These are to authorize and empower you, or any three or four
of you, whofe names are here under written, to repair to all fuch parts
and places within this ftate, as you fhall be directed unto by Jas Ashcraft or Jas Lee Exr’s of the
goods and chattels, rights and credits of John Ashcraft ~ deceafed, wherefoever any of the faid goods
and chattels are or do remain within the faid parts and places, and which
fhall be fhewn unto you by the faid Jas Ashcraft or Jas Lee on or before the first monday of Feb’y ~ next.

MEMORANDUM--That on the tenth day of December
in the year of our Lord, one thoufand eight hundred and sixteen perfonally appeared before
me John Boyd one of the
Juftices affigned to keep the peace in district of chester Henry Ferguson Joseph Crooke John Kelsey &
Robert Robinson who being of the appraifers appointed to appraife
the goods and chattels of John
Ashcraft Dec’d late of chester
District deceafed, who being duly fworn, made oath, that they would made a juft and true
appraifement of all and fingular, the goods and chattels of the said John Ashcraft deceafed, as fhall be
produced by the said James Ashcraft
& James Lee executors of the faid deceafed, and that the[y] would return
the fame, certified under their
hands, unto the faid E. Lyles
ordinary of chester district on or before the first Monday of Feb’y next.

and keg maker Dresser: alternate name for kitchen
cupboard Gnab: possible a leather strap used for sharpening
knives Hames: curved pieces of a harness that fit around the
neck of a draft animal and to which the traces are
attached Hogshead: large barrel often used to hold tobacco or
alcoholic beverages. A tobacco hogshead was used in (American) colonial times to
transport and store tobacco. It was a very large wooden barrel measuring
48 inches long and 30 inches in diameter at the head. Fully packed with
tobacco, it weighed about 1000 pounds. Moravian dish:
shallow, decorated bowl glazed on the interior only. This piece was
likely produced in Winston-Salem NC in the late 1700s or early 1800s.
Reed and harness: used on two-shaft tapestry or rug
looms Tray: chopping board or a tray for storing kitchen
knives Water pipe: urine receptacle or device for smoking
tobacco
