Barkers Creek Baptist Church
Anderson County, South Carolina Genealogy Trails

Barker's Creek church was organized in 1821.  Reverend Arthur Williams was its first pastor.  He served for nineteen years, and for all of that time nothing was ever said about paying their pastor a salary.  Reverend D.W. Hiott served that congregation at four different times, and under his administration two of the four houses of worship of the congregation were built.  The last, a handsome building, was dedicated Sunday, July 2nd 1922.  (Source: Traditions and History of Anderson County, pg 48).  The church is located at SC 252, 2 miles W of Honea Path.
