HARRISON B. FEHR, president and general manager of the Lehigh Valley Transit Company, was born near Nazareth, Northampton County, Pa., March 20, 1863, the son of Michael and Anna C. (Edmonds) Fehr. He was educated in the Moravian schools at Nazareth, and taught in the public schools from 1880 to 1883. He then entered the employ of the Lehigh Valley Railroad Company, rising rapidly in the engineering department. From May, 1890, to October, 1891, he was engaged in the bridge department of the same road. From 1891 to September, 1899, he was city engineer and commissioner of highways of the city of Easton. From 1899 to January, 1901, he was engineer for the Easton Transit Company, and from the latter date to September, 1902, was engineer of the Trenton & New Brunswick Railroad Company. From September, 1902, to May, 1904, he was a consulting and contracting engineer. In May, 1904, he became general manager, and in 1906 also president of the Easton Transit Company. In October, 1913, he removed to Allentown, having become president and general manager of the Lehigh Valley Transit Company and affiliated lines. Mr. Fehr’s splendid record as a railroad man speaks for itself. He also has the gift of making friends, and is a member of the following organizations: Various Masonic bodies; Elks; Sons of Veterans; Lehigh and Northampton Country Clubs; Livingston Club; Pomfret Club, Easton; Manufacturers’ Club, Philadelphia; American Society of Civil Engineers; American Electric Railway Association; Pennsylvania Street Railway Association; National Geographic Society. Mr. Fehr married Miss Achshaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Walter, of Northampton County, Pa. |
