Jasper County, South Carolina News

02-20-1880; Paper: Georgia Weekly Telegraph

Last Friday Deputy Sheriff Micajah Key, of Jasper County arrested a man charged with killing another in South Carolina.  It seems that the party had been in Jasper County some time, and since his stay there had married a daughter of Mr. Thaddeus Pye, though he had a wife where he formerly lived. Two brothers of the murdered man  had been in the county several days seeking an opportunity to arrest the murderer. Finding that there was money in the post office for him, they posted the officers, and when he came last Friday to get the money, he was taken in charge by the Deputy  Sheriff. A reward of $150, we learn, was offered for his arrest. (contributed by Brenda Duckworth)
