2003 Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.
Saturday, April 12, at Guinyard-Butler Middle School in Barnwell
with the Rev. Dr. Sam Davis, Eulogist, and the Rev. Eugene Keitt Jr.
officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will be in Hope
Memorial Park in Barnwell. The body to lie in state beginning at
noon. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Wanda C. Buggs
of Barnwell; one son, Guy Buggs of Barnwell; mother, Mrs. Iva Buggs
of Williston; father, Mr. George Buggs of Barnwell; two sisters,
Joyce and Delaine Buggs, both of Barnwell; maternal grandmother,
Mrs. Clydie Dicks of Williston; paternal grandparents, George and
Mrs. Florine Buggs of Barnwell. Visitation will be held from
6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Jenkins Memorial Chapel Inc. in
Elko. U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Jason DeFrenn will be
remembered today in funeral services in Barnwell. DeFrenn and another soldier were killed Feb. 2 when
their Apache helicopter was shot down north of Baghdad. He is the
10th casualty of the Iraq war either from or with close ties to The
T&D Region. The funeral for the 34-year-old will be at 2 p.m. at
First Baptist Church of Barnwell. His body arrived back in Barnwell
on Feb. 13. DeFrenn had been expected home in couple of weeks for
his wife, the former Jenny Still of Bamberg, giving birth to the
couple's second child. After learning of her husband's death, Mrs. DeFrenn
was taken to Palmetto Baptist in Columbia where doctors worked to
induce labor. At approximately 2:35 p.m. Feb. 6, Christopher Andrew
DeFrenn was born, weighing in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces. Originally from Barnwell, DeFrenn attended the
Barnwell public school system through 1989. His wife is a 1997
graduate of Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School. Ulmer said the two met
about 10 years ago when DeFrenn managed the Bamberg Pizza Hut where
Jenny DeFrenn was also employed. They were married in 1999. BLACKVILLE -- A 24-year-old soldier from Blackville,
who was killed Feb. 25 when an explosive detonated near his unit in
Taji, about 20 miles north of Baghdad, will be laid to rest
Friday. Specialist Jason L. Moski, who was
assigned to a battalion of the 1st Armored Division, was serving his
second tour of duty in Iraq. His unit was on dismounted patrol in
support of Operation Iraqi Freedom when he was
killed. Moski was born in Columbia and grew up in
Salley. He was the son of Murdock V. "Murray" Moski and the late
Regina New Moski. He is survived by his wife, Hollie R. Moski, and
daughter, Haley Elizabeth, 3. Moski graduated from Wagener-Salley High
School in 1999 and attended Midlands Tech. Before joining the U.S.
Army, he was employed as a set-up technician at the Nibco Inc. plant
in Denmark. He was stationed with his family at Fort Riley,
Kan. Funeral services for Moski, with full
military honors, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at New Holland
Pentecostal Holiness Church in Blackville. He will be buried in
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in
