Mrs. Violet M. Iscrupe, 62 of 460 Schultz Ave., Latrobe died Sunday, July 4, 1982 in Latrobe Area Hospital. A daughter of Harry and Margaret Eales Newhouse, she was born June 9, 1920 in Cokeville. Surviving are her husband, John M. Iscrupe Sr.; one son, John Jr., Latrobe; two grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Helen Cowan, Blairsville; Mrs. Vincent (Sara) Wilson, Freedom; and Mrs. Florence Yoh of New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ralph Newhouse. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. today and from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, 601 Weldon St. Latrobe. Services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Charles Carl officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Hills Cemetery, Laughlintown. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Agnes E. James formerly of Brackenridge Agnes Ewing James, 79 of 220 Springhouse Lane, New Wilmington, formerly of Brackenridge, died Monday (May 14, 1991) at 10:15 a.m. in Jameson Hospital, New Castle, after a lingering illness. She was born Dec. 9, 1910 in Indiana Township. Mrs James was an expert seamstress and craftswoman. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Mary Jean) Schneider of Mercer; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Sherman E. James; her parents, James and Jean Caldwell Ewing; Two brothers, David and James; and two sisters, Marion and Jeanie. Friends will be received Saturday from 10 a.m. in the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, Harrison. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Mitchell of All Saints Episcopal Church, Pittsburgh. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Associations.

Donald C. James 80, of Fawn died Wednesday (June 14, 2000) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison. He was born Nov. 3, 1919 in Bolivar. A 1938 graduate of Har-Brack High School he was the former owner and operator of James Service Station, Fawn. He also was retired from M. Maskas and Sons, Tarentum. A veteran of World War II he served in the Army Air Corps. Mr. James was a member of the Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars, Brackenridge American Legion and a former member of the Outdoor Life Lodge, Fawn. He enjoyed gardening, bird feeding, hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp in Tionesta. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Eleanor, Dunning, James a daughter, Donna James of Fawn a grandson and two brothers, Richard James of Fawn and Leslie James of Sarver. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert James; his parents Ernest C. and Hazel Muir James; and a brother, Robert L James. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home Inc. 1522 Carlisle St. Natrona Heights where services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Thomas E Brown officiating. Burial will be in Mount Airy Cemetery, Harrison. Brackenridge American Legion will hold memorial services.

Eugene R. James 75 of Irwin, died Monday Aug. 16, 1999 at his home. He was born Sept. 29, 1923 in Bolivar, Pa, a son of the late Harry and Gertrude Johns James. Surviving are his wife Alice Johns James of Johnstown; three daughters, Debra Hughes and her husband, Thomas of Jeannette, Denise Perin and her husband Michael of Smyrna, Ga., and Terri Fredo of Monroeville; five sons, Jerry James of Seattle, Wash., Dennis James and his wife Amy of Cobb Island, Md., Eugene James and his wife Jeanie, of Indiana, Pa., Berry James of Jeannette and Harry John 'Jack' James of Silver Spring, Md.; and seven grandchildren, Adesa and Amber James, Michelle Cecconello, Genevieve Perlin, Ashley Hughes, Melissa and Katie James. There will be no public visitation or funeral services. Family requests memorials to St. John's United Church of Christ Food Bank, 1230 Brownstown Road, Larimer, PA 15647. GILBERT W. JAMES 75 Rural Valley died Monday Aug. 18, 1986 in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. A son of Harry and Gertrude Johns James, he was born Nov. 15, 1910 in Cherry Tree. Mr James was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Rural Valley; a 32nd Degree Mason; member F&AM Kittanning Lodge 244; New Castle Consistory; Armstrong Police Association; FOP Lodge 39. He was the police chief of Rural Valley Borough for 32 years and was also a meter reader and collector for Equitable Gas Co. in Ford City RD 2. Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Gillette James; two sons; Wayne E. Rural Valley and Donald F. , Pompano Beach Fla., six grandchildren; two brothers; Lisle E. Rural Valley and Eugene. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Carson/Boyer Funeral Home Rural Valley. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the United Presbyterian Church of Rural Valley with Rev. Jean Weaver, officiating. Interment will follow in the Rural Valley Cemetery.

Goldie P. James, 79 Bolivar RD died Sunday June 7, 1981 at Lee Hospital, Johnstown. A daughter of the late Washington and Margaret (Mundorff) Wambaugh, she was born Oct. 22, 1901 in Lockport. Her death ends a marriage union of 62 years. Surviving are her husband, William M. and these children; Mrs. Hazel Bernabo, Mrs. Betty Sisitki, Robert E. Ronald and Mrs. Donna Gibson, all of Bolivar; and Dick. William C. and Mrs. Ethel Frampton all of West Bolivar. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; two sisters Mrs Cora Rhoads, Ligonier and Mrs. Susan Bernabo, Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine and three sisters. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Edward J. Speidel Funeral Home, Bolivar and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ West Bolivar with Kenneth Thompson officiating.. Interment will be in Germany Lutheran Cemetery.

Harry James Husband of Gertrude (Johns) James of Bolivar passed away Wednesday April 15, 1953 at 6:55 p.m. at his late home, following an illness of nine months. Born February 11, 1882 New Florence, Pa a son of the late Jacob and Mary Davis James, he had lived some years at Cherry Tree and Patton, Pa-the past 48 years in Bolivar. He was a member of the Church of Christ of West Bolivar and a Deacon of his church for 15 years, Mr James had been tax collector of Bolivar borough, was a former member of the Borough Council and Junior Mechanics. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Bolivar Local of UMW of A. Survived by his wife, three sons-Gilbert, Rural Valley, Pa; Lisle, Rural Valley, Pa; Eugene Cleveland, Ohio; a son Harry died in infancy; one daughter Mrs Wilda Gamble passed away six years ago; six grandchildren, one great grandchild; two brothers, Lewis of Tarentum, Pa, John of Louisville, Ky; three sisters Mrs Gertrude Forsha, Blairsville, Mrs Myrtle Garland, Bolivar, Mrs Elsie Garland, Bolivar. Friends will be received at his late home, Market St, Bolivar, Pa after 7:00 p.m. Thursday and at the church one hour prior to services, which will be conducted Saturday, April 19th at 2:00 p.m. in the Church of Christ, West Bolivar. The Rev. Richard E Lear will officiate. Interment Bolivar Cemetery, Bolivar, Pa. Robinson's, Indiana, Pa in charge of services.

Mrs. James, Heart Victim at Age 63

A heart attack took the life of a long time Natrona Heights resident this morning (Jan. 31, 1965) when Mrs. Hazel (Muir) James died unexpectedly in her home, 1509 Second St. Death occurred at 1 o'clock. Mrs. James came to the Heights area in 1926 from Bolivar, where she was born on May 14, 1901 to the late Robert and Jeannette( Wynn) Muir. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Bolivar. Survivors include her husband: four sons: Donald C. and Richard A. James , Fawn Township: Robert L, Oakland, Md. and Leslie M. North Pike Road, Sarver; two sisters: Mrs. Alice Henderson, Bolivar and Mrs. Lena Stiffey, Pitcairn; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. After 7 this evening friends may call at Robert E. James, Helen L. (Warnick)

Helen L. James, 72, Mtn Lake Park died Friday March 25, 1994 at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland. Born Dec. 26, 1921 in Oakland she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Clara (Setzer) Warnick. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. James in 1981. Survivors include one daughter. Margaret Weggland, Levittown, N. Y.; one son Donald A James, Poolesville; one sister, Lucille Marsh, Oakland; one brother, Forrest Warnick, Millerville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted Sunday, March 27, with the Rev. Ralph Reedy officiating. The body was cremated, with the cremains interred in the Oakland Cemetery.


James, Jacob

Indiana Evening Gazette - December 14, 1910

Jacob James aged 74 years died at Bolivar on December 3. He served his country as a member of Company A 54th regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers, was a member of the G. A. R. Union Veteran Legion and an honorary member of Camp 730, P. O. S. A. of Bolivar and all these organizations attended his funeral. He is survived by his widow and the following children: Elsie, wife of George Garland, and Lewis and Thomas, of Bolivar; Gertrude wife of Alva Forsha, of Blairsville; Harry of Cherry tree; John of Montana; Maude, wife of J. B. Hughes of Louisville, Ky. and Myrtle wife of W. T. Adams of Salins. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The Johnstown, PA :Tribune" Issue of 9, December 1910 - JACOB JAMES DEAD

Another Veteran of the Fifty-Fourth Regiment Answers Final Summons. - Special to the Tribune

Bolivar, Dec. 9.---The funeral of Jacob James, who died here on Saturday night, took place on Tuesday when services were conducted by the Rev. Oscar B Emerson, pastor of the local M. E. Church. Interment was made in the West Bolivar Cemetery. Mr James' death was due to kidney trouble. He was born near Conemaugh Furnace in 1835 and served throughout the Rebellion of company A, Fifty-fourth Regiment, P. I. V. under the late Capt. John L decker. Mr James enlisted in Johnstown and had an enviable record as a soldier. In September 1864 during an engagement at Winchester, Va. a piece of shell struck him in the face knocking him to the ground. "There goes James" cried one of his comrades, but the brave little soldier immediately jumped to his feet and replied, "He has like Hell" Mr James remained with his company until the summer of 1865. He is survived by his wife and several children.

Bolivar, Pa - March 10, 1911 - The late Jacob James

At the request of relatives and comrades of the late Jacob James we publish his war record which follows: Jacob James enlisted August 6, 1861, from Westmoreland County, Pa and was mustered into the United States service at Harrisburg, Pa. to serve three years as a private in Company A, 54th Reg. Pa. Vol. Infantry under Capt. John Sutter, and Col. Jacob M. Campbell. the regiment was assigned to the First Brig. 2nd Div. 18th Corp. Army of the Potomac. Jacob James shared his fortunes in all surrenders, as follows: Battle Creek June 1862; guard and picket duty on board O. R. R. until January 1863; engaged Gilmore's Guerillas, Jan. 1864; honorably discharged and re-enlisted as a veteran Feb. 10, 1864 in Comapny A 54th Penns. Vol. Infantry; engaged at New Market, May 15, 1864; New Hope, June 5, 1864; Lexington, June 11, 1864; Lynchburg, June 15, 1864; Oregon. Aug. 22, 1864 where he was wounded over the left eye and sent to McEllen Hospital, Philadelphia for six weeks; regained regiment at Winchester. Engaged at Cedar Creek, Oct. 19, 1864; fall of Petersburg, April 2, 1865; High Bridge, April 6, 1865, where he was captured and sent to Annapoils, Ind. where he remained on parole until finally and honorably discharged May 3, 1865 by reason of the end of the war. Lewis G. James, 81, of 916 Roup Ave., Brackenridge, died unexpectedly last evening in Fair Winds Convalescent Home, South Buffalo Township. Mr. James, ill for a month, entered the home Tuesday and seemed in normal health yesterday. A resident of Bolivar most of his life he moved to Brackenridge 10 years ago. He was a retired employee of Bethlehem Steel Corp. Johnstown plant and a member of Bolivar Daughters of America. Mr. James was born on Jan. 18, 1880 in Westmoreland County to the late Jacob and Mary A Davis James. He leaves two sons; Ernest C. Natrona Heights and Sherman E. Brackenridge, with whom he made his home: three sisters; Mrs. Gertrude Forsha, Blairsville, Mrs. Myrtle Garland and Mrs. Elsie Garland, both of Bolivar, six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. His wife, Mrs. Mary A. James, died in 1950. Friends may call at the Robert E. Peters Funeral home 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights from 7 to 9 this evening and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Friends will be received in the John A. Featherstone Funeral Home Bolivar, Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. and on Saturday until services at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Fort Palmer Cemetery, Fairfield Township.

Robert K. James - Formerly of Fawn Robert Keith "BJ" James, 44, of Carnegie, formerly of Fawn died Thursday (Aug. 13, 1998) in Titusville hospital. Born Sept. 7, 1953 in Natrona Heights, Harrison, he lived in Fawn before moving to Carnegie. Mr. James was a 1971 graduate of Highlands High School and a 1973 graduate of Penn State New Kensington, Upper Burrell. He was a production representative at A.D.P., Findley, for the past 25 years. Mr. James was a member of the Millerstown United Methodist Church softball team in Fawn. He was an avid fan of Penn State, especially football, the Penguins and the Steelers. He also enjoyed camping in the Tionesta area. Survivors include his parents, Donald C. and Eleanor Dunning James of Fawn and a sister, Donna K. James of Fawn. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home Inc. 1522 Carlisle St. Natrona Heights, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Robert James, Loch Lynn, Md.

Robert L. James, 60, of Shenandoah Avenue, Loch Lynn, Md., formerly of Natrona Heights, died Friday (Jan. 23, 1981) in Garrett County Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Bolivar to Ernest C and Hazel Muir James. Mr James was a partner in Oakland Tire Service for more than 30 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Proctor Kildow Post 71 of the American legion. Survivors include his widow, Helen L Warnick James; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Weggeland of Levittown, NY; one son Donald A James of Poolesville MD; three brothers, Donald C and Richard A both of Tarentum, and Leslie M of Saxonburg; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A service was held in Oakland. the family suggests contributions be made to the Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 256, Oakland, Md. 21550.

Sherman E. James New Wilmington Sherman E. James, 80, of 220 Springhouse Lane, New Wilmington, and formerly of Brackenridge, died yesterday (March 24, 1989) at 9 a.m. in the Overlook Nursing Home, New Wilmington. Born Aug. 15, 1906 in Bolivar, Westmoreland County, he was the son of the late Lewis G. and Mary Devlin James. Mr. James was employed as an assistant superintendent at the bar mill in Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp's Brackenridge Works, retiring in 1971 after 43 years service. Survivors include his wife of 61 years. Agnes Ewing James of New Wilmington; a daughter Mrs. Richard (Mary Jean) Schneider of Mercer; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Ernest James and a sister, Maude McMahon. There will be no public visitation. Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, 1521 Freeport Road Natrona Heights. The Rev. Robert L Mitchell of All Saints Episcopal Church, Pittsburgh will officiate. The family will meet friends from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park. Lower Burrell. James - William C. 73 Bolivar died Jan. 17, 2003 at his home. Born May 2, 1929 in Fairfield Twp. son of late William 'Mack' and Goldie (Wambaugh) James. Prior to his retirement he had been employed as a dry pan operator for the former Garfield Refractories. a US Army veteran of Korean War. Survived by special friend Helen (Henderson) James, Bolivar , son William H. Baird James, Bolivar; stepchildren, Tracy Moore, Andrew 'Bo' Baird and Michael Baird, all of Bolivar,; and six stepgrandchildren. Brother of Mr. Roger (Hazel) Shomo, Mrs. Rudy (Betty) Sisitki, Mrs. Lesley (Ethel) Frampton, Mrs. Grant (Donna) Givson, Robert (Mary Jane) James and Ronald (Ruth) James, all of Bolivar. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Harold R James and sister, Catherine James. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at J. Paul McCracken Funeral Chapel Inc. 536 Market St. Bolivar, the Rev. Robert Cummings officiating. Interment will follow at Germany Lutheran Cemetery with full military honors.

JONES - Kenneth P. 58, Robinson died Oct. 1, 2001 at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Dec. 20, 1942 in Robinson, son of Anna Jane (Clawson) Jones and the late Paul H. Jones. Survived by mother, Robinson; wife of 36 years, Cora (Bucceri) Jones; sons, Derek S. (Heather) Jones. Fairbank, Alaska; and Shann P. (Teresa) Jones, Stephens City, Va.; and grandson, Devin Jones, Ken was a teacher for the United School District for over 36 years and coached wrestling for 19 years. Member of Robinson and Vintondale Sportsmen's Clubs and the Retreads Motorcycle Club. He loved his wife and family dearly as well as his special students. Ken also loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at J. Paul McCracken Funeral Chapel, Bolivar. Private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be private. Family requests no flowers. Martha E. Shirey Jones 63, Graham, N.C. formerly of West Bolivar, died July 30, 2001 Born Nov. 12, 1937 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Lawrence and Norma (McClelland) Shirey. She is survived by her children, Mrs. Michael (Sally) Shaffer, Harrisburg, Barry, Graham, and Raymond, Savannah, Ga.; five grandchildren; sisters Catherine Brendlinger, Burlington, N.C. and Dorothy Wagner, Johnstown and brother Lawrence Jr. Bolivar. Services were held Thursday at McCracken Funeral Chapel, Bolivar Rev. A. Dale Dudgeon officiating. Burial was in Fort Palmer Cemetery, Bolivar.
