Mercer County was created from Allegheny County on March 12, 1800.
Mercer County is located in northwestern Pennsylvania, along the Ohio border. The county seat is Mercer.
Mercer's adjacent counties are:
Crawford, Venango, Butler, Lawrence, Mahoning (Ohio), and Trumbull (Ohio)
