Melancholy
On the 19th inst., the house of Mrs. Morton, a widow lady, of Marion District, with all her furniture in it, was burned to the ground and two of her children perished in the flames.

On the night of the 9th inst., a negro house of Mr. Wm. C. Davis, son of Mr. Jos. Davis, was also consumed by fire.  Out of five young negroes in it, only one escaped.
