Jesse Ashcraft came personally before me the subscribing
Justice & Made oath under f…n of Law that he was present and
seed Rebecca Ashcraft Sign Seal & Deliver the within instrument of writing for the use & purpose therein mentioned and that Joel Ashcraft was a subscribing witness with himself.

Sworn & subscribed this 5th day of October 1827. Before D. Daniel JP Jesse Ashcraft

Note: Green Owens, husband of Tilitha Ashcraft, had no occupation noted on the 1850 census enumeration. He was probably disabled. He and Tilitha had three children when Joel made his bequest; they had a total of five children two years later when Rebecca made her donation. For some reason Joel and his mother saw the need to officially record these gifts. Nevertheless, the family, off the record, likely gave generously to the well being of Green, Tilitha and their children.
