The Morning News, Danville, PA, Monday, September 30, 1918
James Dailey, the well known jeweler, of this city, died at the home of his nephew, Dr.
Edward M. Dailey, DuShore, at 12:55 o’clock yesterday morning, death being due to a complication of diseases.
Mr. Dailey whose trouble seems to have been of long standing left Danville eight weeks ago for DuShore to undergo
treatment with his nephew Dr. Dailey. He was under treatment at the Hospital at Sayre for two weeks but it appears
that his case from the first was recognized as hopeless. During the last several weeks his condition was very low.
James Dailey was a native of Danville and spent his entire life here. As a jeweler he was known over this entire
section. For many years he conducted a store on Bloom street. He was esteemed alike for his fine social qualities
and his integrity and fair dealing.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic church. He belonged to the Holy Name Society of the church; also the Ancient
Order of Hibernians. He was aged 66 years. He is survived by one brother, Martin Dailey of Atlanta, Ga., and one
sister, Mrs. Andrew Bannon of Philadelphia.
The body was brought to Danville yesterday afternoon. The arrangements for the funeral have not as yet been perfected.
