John A. Gansehorn of Hazleton drowned himself and Lynford Yost of Sellersville shot himself. Their marital relations were unhappy.


GROVE, MARVIN JEFFERSON

Marvin Jefferson Grove aged 66, died at noon yesterday at his home, 405 West Kansas Avenue, after several months illness caused by heart trouble. Funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning at the Byrd Brothers & McMickell Funeral Home. Rev. L. T. Faulders, pastor of the Christian Church, will officiate. The body will be taken tomorrow to Kinzha, Pa., for burial.

Mr. Grove was born at Diamond, Pa., May 28, 1856, where he grew to manhood. After his marriage he moved to West Virginia where he lived until about four years ago, when he came to El Dorado. He was a driller in the oil fields.

Mr. Grove is survived by his widow and two daughters, one son, three sisters and two brothers. The daughters are Mrs. J. S. Loofbouron, El Centro, Calif., and Mrs. Virginia Joy, Erie, Pa. The son is Marvin J. Grove, Jr. of Charleston, W. Va. (El Dorado Times, Friday, January 19, 1923, transcribed by Peggy Thompson)


Samuel Kanovsky

Killed In Blast

Kane, Pa, Today (AP) Explosion of a small auxillary steam drum in the basement of his cleaning shop resulted in the death of Samuel Kanovsky, 33, in Kane Community Hospital. Fire Chief Patsy Marasco said the blast of unknown origin, hurled Kanovsky from the basement 74 feet up a stairway back into his shop. Rites For J. E. Smith, Wednesday

Bradford – Funeral services for John Edward Smith, forty-nine, of South Bradford, who died Monday morning at eight o’clock of a heart attack while at work on the Hunter lease of the Healey Petroleum Company at Custer City, will be held at one-thirty o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the home and at two o’clock at the Koch Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in the family lot in the Limestose Cemetery.

Mr. Smith, a foreman for the Healey Company, had gone to work at seven o’clock. He had complained recently of pains in his chest. Coroner W. D. Allen, who was notified, deemed no investigation required. Dr. O. S. Hannum, who was called, certified the cause of death as a heart ailment.

Born at McGee’s Mill, Pa., August 28, 1888, Mr. Smith had been employed by the Healey Company since 1929. Previous to moving to South Bradford he had resided with his family in Limestone, N.Y. He was a member of Lodge No. S22 F. and A.M., Allegany, and of the Loyal Order of Moose of this city.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ada Smith, three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Price, Miss Helen Smith and Miss Charlotte Smith of South Bradford; five sons, Miller, Lloyd, Virgil, Marcell and Donald of South Bradford; two brothers, William Smith of Greenville and Aaron Smith of Instanter; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Erdeaux and Mrs. Mae Butts, Erie and Mrs. Lauro Morocco of this city, a grandson Theodore Price, South Bradford.
