Rose M. Rhoades 38, of Derry died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000 in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born March 4, 1962, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late James L. and Edna (Flickinger) Rhoades. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and the American Legion and VFW. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Dora, Cora and Margaret May Rhoades. Rose is survived by a son, Ryan James Rhoades and a daughter, Ashley Amber Velkey, both at home; brothers, Richard E. Rhoades, William M. Rhoades (and his wife, Doris), Donald L. Rhoades (and his wife, Beckey) all of Derry, James L. Rhoades Jr. of Cornelius, N.C., Thomas R. Rhoades of Salem, Ohio, and Robert J. Rhoades (and his wife, Cindy) of Blairsville; a sister, Barbara A. Rhoades of Saltsburg, also several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Michael J. Quinlisk Funeral Home Inc., 548 N. Chestnut St., Derry. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. F. Neal Galley officiating. Interment will follow in Coles Cemetery, Derry Twp.

Earl R. Roby, of Yakima, Wash. died Saturday, July 19, 1997 at home. Mr. Roby was born July 11, 1932 in Bolivar, son of John and Clara Betz Roby. He went to Yakima in 1950 with the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife Shirley; five children, Thomas, Olympia, Wash., Michael, Jordan, Selah, Bill, Jordan, Soday, Daisy, Tenn., and Cherly Heckard and Robin Parham, both of Yakima; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; Also surviving are a brother and six sisters, Jack of Lancaster, Pa., Alice Harvey of Bolivar, Zelma Brendlinger of Coudersport, Pa., Helen Wagner of Lancaster, Ginger Fako of Clymer and Carol Sacco of Homer City.

Also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Survived by husband, Kenneth R. Robinson and these children: Ellis Noel Corey, Blairsville; Phillip Corey, Youngstown; James Robinson, Johnstown; Gayle Robinson, Bolivar; Betty Lou Bloom, New Florence; John Robinson, Philadelphia; and David Robinson, New Florence RD 2; also seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Nellie (Welshons) Robinson, 73 of Bolivar died Aug. 22, 1968 in Johnstown. She was a daughter of the late Lester and Amanda Welshons and the widow of John A. Robinson. Surviving are these children: Kenneth, William and Mrs. Lois Salyards, all of Bolivar and Mrs. Helen Hood of New Florence; also 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; brothers Lane Welshons of Detroit, Michigan and Wray Welshons of Fenton, Mich. Funeral service was held at the Edward J. Speidel Funeral Home, Bolivar, the Rev. James Leitch officiating. Interment was in Fort Palmer Cemetery.

He was employed by Johnstown Plant of Bethlehem Steel Corporation, a member of the Bolivar U. P. Church, Post 128 American Legion, Veteran of WWII. Interment in Ft. Palmer Cemetery.

Rosborough, Julia A. (Long) Black Hazlett

Mrs Julia A Rosborough aged 79 years died at her home in Cokeville on Saturday. She was married three times, her first husband Barney B Black; her second, Samuel F Hazlett, and her third partner in life was James Rosborough who survives. Her three husbands were veterans of the Civil War. Among the children living is James Black of Blacklick.
Mrs. Julia Rosborough died suddenly at her home in Cokeville at 9:00 o'clock Saturday evening August 25, aged 79 years. The deceased was formerly Miss Julia A. Long. In 1862 she married Barney B. Black who died January 15, 1893. May 24, 1894 she married Samuel F. Hazlett who died May 17, 1905. On April 19 1906 she married James Rosborough who still survives. All three were veterans of the Civil War. She is also survived by the following children: James Black, of Blacklick; Mrs Thomas Eales of Cokeville; Mrs Anna B Hazlett, of Millwood; Charles Black of Jewell; John Black at home and Robert Black of Sharon. There are also 44 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. The deceased lived nearly all her life in Blairsville and Saltsburg. She was converted in early life and was a devout Christian. Mrs Rosborough was a member of Free Methodist Church of Blairsville. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Callen of Blacklick were held at her late home and interment made in Blairsville Cemertery.

Mrs. Samuel Connor of this place received word yesterday of the death of her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Ruffner, of Blairsville, who died very suddenly at Indiana last Wednesday. Mrs. Ruffner was well-known among the older residents of Latrobe. She was the widow of the late James Ruffner, who died in Blairsville, last March. She was born in Derry twp. and lived there a greater part of her life. She was 70 years of age and leaves the following children: Mrs. Albert Short, Gray station; James L. Ruffner, East Greensburg; Mrs. Samuel Connor, Latrobe; Mrs. John Luther, Indiana; Mrs. Charles F. Ehalt, Greensburg; John E. Ruffner, who lives on the old homestead in Derry Twp.; Mrs. Harry F. Fisher and Miss Maggie, Blairsville.

Frank L. "Tootie" Rugh 45 of Greensburg RD 4 died Oct. 11, 1982 at home. He was born April 25, 1937 in Salem Twp. a son of Ora Linhart Rugh of Murrysville and the late Carroll B. Rugh Jr. A repairman employed by Consolidated Natural Gas Co., he was a member of Congruity United Presbyterian Church. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his widow, Janet Lee McIntrye Rugh; two daughters, Rebecca of Edinboro and Caroline at home; one sister, Miss Mary Elizabeth Rugh of Edinboro, and one brother, Carroll Rugh of Greensburg RD 4. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in M. Wallace Felton Funeral Home, New Alexandria. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in Central Cemetery, Hempfield Twp.
