Capt. John
Anderson Butler
Aiken, May 11, - Capt. John Anderson Butler died Sunday at
his home in North Augusta, this county. Capt. Butler was well
and favorably known throughout this section of South Carolina.
He entered the War Between the Sections when a lad of barely
16 years and served throughout the conflict. Afterwards he
took part in the Humburg and Ellenton riots. Capt. Butler had
been in ill health for the past year. He is survived by one
son, Thomas M. Butler, and three daughters, Mrs. J. L.
Randall, Mrs. H. C. Hagin and Miss Kate Butler. Funeral
services were held Monday, interment being at Sweetwater

Dr. W. L.
Seigler
Aiken, May 13, Dr. W. L. Seigler, an extensive farmer of
Eureka, died Sunday night, May 12, at the Aiken Hospital after
an illness of several weeks, the result of a stroke of
paralysis. Dr. Seigler was 72 years of age and had been
married three times. For several years he lived in Florida,
and many years ago he practiced denistry in Aiken. He is
survived by one son 16 years of age and one brother living at
Ridge Spring. (The State May 19, 1918)
Carl J.
Shealy, Aiken Physician
NORTH AUGUSTA -- Services for Carl J. Shealy, 67, will be
held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home is in charge. Memorials may be
made to the church organ fund or the Margaret J. Weston Rural
Health Center, P.O. Box 277, Clearwater 29822. Dr. Shealy died
Saturday, May 28, 1994. Born in Lexington County, he retired
as a medical doctor from the Veterans Administration Medical
Center of Augusta and worked with the Margaret J. Weston Rural
Health Center of Clearwater. He was a former member of the
Aiken County School Board and a member of Holy Trinity
Lutheran Church, where he was former president of the church
council. Surviving are his wife, Margaret T. Shealy; sons,
Stuart Shealy of Farragut, Tenn., Arthur Shealy of North
Augusta, Christopher Shealy of Columbia and Carl Shealy of
Lake Murray; and five grandchildren. (State, The (Columbia,

George C.
Klatte
Aiken, Jan. 5 – George C. Klatte, a well know
and highly respected citizen of Aiken, who for the past
several years has been a printer engaged in business there,
died Thursday night at 10:30 o'clock at his home after an
illness that has lasted for more than a year. The deceased was
about 45 years of age, and lifelong resident of Aiken, having
been born and reared here. He was held in high esteem by his
fellow citizens. Besides his wife and four stepchildren, he is
survived by his father, one sister and one brother. The
funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock at
St. Thaddeus Episcopal church, of which the deceased was a
member, and were conducted by Rev. R. C. Jeter, the interment
being in Bethany cemetery. (The State - January 6, 1913 )
PV2 Algernon Adams U.S.
ARMY
Pvt. Algernon Adams of North Augusta entered
into rest Tuesday, October 28, 2003 in Iraq.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday,
November 5, 2003 at 1 p.m. at First Shiloh Baptist Church with
Rev. Willie L. James officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue
Cemetery. PV2 Adams, a native of Augusta, was a 1985 graduate
of Butler High School. He was a member of 122nd Brigade
National Guard Unit, Aiken, activated in March 2003 in support
of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Survivors are his wife, Rosa Adams; three
sons, Sharod Adams, Kansas, Lachadrick Freeman, Norricco
Freeman, Clarks Hill; four daughters, Arista Freeman,
Louisiana, April Adams, Nonregal Adams, Augusta, Allisha
Adams, North Augusta; parents, Bobby and Colopia Ann Brown,
Augusta, Eugene and Naomi Adams, Philadelphia, Pa.; sisters,
Dedrey Shepherd, Augusta, Naomi Adams, Nakea Fuller,
Philadelphia, Pa.; brothers, Varain McMillian, Augusta,
Nicholas Adams, Philadelphia, Pa.; grandmother, Lula Bell
Brown, Augusta; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews

Marine Cpl. Matthew Dillon
AIKEN, S.C. - Funeral services for Marine Cpl.
Matthew Dillon will be held at 12pm on Wednesday, December 20,
2006 at Millbrook Baptist Church. Interment will follow in
Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville. The family will receive
friends Tuesday, December 19, 2006 from 6-8pm at Millbrook

of Aiken, died Monday, December 11, 2006 while on patrol in
