Eales, Thomas F.

1924

Thomas Francis Eales aged 24 years and 28 days died February 19 at his home in Cokeville. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Eales and the following brothers and sisters: John, Charles, Louise and Dorothy Eales all at home; Mrs. H. A. Newhouse of Cokeville and Mrs. Philip Short of Bolivar. He was a veteran of the World War and served with Co. L, 110th Infantry of Blairsville. Funeral services were held in the M. E. Church of Cokeville of which the deceased was a member at two o'clock February 22, conducted by Rev. Davis and interment was made in the Blairsville cemetery.

Ference, John

March 6, 2001

John Ference 70 of New Florence died March 6, 2001 at HCR Manor Care, North Hills. He was born Aug. 3, 1930 in Boltz, son of Mike and Catherine Bartok Ference. He was a member of Armagh-Seward Presbyterian Church, and had served on the borough councils of Seward and New Florence. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and was retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. Johnstown Plant, Rod and Wire Division. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia and Mary Ference and two brothers, Mike Jr. and Steve Ference. He is survived by his wife, June Pizzino Ference; three daughters, Gloria (Mrs. James) Valeriano of Wexford, Kathy Ference of New Florence,and Patti (Mrs. Pat) May of Plymouth, N.H., and three grandchildren, Jamie, Mario, and Leah. Funeral service was held Saturday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, with the Rev. James M. Tomb officiating. Burial was in Germany Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

FERRI - Betty Jane, 80, Robinson, died March 13, 2006, at home. Born Jan. 8, 1926, in Bolivar, the daughter of the late Raymond and Ailene (Muir) Garland. Also preceded in death by first husband, Joseph Silk; and second husband, Joseph Ferri; brothers, Lindy "Pete," Glenn, Edward and Benjamin Garland; and sister, Ornetta Stiffey. Survived by children, James Silk, New Florence; Karen "Susie" Nixon, Robinson; and Thomas Silk, New Florence; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Sister of Raymond Garland, Robinson; Judy Lindsey, Shady Grove; Rita Ressler, Seward; Allen Garland and Sally McClain, both of Robinson. Private services at the convenience of the family. Interment, Fort Palmer Cemetery. Family assisted by Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence.

FLICKINGER - Robert G. 73 Bolivar RD 1, Pa. died Saturday March 8, 1997 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Aug. 14, 1923 in Fairfield Twp. son of George H. and Nora (Betz) Flickinger. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Jean Muir, and brother, Joseph Flickinger. Survived by wife of 54 years, Nellie E. (Magnani) Flickinger; daughters; Mrs. John (Candace) Harris, Alexandria, Va. and Mrs. Jeffrey (Patricia) Rager, New Florence; sons Dennis L. (and his wife, Linda) Flickinger, Ligonier; George L. Flickinger, Bolivar RD 1; Joseph D. (and his wife, Lisa) Flickinger, New Florence; five grandchildren; sisters Marie Henderson and Ruth Mundorff, both of Bolivar RD 1; Gladys Spaugy, Anchorage, Alaska; and brother, Merel Flickinger, St. Louis, MO. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he had been employed as a coal miner by the R&P Coal Co. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion 267, Bolivar; VFW 734 Ligonier; and UMWA District 2, Robinson, PA. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the J. Paul McCracken Funeral Home, Bolivar, where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday March 11, 1997 the Rev. David Bowman. Interment Fort Palmer Cemetery, Bolivar. Mrs. Gertrude Forsha of Chesnut Street, Blairsville died at her late home on Saturday July 6, 1963. She was born in Bolivar on Februray 27 1878 a daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Agnes Davis James. Her husband Alva preceded her in death in 1938. Surviving are: three daughters Mrs Ethel Rickard of Atlanta Ga. Mrs Alice Altemus and Mrs Paul (Ruth) Auen both of Blairsville; one sister, Mrs Myrtle Garland of Salina 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Shoemaker Funeral Home in Blairsville from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth R Miller officiating . Interment in Blairsville Cemetery

FORSHA, Clair E., of 31 East Chestnut Street, Blairsville, died in the Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia, yesterday at 3:30 a.m. He was born in Blairsville Sept. 11, 1915, a son of the late Alva FORSHA and Gertrude JAMES. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Gertrude FORSHA, of Blairsville; three sisters--Mrs. Ethel RICHARD, of Atlanta, Ga.; Mrs. Alice ALTEMUS, of Blairsville; Mrs. Ruth AUEN, of Blairsville. A brother, Harry L. FORSHA, of Johnstown, also survives. He is a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church of Blairsville and a member of the Eagles of Bellwood, Pa. Friends will be received at the home of his mother, Mrs Gertrude Forsha 31 East Chestnut Street, Blairsville where funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. James Frank paster of the Lutheran Church will officiate and interment will follow in the Blairsville Cemetery.

**Note: Lost his life in the World War, he was a member of Company L. of Blairsville of the One Hundred and Tenth Regiment, He was killed in the attack on Bois de Grimpette Hill on July 30, 1918. He was one of five Blairsville boys who lost their lives within half an hour at the Grimpette woods fight....

FORSYTHE - Friends of Edna Forsythe, of Mars, who died Wednesday Nov. 11, 1992 will be received at the McDonald Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Grove Ave., Mars, from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held from the Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Cope, pastor of Mars Alliance Church officiating. Burial will be in Mars Cemetery, Adams Twp.

Elizabeth Hyslop Forsythe wife of William Forsythe died at her home in this place, Monday, May 20th aged 78 years, 4 months and 19 days after an Illness of only a few days. Besides her husband she is survived by ten children as follows: Mrs. Mary Luther, Turtle Creek; Robert, Bradenville; James, McKeesport; William, Washington; John, Lockport; Mrs. Alex Wynn, Elizabeth, George, Thomas and Albert, Bolivar. Her funeral took place yesterday, services being held in the Christian church, West Bolivar.

George L. "Pete" Forsythe Jr., 55 of Gary, Ind., formerly of West Bolivar, died Tuesday Jan. 4, 1983 in Gary. Mr. Forsythe was born Jan. 9, 1927 son of Mae Adams Forsythe Shank, Robinson and the late George L. Forsythe Sr. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Ella Deyarmin Forsythe, and children David and Diane, all of Gary; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Edwin (Hazel) Foust and Mrs. Harold (Doris) Lichtenfels, both of Robinson and Blanche Marasco, Irwin; Also surviving is a stepbrother, Glenn Shank, Bolivar. Services were held Jan. 6, Gary, with interment in Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart, Ind.

Ida G. "Gertie" Foust, 88 of Robinson died Wednesday July 20, 1983 in Fairfield Twp. Westmoreland County. Mrs. Foust was born April 4, 1895 in Robinson, daughter of William and Alice Frain. Survivors include two children, Freda Burkett and Edwin V., both of Robinson; 16 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; 21 great great grandchildren; two half sisters; three half brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin; three daughters, Alberta Henderson, Catherine Garland and Dorothy Stercho; a grandson Ashley Henderson. Services were held Saturday at the Robinson Church of the Brethren, Revs Dale Rummel and John Clawson officiating. Interment followed in Germany Lutheran Cemetery, Edward J. Speidel Funeral Home, Bolivar in charge.

Elmer S. Frain 86 of Robinson died Wednesday Aug. 7, 1996 at Good Samaritan Medical Center, Johnstown. Mr. Frain was born Oct. 16, 1909 in West Wheatfield Twp., Indiana County son of the late William A. and Iva May Kelly Frain. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel and the Conemaugh and Black Lick Railroad and was a watchmaker. He also was a member of the Robinson Evangelical United Methodist Church. Survivors include children Elmer S. Jr., Robinson, Ralph and his wife Wanda, Bossier City, LA., Martha I. Doepfer, Johnstown and Mrs. Wilbert (Nellie) Short, Blairsville RD 3; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; Also surviving is his sister Mary Etta Baird, Blairsville RD 3. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian L. Rager Frain; brothers Roy Ray, Norman Leroy, John, Edward, George, Ralph and Vincent; his sister Mary Luker. Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Robinson EUM Church, Rev. Dwayne Burfield officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, West Wheatfield Twp.

George F. Frain, 86, of Bolivar RD 1, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1993 at Mercy Medical Care Center, Johnstown. Mr. Frain was born Jan. 4, 1907 in West Wheatfield Twp., son of the late William A. and Ida Mae Kelly Frain. He was a retired Conrail worker. Surviving are six children, Mrs. James (Ida J) Crusan of Bolivar RD 1, Donald of New Florence RD 2, Gladys Baker of New Stanton, Laura Boring of New Florence RD 2, Derwood of Indiana and Mrs. Robert (Zaonia) Boring of San Antonio, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; his brother, Elmer Frain of Robinson; two sisters, Marie Luker of Robinson and Mary Etta Baird.

Survivors include her husband, George F.; six children, Donald, Laura Boring and Derwood, all of New Florence RD 2, Gladys Baker, New Stanton, Zaonia Boring, New Florence RD 3 and Ida Crusan, Bolivar RD 1; 21 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; her sister Clella Saxton, New Florence RD 3, and her brother David, Youngwood. She was preceded in death by three children; her sister Della Violet. Friends will be received Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Howard N. Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Germany Lutheran Cemetery.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Bolivar and the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Nieport and Nettie Ankney; and two brothers, Willis and Ernie Henderson. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Russell T. Fulcomer; three daughters, Linda Mitchell, Libby, Mo.; Darlene Fulcomer, Denver; and Pamela Fulcomer, Lexington, Ky; two sons, Thomas R. and his wife Donna Fulcomer, and William G. Fulcomer, both of Bolivar RD1 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great granddaughters; one step great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews; four sisters, June McKinney, Indiana; Jenny Hodell, Armagh; Ethel Silk, Bolivar RD 1; and Ruth Krompholtz, Bolivar; and one brother, Arthur "Pete" Henderson, Johnstown. Melancholy Accident

On the 29th ult. Mr. James Fulton, of Derry Township, was accidentally killed, while assisting to put up skates or sliders, for the purpose of raising a log barn. When he discovered, that the piece of timber could not be prevented from falling, he attempted to retreat backwards and fell. The timber struck him across the breast. In an hour after the accident occurred, he was a corpse.
