TANTLINGER Glenn B. 79 Bolivar died Oct. 24, 2005 at home. Born Aug. 4, 1926 in Fairfield Twp. son of the late William A. and Agnes P. (Lear) Tantlinger. Preceded in death by brothers, Leroy and William Tantlinger, and sister, Louise Henderson. Survived by wife of 60 years, Peg (Horner) Tantlinger; children, Charles W. Tantlinger and wife Ellen, Cambridge, Vt.; Clyde Tantlinger and wife May, New Florence; Glenn E. Tantlinger and wife Vicki, Bolivar; James E. Tantlinger and wife Carrie, Homer City; Frank E. Tantlinger and wife Heidi, Bolivar; Peggy Jones and husband George, Bolivar and Sue McGeary and husband Matt, Seward; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and sisters, Erma Muir, Bolivar and Mary Edna Knupp, Latrobe. Member of Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church. Charter member and former treasurer of Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company. Retired employee of Westinghouse Electric, Derry, with 38 years of service. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church, Pastor James Tomb and Pastor Homer Tantlinger officiating. Interment Ligonier Valley Cemetery.

Bluegrass music lover, molder for 35 years at Allegheny Foundry in Bolivar.

Robert L. Thompson 67 of Bolivar RD 1 died Thursday, March 4, 1999 at Latrobe Area Hospital. Mr. Thompson was one of the original organizers of the first bluegrass music festival in the early 1960's that flourished in this area and all of Western Pennsylvania through the 1970's and 1980's and even to the present day. In the early 1970's he helped found "True Blue Grass", which performed in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio in the 70's and 80's. He was an avid and accomplished musician, dedicated to this style of acoustic music in its truest form. Born Aug. 29, 1931 in Bolivar, he was the son of the late Ralph Thompson and Leona Muir Thompson Long. He was employed as a molder for 35 years at Allegheny Foundry Bolivar. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Helen Donahue Thompson; six children, Mrs. Frank (Heidi) Tantlinger, Bolivar, Mrs. Douglas (Patricia) Flickinger, Newville, Pa., Kerry and his wife Delores and James, both of New Florence, Jeffrey, Jacksonville, Fla. and Joseph, Robinson; Also surviving are three grandsons, Eric, Jacob and Alex; Also two brothers, Ralph "Whitey" of New Kensington and Leonard "Andy" Long of Bolivar. He was preceded in death by his step father Lester Long and his son Robert S. J. Paul McCracken Funeral Home, Bolivar, was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Robert S. Thompson 37 of Bolivar RD 1 died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1987 at Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. He was born Nov. 3, 1950 in Johnstown, a son of Robert L. Thompson of Bolivar RD 1 and the late Nora (McClain) Thompson. He was employed as a coal miner for the Florence Mining Portal No. 2 and was a member of the United Mine Workers Association Union Local No. 1618. In addition to his father he is survived by his wife, Vicky (Deemer) Thompson of Bolivar RD 1; his stepmother, Helen (Donahue) Thompson of Bolivar RD 1; two sisters, Heidi Thompson of Bolivar RD 1 and Pat (Mrs. Douglas) Flickinger of Bolivar RD 1; four brothers, Kerry L. of Robinson, Jeffrey of Greensburg, Joseph and James, both of Bolivar RD 1; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Long of Bolivar RD 1; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Rose McClain ; three nephews and several aunts and uncles. Private funeral services were held Saturday in the families residence with the Rev. Samuel Astolos officiating. Arrangements by J. Paul McCracken Funeral Home, Bolivar. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Leukemia Foundation.
