members of his family were summoned to his bedside. They arrived Friday evening and were present when he passed away. Deceased was a native of Ireland and when a young man came to this country, settling in Browntown and was widely known. The remains were brought to his home Saturday night. He is survived by his wife and the following sons and daughters: Thomas, John, Edward, and Mrs. J. F. Maloney of New York, Mrs. James Tighe of Pittston, Martin, James, Joseph, Belinda, Catherine, Loretta, and Blanche, all at home. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning with a solemn high mass in St. John's R. C. Church at 9:30 o'clock. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.

Richard Missitt, Sr.
Veteran Railroader Dies
At 12:30 yesterday afternoon [October 14, 1930], occurred the death of Richard Missett, Sr., of 54 Church Street, veteran engineer of the Lehigh Valley railroad. Mr. Missett, although not enjoying good health, was able to be about until last Friday when he was stricken with his fatal illness. Complicationis caused death.
Mr. Missett was born and reared in this section [Pittston] and was well known and esteemed. He was the son of Richard and Mary Missett who were early settlers of the city. He secured employment with the Lehigh Valley railroad company when a young man and for almost forty years pursued employment for this concern. He was placed on the pension list two years ago.
Deceased was a man of exemplary character and amiable disposition and his death was cuased genuine sorrow in the community. He was a member of St. John's church and the Holy Name society thereof, as well as the Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers. He leaves the following sons and daughters, Mary, Claire, Richard, Jr., and George at home; Joseph, of Charles street; also two nieces, Mary and Katherine Kane who reside at the Missett home, and one sister, Mrs. Mary A. Duffy of Scranton.
The funeral will be held on Friday morning at 9 o'clock. A requiem high mass will be sung in St. John's church at 9:30. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Death of Thomas Daley
After a prolonged illness Thomas Daley, a well known citizen of Upper Pittston, died yesterday morning [July 16, 1915] at the home of his sister, Mrs. Mary Donahoe, 42 Chapel Street. Deceased followed the occupation of a miner until his health failed him some time ago. He was an industrious man and was a member of St. Mary's Church. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Mary Donahoe of Pittston; Miss Margaret Daley, and Mrs. Catherine Morrison of Sayre; also by two brothers, Charles and John, both of Cortland, N.Y. The funeral will be on Wednesday. A mass of requiem will be celebrated in St. Mary's at 9:30 and interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Robert Kelley
Robert, the seven-year-old son of Deputy Treasurer and Mrs. Frank P. Kelley, of 475 South Main street, died at the family home this morning [April 30, 1921] at 8:15 o'clock, after eight weeks illness of heart trouble. He was a student in the Franklin street public school and was considered a very bright boy. He was a great favorite among his schoolmates and will be greatly missed from the home circle. Besides his parents he is survived by two sisters and two brothers, two sets of twins, Frank and Mary, and William and Margaret. The funeral will be held from the family home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery at Hanover.

Mrs. Mary Robinson
Mrs. Mary Robinson, a very well known resident of Miners Mills, died at the City Hospital this morning [April 30, 1921] following several weeks' illness of complications. She was 67 years of age and for the last fifty years resided in Miners Mills. She is survived by one daughter, Winifred Robinson. The body was removed to her home at 6 North Hudson avenue, Miners Mills, from which place the funeral will be held at a time to be announced later.

Miss Mary Lavelle, a well known resident of Minooka, died at the home of her brother, Rev. P. E. Lavelle, this morning [April 30, 1921] at 10 o'clock, of complications following pneumonia. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. C. P. O'Connell, of this city [Wilkes-Barre PA], and two brothers, Rev. P. E. Lavelle, rector of St. Joseph's Church at Minooka, and John W. Lavelle, also of Minooka. The funeral will be held from the rectory at Minooka, Tuesday morning. A high mass of requiem will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Church and interment in Minooka Cemetery.

Miss Leah Harriet Arnold
Miss Leah Harriet Arnold, aged 67, died at the home of her brother, M. H. Arnold, 244 College Avenue, Kingston, last night [April 29, 1921] at 7:30, following a long illness of complications. Miss Arnold was born in Shamokin, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Arnold, late of Shickshinny.
She is survived by one brother, M. H. Arnold, of Kingston, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Darrason, of Dorranceton, and Mrs. Virginia Bogla, of Philadelphia.
The funeral will be held at the home of her brother, 244 College avenue, Kingston, Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock. Services will be conducted by Dr. George M. Bell and Dr. L. L. Sprague. Interment will be in the Pine Hill cemetery, Shickshinny.

Pneumonia caused the death yesterday [December 3, 1918] of Mrs. Walter McCann at her home on Main street, Sugar Notch. She was 25 years old and before marriage was Miss Ester McManaman. She is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs. Ann Corrigan, and the following brothers and sisters: Anthony J., Peterpaul, who was recently reported missing in action in France, Michael, Agnes, Rose, Theresa, Anna, and Margie. The funeral will be held from the family home Thursday afternoon and will be private. Interment in St. Charles cemetery.

Joseph Tubbs, aged 39, died at his home, 61 Hollenback avenue, yesterday morning [December 3, 1918], after ten days' illness of influenza-pneumonia. He has been for some time janitor at the Guthrie school building and has been in the employ of the school for a number of years. He was born at Huntington Mills and came to this cicy fifteen years ago. He was a member of Lodge No. 555, and is survived by a widow and three step-children, Russell, Spencer, and Mrs. Martin Hoskins; also has father, Wm. Tubbs, of Huntington Mills, and three sisters.

Anson L. and George Newbury
FATHER AND SON DIE
Two deaths in one family within a few days was the sad event in the family of Anson L. Newbury, of Courtdale. Mr. Newbury died at Nesbitt West Side Hospital, Nov. 30, of diphtheria, and his youngest son George, aged 3 1/2 years, died at the family home Thanksgiving day [November 28, 1918]. Mr. Newbury was a school director of Courtdale, and is survived by his wife and two children, Irene and Willard; also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Miles Newbury; one brother, Rufus, and two sisters, of Forty Fort: Mrs. Anna Wyant, of Wyoming, and Mrs. Daisy Thomas, of Phoenix Arizona (sic). The double funeral was held from the family ome Tuesday and interment was at Beaumont.

Mrs. Summer Johnson
Mrs. Summer Johnson, aged 38, a former resident of this city, died at her home at Portland, Maine, yesterday morning [December 3, 1918], of complications following childbirth. Mrs. Johnson before marriage was Miss Helen Montanye and was born in this city. She was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre high school and an active member of Memorial Presbyterian church. Mrs. Johnson was also a member of the Y.W.C.A. bible class. She lived at 9 West Hollenback avenue, city, until about a year ago shen she married Mr. Johnson.
Besides her husband and an infant son, she is survived by her mother and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. William Robinson, of this city; Mrs. Charles Bachman of East Orange, N.J.; Robert, in the U.S. service stationed at Camp Johnson, Fla., J. Montanye, of this city, and Grace and Julia, at home. The funeral will take place from the family home at Portland tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock.

After a short illness of influenza-pneumonia, William L. Hahn, aged 38, of ?? Myers Place, died at Nesbitt West Side hospital yesterday afternoon [December 3, 1918]. He was employed as a laborer for the D. L. & W. Coal Co.

Cyrus Heacock, a highly esteemed resident of Nescopeck, died suddenly Saturday [November 30, 1918] after an illness of a few hours. Mr. Heacock was a native of Fishing Creek Township, having been born there March 7, 1849.

Mrs. Thomas H. Day, aged 50, died at her home in Yatesville this morning [December 4, 1918] at 1:30 o'clock, following a stroke which she suffered last night. Mrs. Day born at Yatesville January 26, 1869, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Shields and was before marriage Miss Elizabeth Shields. She was a woman of sterling character and an earnest christian and has many friends who will be grieved to hear of her death. She is survived by her husband and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Melvin Schall, at home, Thomas H., Jr. a member of the United States Army stationed at Camp Jackson N.C.; also the following brothers and sisters: J. R. Elroy of White Haven; William Shields, of Bisbee Arizona; Mrs. Esther Reid, Yatesville; Robert Shields, of Wilkes-Barre, and Mrs. J. M. Roesnen, of Hawthorne, N.J.

Bernard Rogan, aged 28, died at the family home on Sheridan street, Miner's Mills, last night [December 12, 1918] following an illness of pneumonia. He is survived by his mother and three sisters, Mrs. McDonald [McDonough] and Mrs. John Kelly, of Miner's Mills, and Sarah, at home; also two brothers, John and Priv. Edward Rogan, of the Ordnance Department in France.

Dies as Car Strikes Tree (Herbert Phillips)
Hazleton Man Killed and 3 Other Passengers Sustain Injuries
Herbert Phillips, 37, of 31 South Wyoming Street, Hazleton, was killed and three other persons were injured when their automobile left the Hazleton-Freeland highway and crashed into a tree on Sunday night [December 30, 1934]. Phillips suffered a fractured skull and died almost instantly.
Charles Matulevich, Jr. of Harwood, operator of the automobile, suffered a possible fracture of the skull, a fractured right leg, and lacerations to the scalp. He was admitted to Hazleton State Hospital where his condition was reported as fair last night.
Edward Johnson of West Oakdale and Stanley Waslefsky of 720 West Green Stsreet, Hazleton, were less seriously injured.
Phillips is survived by a brother, Thomas Phillips, with whom he resided; a sister, Mrs. James D. Bachman, of Hackensack, N.J.; a step brother, Sam Jones of Hazleton, and the following step sisters, Mrs. Thomas Morgan of Hazleton, Mrs. Lucretia Stanton of Troy, and Mrs. Ann Roberts of Nanticoke.

Husband Hurt, Wife Stricken (Mrs. Cora Beers Conner)
Woman Dies of Apoplexy on Learning Spouse Was Injured
A stroke of apoplexy suffered on December 26 on learning that her husband had been injured at work caused the death at 2:45 yesterday afternoon [January 6, 1935] at her home, 95 McCarragher Street, of Mrs. Cora Beers Conner, aged 62.
Her husband, Waldrean Conner, maintenance man at the Coal Exchange Building, is at home in fair condition suffering from injuries received when he was crushed by an elevator while making repairs. Shortly aftger hearing that her husband was injured, Mrs. Conner collapsed from an attack of apolplexy and remained in critical condition from December 26 until her death yesterday afternoon.
She was born in Ashley on January 12, 1872, but had lived in Wilkes-Barre since childhood. She was widely known and highly regarded in the Rolling Mill Hill section, where she had lived for many years. He was a daughter of George and Lenore Transue Beers and was a member of Central Methodist Episcopal Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three children: Mrs. T. W. Griffith of Marietta, O.; Carleton B. Conner, of Harrisburg, and Miss Jean Conner, teacher at the Hazle Street school building; also two grandchildren, a brother, Charles W. Beers of Chicago, and a sister, Mrs. William H. Leuder of Grove Street, Wilkes-Barre.

Helen Mazika, three months, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Mazika, of 557 Shawnee Street, Breslau, died yesterday morning [January 6, 1935] at 7 following one day's illness of pneumonia. Surviving are her parents and three brothers and one sister, Julius, John, Stanley and Julia.
Services will be held this afternoon at 2 at the home. Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery at Larksville.

Mrs. Helena M. Booth, 74, wife of the late John A. Booth, an esteemed and well known resident of this city, died at her home, 266 Madison Street, on Saturday night [January 5, 1935]. She was a resident of Wilkes-Barre nearly all her life and was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
Surviving are her children, Henry C. Booth and Mrs. Ralph R. Chandler of Kingston, Arthur E. Booth and Mrs. Gordon A. Koons of Wikes-Barre, Elsa M. Booth of Philadelphia and two grandchildren, Jane Booth and Gordon Koons, Jr.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 with services at which Rev. Dr. F. L. Flinchbaugh will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Greenwood Cemetery.

Elizabeth Beech Dies in General Hospital
Mrs. Elizabeth Beech of 253 New Elizabeth Street, city, died yesterday [January 6, 1935] in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following an illness of complications.
Deceased was the wife of Edwin Beech and was a resident of the Rolling Mill Hill section practically all her life. She was a devout member of Bethel Baptist Church and was well known and highly regarded.
Besides her husband she is survived by two children: Mrs. William Davis and Mrs. Harry Beech; also a sister, Mrs. Henry Goss of Inman Park, and three brothers, Watkin Williams of Ocean Grove, N. J.; Harry Williams of this city and Thomas Williams of Ashley.
The funeral will be held from the family home on Tuesday afternoon at 2. Rev. Gomer Evans will officiate. Interment will be in Forty Fort Cemetery.

Hospital Employee Heart Attack Victim (Venanzo Tarentini)
Venanzo (Taney) Tarentini, 55, an employee of General Hospital for 35 years, died there of a heart attack on Saturday afternoon [January 5, 1935] while at work. He lived in North Wilkes-Barre since coming from Itlay 37 years ago. He was in good spirits when he left home at 4 and died an hour and one-half later.
Hundreds of patients to whom he served meals learned to admire him and attaches at the hospital respected him for his kind and friendly nature.
Surviving are his wife, four children, Angelo, Mary, John, and Lillian, and a sister, Mrs. Santa Kabardi in Italy.
The funeral will be held from the home, 119 West Chestnut Street, on Wednesday morning at 9 with a high mass of requiem in Holy Trinity Church at 9:30. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover.

Mrs. Hannah Lynott
Mrs. Hannah Lynott, 64, a prominent resident of Scranton known to many people of Wyoming Valley, died at her home, 2102 Wayne Avenue, Scranton, on Saturday morning [January 5, 1935].
She was the wife of the late Peter Lynott who was killed in an automobile accident in September, 1933, and the mother of Robert Lynott who was cashier of the Newtown Bank at the time of his death six years ago. She was a sister-in-law of Rev. John E. Lynott of Wilkes-Barre, Dr. W. A. Lynott of Plymouth, Sister Leocadia, mother of Immacualte Heart Heart Convent, Upper Pittston, and Thomas Lynott of Scranton.
Surviving are six children, Thomas and Peter, connected with the Prudential Life Insurance Company, Scranton, Margaret, Mary, and Anna, teachers in Scranton Public Schools, and Sister Mary Robert of Mercy Hospital, city. A brother, Peter Thye of Scranton also survives.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday morning at 9:30 with a solemn high mass of requiem at 10 in Holy Rosary Church.

Harold Lloyd Kingsbury, 9, son of Lloyd L. Kingsbury, died Sunday morning [January 6, 1935] at his home, 573 Carey Avenue of complications following an attach of diphtheria.
Immediate survivors are his father, L. L. Kingsbury and his grandfather, W. H. Kingsbury of Carey Avenue.
Private funeral services will be held at the home this afternoon at 2 with interment in the family plot in Forty Fort Cemetery.

George McAndrew, 20, John Street, Pittston, died Saturday morning [January 5, 1935] at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital where he had been admitted for medical treatment one day previously. The young man was a graduate of Pittston High School and was popular in the community. He was a member of St. John's R. C. Church and the Holy Name Society.
Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael McAndrew, he is survived by three brothers, Joseph, James, and Frank, all at home.
The remains have been taken to the family home from where the funeral will be held.

Nicolo Miceli, 72 Pine Street, Pittston, died Saturday morning [January 5, 1935] at the family home after a brief illness. He was 54 years of age and had resided in the community for many years. He was a member of St. Rocco's R. C. Church and affiliated societies.

Nine months' illness of complications terminated in the death of Robert Davies, 13, of 37 Pierce Street, Kingston, on Saturday morning [January 5, 1935] at 7. Robert, the son of Elliott Davies, former Kingston councilman, was a student in the 8th grade of Kingston schools.
A good student and gifted with a splended personality for a youth, Robert had a host of friends among his schoolmates and neighborhood friends.
Besides his parents he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Jones, Kingston; Iona, teacher at Chester Street School, Kingston; Beverley, at home; and a brother, Elliott, Jr., Syracuse University stsudent.

Mrs. Kathryn Heintz
The death of Mrs. Kathryn Heintz, 66, occurred late Saturday night [January 5, 1935] at her home, 9 Hutson Street, following an illness of more than two years. Mrs. Heintz was born in Germany and resided in Wilkes-Barre since she was a child.
Mrs. Heintz was a member of First German-English Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies' Aid Society of the congregation.
Besides her husband, Louis Heintz, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Frederick Kintzner and Mrs. Frederick Schmalzreidt; a brother John Ahlbrandt and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 with services in First German-English Church at 2:30. Burial will be in Mt. Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Elizabeth Hagenbaugh
Mrs. Elizabeth Hagenbaugh, 80, died yesterday morning [January 6, 1935] at Retreat Hospital. She was the wife of the late F. L. Hagenbaugh and before marriage was Elizabeth Hoyt, daughter of J. R. Hoyt of Huntington Township and a member of one of the oldest famililes there. For many years she helped her husband operate an art store on North Franklin Street.
Surviving are a niece, Mrs. W. L. Andress of Kingston, and five nephews, Charles B. Hoyt of Turcksville, R.D.; Frank of Huntington Township, Bruce of Berwick, Ralph of Nescopeck and Harry Taylor of Wilkes-Barre.

George Yatsko, 28, of 108 Elk Avenue, Korn Krest section of Hanover Township, died yesterday morning [January 6, 1935] in Nanticoke State Hospital, following an illness of pneumonia.
Mr. Yatsko's death is particularly sad inasmuch as his wife preceded him in death less than one month ago, on December 11. Mrs. Yatsko, who before marriage was Miss Helen Schwartz of Korn Krest, died following an illness of complications.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Yatsko, the following sisters, Mary, Elsie, Elizabeth, Irene; also the following step-brothers and step-sisters, Robert, Anna, Helen, Emil, and William.
The remains have been removed to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Yatsko, 118 Zerbey Avenue, Edwardsville, from where the funeral will be held.

Sarah Foux died at the home of her son, Arthur J. Foux, at Orange on Saturday afternoon [January 5, 1935] after one week's illness of complications.
She was a member of Apostolic Church of West Wyoming. Surviving are two sons, Arthur J. of Orange and Bruce of Wyoming. She also leaves nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Mrs. Catherine Mundry, 70, died yesterday morning [January 6, 1935] at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Cybulski, 300 East Ridge Street, Nanticoke. Born in Poland, Mrs. Mundry came to Nanticoke 45 years ago. Her husband, Andrew, died 23 years ago. She was a member of St. Mary's Church.
Surviving are four children, Mrs. Samuel Brill, Mrs. Edward Cybulski, and Martin Mundry, all of Nanticoke, and Mrs. Theodore Prukalski of Poland; 13 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Sarah Jane Richards, widow of John Richards, died yesterday morning [January 6, 1935] at 1:45 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Floyd Ramage, 528 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston, following an illness of pneumonia. She became ill on New Year's Day. Mrs. Richards was 71 and had resided in the community her entire life. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Shadwick Thomas, early residents of Pittston. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Sons and Daughters of Liberty and Owonda Lodge of Pocohantas, of Wyoming.
In addition to Mrs. Ramage she leaves another daughter, Mrs. David Huthmaker of West Pittston and a brother, Thomas Thomas of Kingston.
The funeral will be held from the home of her daughter on Tuesday afternoon at 2. Services in charge of Rev. John W. Hill will be held at First Congregational Church at 2:30 and interment will be in Pittston Cemetery.

Charles Aszuk Taken by Death
Heights Business Man and Old Parishioner Dies of Pneumonia
Charles Aszuk, prominent businessman and resident of this city for the last 30 years, died at the family home, Hillside and Northampton Streets, Saturday night [January 5, 1935] at 11:30 after a brief illness of pneumonia.
He was born in Lithuania, came to this country at an early age and settled in Nanticoke. He started a business there which he later transferred to Wilkes-Barre. He retired a few years ago.
The deceased was affiliated with the Z. N. P. and was one of the oldest parishoners of the Holy Trinity Lithuanian Roman Catholic Church of this city.
Surviving are his wife, four children, Dr. B. A. Aszuk of Minersville, Dr. Joseph Charles Aszuk of this city, Mrs. Robert Oerther of Auburn, and Sister M. Rosalia of the Villa Joseph Marie, Newtown; a sister, Mrs. Helen Blazes of Nanticoke and a granddaughter, Joan Aszuk of this city.
Funeral services will be held at the family home Wednesday morning at 9. A solemn mass of requiem will be celebrated at the Holy Trinity Lithuanian R. C. Church, Mead and South Streets, and burial will be in the family plot at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Nanticoke.

Ralph Jordan, 20, Dies at Parsons
Ralph Jordan, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jordan of 322 Matson Avenue, Parsons, died yesterday morning [January 6, 1935] at 6:30 following four days' illness of pneumonia. The young man, a member of Abbott Methodist Episcopal Church, was active in its affairs, was treasurer of the Sunday School and a member of the church choir.
He was graduated with honors from Coughlin High School in 1931 and was actively interested in extra-curricular affairs. A gifted musician, he was a member of the high school band. Students and faculty liked him.
Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers and a sister, Charles of Parsons, Raymond, and Shirley at home.
The funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 at the home and at 2:30 in Abbott Methodist Episcopal Church. Rev. H. L. Renville will officiate. Interment will be in Hollenback Cemetery. The body may be viewed at the home until Wednesday at 2.

Mrs. James Murray Dies at Kingston
Following a 10 days' ilness of pneumonia, Mrs. Mary Murray, 67, wife of James J. Murray, real estate and insurance agent died Saturday morning [January 5, 1935] at 5 in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital. The body was removed to the family home at 328 North College , Kingston.
Mrs. Murray was a communicant of St. Ignatius' Church, Kingston and actively participated in the affairs of the Ladies' Auxiliary of A.O.H.
Besides her husband she is survived by a son, Francis, Kingston National Bank teller, and two daughters, Mrs. John Ferris of Kingston and Helen, at home.
She will be buried from St. Ignatius' Church, Kingston, with a high requiem mass on Tuesday morning at 9:30. Rev. M. J. Maher will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover.

Gomer T. Williams
Gomer T. Williams, a former employee of Hazard Wire Rope Works, died last night at 6 after a long illness at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Rachael Benning, 33 Wayne Street. Mr. Williams was 82.
He was born in Wales and had resided in Wilkes-Barre for 50 years. In addition to his daughter, Mrs. Benning, he also is survived by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Edward J. Keating Sr.
Edward J. Keating, Sr. prominent resident of Pittston for many years, died last night at 9:30 at the home of his son, Edward J. Keating, Jr., 62 Butler Street, Pittston, following an illness of several years.
Mr. Keating until his retirement 15 years ago was engineer and pump sunner at Seneca Colliery, Lehigh Valley Coal Company, nearly all his life. He was a member of St. John's Church, Pittston, and Holy Name Society.
Survivors are the following children: Mrs. John Alexy, Brooklyn; Mrs. Ambrose O'Haire, Pittston; Mrs. Herebert Poggenburg, Los Angeles, Anna Nankaville, New York; Mrs. Myrtle Swingle, Kingston, and Edward J. Keating, Jr.

Gertrude M. Speece
Mrs. Gertrude M. Speece, 94, formerly of Kingston, died Tuesday [February 17, 1981] morning in Little Flower Manor where she was a guest.
She was born in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of the late John [Frank*] and Johanna Sullivan McKernan. She was educated in Wilkes-Barre City Schools and was employed some years ago at the Bell Telephone Co. After the death of her husband, Lee D., she went to Washington D.C. where she was employed as a housemother at the Young Women’s Christian Home. She was returned to the area in 1965 and was employed as an assistant housekeeper at the Sterling Hotel. She was a member of St. Ignatius Church.
Surviving are sons, F. Murray, Cincinnati, Ohio; Robert T., Kingston; 10 Grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Jean Gaynor, Santee, Calif.
A son, William L. died in December, 1980 in Pensecola, Fla.
Funeral Friday at 10 a.m. in the McLaughlin Funeral; Home, 416 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, with a Mas of Christian Burial at 10:30 in St. Ignatius Church. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover township. Friends may call Thursday 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

James McMinn
James McMinn, 63, of Dingwall Street, Plains Township, died unexpectedly Thursday evening, March 24, 1988, in Mercy Hospital, where he had been a medical patient since Saturday.
Born in Madera, son of the late James and Helen Stewart McMinn, he had resided in Plains township since childhood.
He was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1942 and had been a veteran of World War II, serving as a corporal with the 751st Field Artillery Battalion in the army in the European Theatre. A welder most of his life, he had been employed by the Nicholson Co., Wilkes-Barre for several years and prior to retirement in 1985, had been associated with Certain-Teed Products Corp., Mountaintop for 23 years.
Mr. McMinn was a member of the Miner Congregational United Church of Christ, Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre and had served as a trustee for 14 years and as a deacon for 20 years and had also been superintendent of the Sunday School.
He was also a member of Fidelity Lodge #655, F&AM Wilkes-Barre. He and his wife, the former Dorothy Evans, celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary in 1987. He was preceded in death by sisters Mrs. Margaret Finney and Mrs. Nancy Malonie.
Surviving in addition to his wife are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. from the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home, 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre with Rev. Elmer G. Meissner, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. William R. McDermott
William R. McDermott, 40, of 264 Academy St., Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday [February 17, 1981] in General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Mr. McDermott was the son of the former Virgina Mundy and the late Neil F. McDermott, Sr. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and King’s College and was a teacher at Annapolis, Md. and Harperbersville, N.Y.
He last was employed at Valley Crest and was a member of St. Therese’s Church Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, the former Ann O’Brien; brothers and sisters, Meil F. Jr., Atlantic City, N.J.; Mrs. Virginia Corcoran, Paul K., Mrs. Mary Jean Rother Rothenbecker, all of Wilkes-Barre.
Funeral will be held Friday morning at 9 from McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with Mass of Christian Burial from St. Therese’s Church at 9:30. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Mrs. McDonnell Dies Suddenly
North Wilkes-Barre Woman Stricken While Visiting at Pittston
Mrs. James McDonnell, 363 North Washington Street, this city, died Saturday night [May 13, 1939] at Pittston Hospital where she was taken for treatment several hours previously. She went to Pittston Township on Friday to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Keating, 23 Bryden Street, Browntown section of that township, and stricken suddenly while there.
Remains have been taken to the home of her parents from where the funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9. Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 at St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, and burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Mrs. McDonnell was the former Regina Keating and was born in the Browntown section of Pittston Township. She had lived there until the time of her marriage and had numerous friends there who were grieved to learn of her death. Her father is well known in this city having been attached to the county assessor's office for many years. She was a member of St. John's Church, North Wilkes-Barre, and the Altar and Rosary Society.
She is survived by her husband, her parents, and two brothers, Joseph, and James, both at home.

Funeral of Mrs. James McDonnell was held yesterday morning at 9 from the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Michael Keating, 23 Bryden Street, Browntown, Pittston Township, and was largely attended. Mass was celebrated at St. John's Church at 9:30 by Rev. Joseph Padden, cousin of deceased, assisted by Rev. Joseph L. Barry as deacon, and Rev. John J. Maher as sub-deacon. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mary D. Sheerin, 206 Lathrop St., Kingston, died Sunday morning at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kingston.
Born in Kingston, daughter of the late James P. and Nora Walsh Donahue, she resided in Kingston her entire life.
She was a graduate of Kingston High School and graduated as a Registered Nurse from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Wilkes-Barre. She was employed as a school nurse for Central Catholic High until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kingston, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Ladies Railroad Trainman Auxiliary and the Mercy Hospital Alumni Association.
Her husband, Thomas, preceded her in death in 1952.
Surviving are sons, James of St. [sic] Antonio, Texas, and Thomas, at home. Also, seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin [Tuesday] at 10 a.m. from the John J. Maher Funeral Home, 360 N. Maple Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call Monday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A wake service will be held at 8 p.m.

Ricketts Citizen Was Caught in Saw Mill Machinery (Howard Oberlin)
Howard Oberlin, aged 26, of Ricketts, was fatally injured in a saw mill at Ricketts on Saturday morning [December 3, 1910]. He was caught in the machinery. He was hurried to the railroad station and placed on board the morning train bound for this city, but at 11:35 he died in the baggage car chortly before Wilkes-Barre was reached.
He was engaged in repairing a p art of the machinery when his clothing caught in a belt, and he was whirled about several times before being extricated by fellow workmen.
His body was taken to Kniffen's morgue and later to Ricketts. He is survived by a wife and two children.

Died of Injuries (John Porrello)
John Porrello, aged 4 (sic), died at the Mercy Hospital yesterday afternoon [December 4, 1910] from injuries received on Thursday by being struck by a car while working for the gas company at Westmoor. He had gone behind a box for some tools and was quite close to the track when the car, coming up unnoticed struck him. Deceased resided in the rear of the McManus block on Main Street, Kingston. He is survived by five children.

Major John C. Little Dead
Deceased Saw Much Active Service In The Civil War
Major John C. Little, one of the oldest and most respected residents of Dorranceton, died at his home, __ Mercer avenue, Dorranceton, on Saturday morning [December 3, 1910] at 7 o'clock as the result of a third stroke of paralysis. Mr. Little was stricken on Friday morning at about 7 o'clock and twenty-four house later was dead, Major Little immiedately having lapsed into unconsciousness from which he passed into the lasts sleep.
The deceeased was born in Kingston on April 30, 1837, and was therefore 73 years, 7 months and 2 days old. He was a son of Dr. J. W. Little of Kingston, one of the oldest citizens of that town. At the age of twenty eight years deceased enlisted in the 143rd Regt., Pa. Vol. Inf. under Col. E. B. Dana on Sept 6, 1862. The regiment was assigned to the 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, 1st and 5th corps, Army of the Potomac, and Mr. Little chared his fortunes in the battle of Chancellersville, Gettysburg, Rappahannock, Mine Run, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Laurel Hill, Cold Harber, Hothkiss Run, and other fights. He was mustered out at Harte Island, N.Y., and was honorably discharged June 13, 1866 (1865?), serving three full years. Nothwithstanding his advanced years, he was smart and active and was a man of pleasant disposition and had a cordial greeting for all.
Besides his widow he is survived by ___ son, John W. The funeral will take place from his late ho me tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock and the services will be conducted with military honors by Post __ G.A.R. of the city, of which the deceased had been a member. Interment will be in the Forty Fort Cemetery.

Died at Scranton (Mrs. Clara Ide Courtright)
The remains of Clara Ide Courtright, wife of the last H. B. Courtright, who for many years conducted a livery business in t his city, will be brought here from Scranton today for interment in Hollenback Cemetery. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Brooks, Scranton. Besides Mrs. Brooks she is survived by two other children, Mrs. D. M. Reynolds and J. W. Courtright, both of Scranton, also by a brother, D. C. Welles of this city. Mrs. Courtright was __ years of age and was the daughter of the late W. S. Welles of this city. Mrs. Courtright died on Saturday [December 3, 1910] at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. M. Reynolds.

Mrs. Jane E. Brader died at her home 478 South River street on Saturday morning [December 3, 1910] at 4:30, the cuase of death being a complication of diseases from which she suffered for ten months. Deceased was 72 years of age and was beloved by those who knew her. She was a resident of Wilkes-Barre for about thirty years and is survived by the following children: _. B. Peter Kosloski passed away at his home 158 North Bennett street, Dorranceton, at about 5 o'clock yesterday morning [December 4, 1910] after a long illness of diabetes. Deceased bore his illness with fortitude. He enjoyed the respect and good will of all who knew him. He was 24 years old and is survived by his wife and one daughter, Nellie, his mother, Mrs. Kate Kosloski, two brothers, William and Frank, also one sister, Mrs. Macey. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning from the family residence with services in St. Mary's Church, Kingston, at 9:30 o'clock.

Death of Mrs. William Bath
At 2 o'clock on Saturday morning [December 3, 1910] death claimed Mrs. William Bath at the hospital who submitted to an operation for an abscess on the liver a short time since. Deceased was one of Nanticoke's well known and esteemed residents and her death has a (sic) cast gloom over a large circle of friends. She was born in Wales, April 29, 1841, and had been a resident of this place for a number of years. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. William Coombs, Mrs. James Uren, Mrs. John Newman, Simon and Thomas Bath. John W. Bath, whose death occurred some 13 months ago the result of an accident in which his back was broken, was a son. Two sisters also survive, Mrs. George Skuse of Alden and Mrs. John Harding of Pittston. The funeral will take place on Tuesday afternoon with services at the Primitive Methodist Church. Rev. George W. Lees will officiate and interment will be in Nanticoke Cemetery. Friends are requested to omit flowers.

Death of Miss Sarah Oplinger
At 6:30 o'clock on Saturday afternoon [December 3, 1910] at her home on West Green street, occurred the death of Miss Sarah J., eldest daughter of James M. and Mary Stroh Oplinger. Deceased who had been in ill health for a long time was well known and esteemed. She was born in Wilkes-Barre in 1860 but for many years had resided in this place. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Besides her mother she is survived by the following: One brother, J. W. Oplinger, of Waycross, Georgia; two sisters, Mrs. I. H. Collins and Miss Mary E. Oplinger, the latter at home and Joseph W. Oliver of New York. The funeral will take place on Wednesday afternoon, leaving the home on West Green street at 1:30 o'clock for the Presbyterian Church where services will be held at 2 o'clock. Rev. W. H. Decker will officiate and interment will be in Hanover Green Cemetery.

Death At Glen Lyon (Richard Overton)
Richard Overton, a well known and highly respected resident of Glen Lyon, breathed his last at four o'clock yesterday morning [December 4, 1910] after an illness of a few weeks. Death was due to cancer of the stomach. He was a native of Wales and was born 66 years ago. For the past twenty-five years he had been in this country, eleven of which he had passed in Glen Lyon where he was generally esteemed. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Thomas, William, David, and Mrs. John Price, all in the West. The funeral will take place on Thursday afternoon with Rev. A. A. L. Rowe, pastor of Moriah Congregational Church of this place officiating. Interment will be in Nanticoke Cemetery.

Death of Mrs. William R. Stull
The death of Mrs. William R. Stull, formerly Miss Janet Law, which occurred Saturday morning [December 3, 1910] at her home in Oakland, Md., was the sad news that reached Pittston on Saturday. Her illness which was of several months' duration, was unknown to her many Pittston firends and the news of her death came as a great shock. Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Law of West Pittston. Mrs. Stull possesses many graces and accomplishments that endeared her to a legion of friends. Her grandfather was the late William Law, for many years general superintendent of the Pennsylvania Coal Co., and her grandmother, Mrs. Jane McDougall, was one of Pittston's pioneer business women for many years.
The deceased was graduated from the Wilkes-Barre Female Seminary in June, 1894, and in June, 1895, finished the course in the Miss Annie Brown School for Girls in New York City. On December 3, 1901, she was united in marrriage to Willliam R. Stull of Oakland, Md., an additional touch of sadness being attached to her untimely death by the fact that she passed away on the ninth anniversary of her marriage. Since their wedding Mr. and Mrs. Stull have made their home in Maryland.
Besides her husband and her parents, she is survived by one sister, Miss Jean Grey Law.
The body of Mrs. Stull will leave Oakland, Maryland, this evening at 8 o'clock and will arrive at the Wilkes-Barre Station Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock. The funeral cortege will proceed from the station to Hollenback's Cemetery where interment will be made.

Former Business Man Dead (Lazarus Kohns)
Lazarus Kohns, who was engaged in the mercantile business in this city before the Civil War, died on Saturday [December 3, 1910] at his home, 23 West Fifty-sixth street, New York, after a long illness. He was 82 years old and one of the founders of the Hardware Club, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Reform Club, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the American Museum of Natural History, all of New York City. Mr. Kohns came to this city from Bavaria in 1847 and his first mercantile ventures were in this city and Tunknannock. In 1863, he married the daughter of Lazarus Straus, who founded L. Strause & Sons of New York. For years he was an active member of this concern, which is closely allied with R. H. Macy & Co. and Abram & Straus of Brooklyn. He retired from active business in 1879, but remained in close touch with affairs until stricken by his fatal illness last May. He was active in religious and charitable work and was for years vice president of the Temple Beth-El. He is survived by his widow, a son, Lee Kohns, and a daughter, Mrs. Edmund E. Wise.

Death of William J. Holton
William J. Holton, died yesterday morning [December 4, 1910], at the residence of his father, Michael Holden, 254 East Market street following a short illness of pleuriay. Deceased was born in Wilkes-Barre, September 16, 1868. He was a member of the Clerk's Association and a past president. Lately he had been employed as manager of the shoe department of Bowen's Department store on South Main street. Deceased is survived by his father and three children, Lillian, Donald, and Isabelle and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Robert P. Shales, Mrs. Frank Donnelly, John of New York, Peter of Scranton, and Thomas of Philadelphia, Miss Catherine L. Holton, a teacher int he East End Grammar school. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning with a requiem high mass at St. Mary's Church and interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover.

Mrs. Amanda McElwee
Yesterday morning [December 4, 1910] shortly before 8 o'clock, Mrs. Amanda McElwee, widow of the late John McElwee, died at her home on the Mountain Road, Welsh Hill, of cancer. Deceased was 61 years of age and is survived by four children, Mrs. John Webb, Charles, Katie, and John McElwee, also one brother, George Gregory, and one sister, Mrs. William Miller, all of this place. Deceased was a resident of Welsh Hill all her life and was well and favorably known.

Ruth Jaques
Saturday afternoon [December 3, 1910] at the City Hospital occurred the death of Ruth, aged 6 years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Jaques, of East Plymouth, in the borough of Larksville. The child was taken to the hospital November 22, and underwent an operation for a growth on the neck the next day, but she did not rally. She was a pleasant little one and her death is a severe blow to her parents. The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon, with services at the house at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in the Shawnee Cemetery.

George H. Watkins
George H., aged 16 months, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Watkins, of 93 High Street, departed this life Saturday afternoon [December 3, 1910] of diphtheria, after a short illness. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon and was private. Brief services were conducted at thte house by Rev. D. R. Davies of the Welsh Baptist Church. Friends of the family sent many beautiful floral offerings. Interment was in the Shawnee Cemetery.

Lester Bolen
Another child to be claimed by death on Saturday [December 3, 1910] was Lester, aged 3 weeks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bolen, of First street, who died of shooping cough after a few days' illness. The funeral will be held this afternoon with services at the house at 1 o'clock by Rev. W. T. Blair, pastor of the M. E. Church. Interment will be in the Shawnee Cemetery.

Boxing Manager Dies After Fall (Merle Bartleson)
Merle Bartleson succumbs to Injuries
Merle Bartleson, 43, well known in boxing circles as a trainer and manager of amateur and pro fighters, died Saturday afternoon [June 29, 1935] at his home, 311 Hanover Street, Warrior Run, of injuries received in a fall down a flight of stairs last week.
Mr. Bartleson was a resident of Wilkes-Barre for 35 years and was employed by the Glen Alden Coal Company at Auchinclose Colliery. He was a veteran of Foreign Wars, having served for 18 months at Camp Humphries, Va. He was a member of the American Legion Post 176, Warrior Run.
Survivors are his wife and these children: Betty, Merle, and William; also a stepdaughter, Mary Kane, R.N., employed at Nanticoke State Hospital. His mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Bartleson; three brothers, Harry, George, and William, all of Warrior Run, also survive.
The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 (EST). Rev. Richard Owens will officiate and interment will be n Hanover Green Cemetery.

James A. Bryden Is Death Victim
James A Bryden of 115 Thompkin Street, Pittston, was found dead by his daughter, Mrs William Sweeney, yesterday afternoon [October 26, 1960] at 3. He had been under a physician's care for a heart condition.
Mr Bryden was born in Pittston on June 4, 1900 and has resided in that city most of his life. He was a son of the late Robert and Alexandria Robertson Bryden, prominent West Pittston residents.
He was a member of the First Presbyerian Church, Pittston.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. William Sweeney of Pittston, Mrs. Donald Sweeney of Bridgeport, Conn: Mrs. James Cope of Wilkes Barre, Mrs. Samuel Beidleman of Alderson, one stepson, Charles Brown of Binghamton, New York, one sister Mrs. Alexander Craig, Wyoming, two brothers Harry and Walter Bryden
both of West Pittston, 33 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held from the funeral home 23 Broad Street, Saturday afternoon at 2. Rev. Harold W Story will officiate. Internment in Pittston Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday afternoon and Friday night from 7 to 10.

John J. McMonigal Dies in Plymouth
John J. McMonigal, veteran of World War I and a member of Shawnee Post, American Legion, died Saturday afternoon [December 1, 1945] at his home, 320 Palmer Street, Plymouth. A son of the late Cornelius and Margaret McMonigal, he was a member of St. Vincent's Church, Plymouth.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Sweeney; a son, John Jr., and these brothers and sisters, Manus McHugh, Scranton; Mrs. James Lane, Larksville; Mrs. James Sheridan, Larksville, Daniel McHugh, Plymouth; Mrs. William Reese, Plymouth; Mrs. Agnes McLaughlin, Plymouth, and Patrick McHugh, Nanticoke.
The funeral will be held from the home Wednesday morning at 9, with a high requiem mass in St. Vincent's Church at 9:30. Interment will be in the church cemetery, Larksville.

Frank J. Milz Dies at Home in East End
Frank J. Milz of 48 Hillard Street, city, a former employee of the Okonite plant before retiring five years ago, died yesterday morning [December 2, 1945] at Mercy Hospital after an illness of one month.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Bernard and Barbara Leikeim Milz, he was a member of Holy Saviour Church and its Holy Name Society.
Surviving are a sister Margaret, at home; two brothers, Jacob, Wilkes-Barre, and Peter, at home; three neices and one nephew, Mary, Frances, Margaret, and Jacob Milz, Jr., all of Wilkes-Barre.
The body has been removed to the family home, from where the funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9 with a requiem mass in Holy Saviour Church at 9:30. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Arrangements by M. J. McLaughlin.

Justine Krutulis, 15, Dies in Nanticoke
Justine Krutulis, 15, Nanticoke High School freshman, died Saturday afternoon [December 1, 1945] at her home, 143 South Market Street, Nanticoke.
Besides her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Krutulis, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Eva Fela, and her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Amelia Krutulis.
The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 from the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Krutulis, 103 West Ridge Street, Nanticoke, with a requiem mass in St. Stanislaus Church. Interment will be in parish cemetery.

Sgt. Michael Kundrat, Missing, Listed Dead
Missing in action since January 11 [1945], Tech. Sgt. Michael A. Kundrat, son of Mrs. Mary Kundrat, 826 Marcy Avenue, Duryea, is now officially listed as dead, the War Department has announced.
Sgt. Kundrat, a chief radio technician and waist gunner, was a member of a B-29 Bomber which failed to return from a mission in the China-Burma-India theater of operations. He was a graduate of Duryea High School, 1926, and entered the army in June, 1942. He was trained at Sioux City, S.D.; Harlingen, Texas, where he earned his wings in January, 1943; Salt Lake City, Utah, and Salina, Kan. He had been overseas since April 1944.

Mrs. Phillip Bennett, West Pittston, Dies
Mrs. Phillip G. Bennett, 62, died Saturday morning [December 1, 1945] at the family home, 204 Washington Street, West Pittston. A native and life-long resident of West Pittston, Mrs. Bennett was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Altar and Rosary and Catholic Daughters of America.
Surviving are her husband and these children: John B., advertising manager of the Pittston Gazette; Phillip, Jr., East Orange, N.J., and Mary C. Bennett, at home; one grandson; a sister, Mrs. Joseph McHale, Pittston.
The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 from the home, with a requiem mass in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will be in West Pittston Cemetery.

Mrs. Stella Johnson
Mrs. Stella Johnson, 73, died Saturday night [December 1, 1945] at her home in Beaumont after a brief illness.
A resident of that place 28 years, Mrs. Johnson was a member of Factoryville Methodist Church and Beaumont Ladies' Aid.
Surviving are two step-daughters, Mrs. Howard Krum, Mt. Zion, and Bina, College Hill, Md.; two grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. L. G. Freeman, Scranton.
Funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 from the home with services in charge of Rev. David Morgan of Alderson Methodist Church. Interment will be in Wardan Cemetery, Dallas.
