The funeral of Miss Maria CLARKSON was held yesterday afternoon from the residence of her father on Newport avenue. The service was largely attended by friends and relatives of the deceased, and was conducted by Rev. John Whitehill of Oldstown, Mass., and Rev. A. S. Wicks rectors of the Church of the Good Shepherd of this city.
At the service there was a large delegation from Milton Grange, (---) of (---), No. 187 of North Attleboro and also the Christian Endeavor Society of the Oldtown Church, of which the deceased was a member.
Interment was in the cemetery in South Attleboro, and the bearers were Walter . Grover, Robert Murphy, Robert Hoyce and Walter Whitehill. There were a number of floral tokens, among them being a pillow, “Maria,” from the family, basket, Milton Grange of North Attleboro, cross and base, Mrs. and Miss Hunt, creascent, “Maria,” Walter F. Grover, wreath and base, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wightman, basket from Miss Alise Brown, Miss Grace Parker, the Misses Mary Rhobach and Miss Annie Sleiger, bouquet, A. Boyd, bouquet, from Mrs. C. . John COLLINS, an old and highly respected resident of this city, died this morning at his residence, 360 Pleasant street. The deceased had been in failing health for some time and death was due to old age. Mr. Collins leaves a family of five adult children, all of whom reside in this city, with the exception of Mrs. Mary B. Buffington who lives at Warren. The children living in this city are Miss Ann Collins, John, James and David Collins, the latter being in business at the corner of Dexter and Main streets.The funeral will take place Wednesday morning at 8 o’clock. The remains will be taken to St. Mary’s Church, where a high mass of requiem will be celebrated. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. PATRICK CROGAN SUCCUMBED TO INJURIES RECEIVED BY A FALL
Patrick CROGAN , who resided on Bagley street to the Woodlawn district, died last night at the Rhode Island Hospital from injuries received by falling from a high stone wall, which borders the track near the Woodlawn railroad station. The accident occurred one week ago Monday evening, when Crogan was found on the railroad bed by Patrolman Dwyer. At the time he was taken to the police station and from there sent home. Afterwards City Physician Janke ordered his removal to the Rhode Island Hospital, where he remained in a precarious condition until last night, when he passed away. An examination by the doctors at the Hospital showed that Crogan had sustained an inury to the spine and was also suffering from internal injuries.The deceased leaves a wife and three children. His funeral will occur tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from O’Neil’s undertaking rooms on Pine street. [Pawtucket Times, Jan 4, 1898, Submitted by Karen Seeman]
