Four Months After Injury Woman Dies Of Blood Poisoning
A trivial cut in her thumb sustained while she was cutting a slice of Ham eight weeks ago resulted on Friday morning in the death of Catherine, wife of George Adams of Prosser Hollow in Cambria County . The wound at the time it was inflicted attracted only passing notice and Mrs Adams experienced neither inconvenience nor pain from it for a month, when it began to trouble her, and finally she was compelled to seek the service of a physician. Mrs Adams was able to be around until Wednesday evening when she became suddenly very ill and was put to bed. Dr. E. J. Burkhart was summoned early Thursday morning. In the afternoon a consultation of three or four physicians was held when it was learned that the puss following the wound had affected the heart and nervous system. Mrs Adams rapidly declined passing away at 4:55 Friday morning. The deceased was the mother of Walter Adams of Bolivar.

GEORGE ADAMS 82, SUDDENLY EXPIRES
Well-Known Prosser Holler Resident and Civil War Veteran Dies This Morning George Adams aged 82 years died suddenly at 3:50 o'clock this morning at his home in Prosser Hollow, West Taylor Township. His health had been impaired for several months but he was not compelled to stay in bed. He retired early last night but in the early morning suddenly collapsed and died before a physician could be summoned. The deceased was a son of Andrew and Lucinda (Weaver) Adams and was born in Taylor Twp. April 6, 1842 During the Civil War he offered his services to the Governor in place of his brother, Peter Adams who was married and was assigned to Co. F 149th Regiment P. V. I. which was a part of the Old Bucktail Regiment under command of Col. Roy Stone. George Adams' Captain was James Post. Who was captured during the Battle of the Wildness in Va. where Private Adams was also taken prisoner and served almost a year in Andersonville Prison. Mr. Adams was honorably discharged from the Army in June 1865. Upon his return to Johnstown he resumed his work for the Cambria Iron Company and remained with the company until about six years ago, when he became a pensioner. The Deceased's wife died here about 1905. She was Catherine Bowser and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs George L. Bowser. The following sons and daughters survive their father: George, James, Joseph, Jacob of West Taylor Twp. Sylvester and Harvey of the 20th ward and Michael of the 21st ward, Anna wife of Alvin Rininger of Morrellville and Louise wife of Thomas McKeel of Wehrum. In addition to these he is survived by 45 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The funeral will take place on Wednesday afternoon with the burial in the Benshoff Hill Cemetery. The Rev. F. W. Ellenberger of the Evangelical Church will have charge of the service.

ADAMS - Mrs Melda Rachel (Bowser) 60, 534 Wood St. died July 16, 1979 at Mercy Hospital. Born Oct. 13, 1918 in Cambria Co. daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Nancy Ellen (Mitchell) Bowser. Preceded in death by parents and husband, Harry Morgan Adams. Survived by two sons: Harry Morgan Adams Jr married to former Nancy Elaine Thomas and Charles Franklin Adams married to former Linda Jane Dietz also granddaughter Melissa Elaine. Sister of Elma Adams, Angela Leroy, Nora Moreland and Harry Bowser. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Stephen J. Conway Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday the Rev. Keith E. Mong. Interment Grandview Cemetery. In leu of flowers family requests contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society.

John E. Ankeny, 91, of Bolivar formerly of Ligonier, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. He was born Oct. 8, 1908 in Ligonier Twp. son of John C. and Mary Dennison Ankeny. Before his retirement, he was a farmer in the Ligonier Valley for years. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Giberta Sheffler Ankeny, in 1956, and his second wife, Nettie A. Henderson Ankeny, in 1988; four brothers, Robert, Owen, Frank, and William Ankeny, and a sister Margaret Henderson. He is survived by two stepsons, Ernest G. Henderson of New Florence RD 1 and Clifford Henderson (and his wife, Sherry) of Ligonier RD 1; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Mary Mulligan of New Florence RD 1; a brother, James Ankeny of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Friends were received at J. Paul McCracken Funeral Home, Bolivar, where a funeral service was held Wednesday, with Pastor Jim Tomb officiating. Burial was in Fort Palmer Cemetery, Bolivar.

AUKERMAN, DAVID L. 91 of Latrobe RD1 (near Lycippus) died at his home Monday, Sept. 10, 1962 at 5:35 p.m. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. at the James P. Gaut Funeral Home, Pleasant Unity, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Alvin K. Smith officiating. Interment in Lycippus Cemetery. James P.
