Ivy Z. Abrams
Newberry, Dec. 2 - Ivy Z. Abrams died Thursday night at his home two miles northwest of Newberry and was buried Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Smyrna churchyard, the funeral services being conducted by the Rev. T. C. Croker. Mr. Abrams was 73 years old. He is survived by his wife and two sons and two daughters - Robert Abrams of Anderson and Clark Abrams of Newberry; Mrs. Will Johnson of Cross Hill and Miss Mildred Abrams, teachers, in the school at Johnston. Mr. Abrams served in the Confederate army the last two years of the war, going in when only a boy.

Bobby Gene Amick
NEWBERRY - Services for Bobby Gene Amick will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Freedom Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, PO Box 1106, Newberry, SC 29108.

Mr. Amick, 61, died March 21, 2005. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late Homer Wilson and Mary Bradley Amick. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Matthews Amick; daughters, Andy S. Hawkins and Sandy S. Kinard, both of Prosperity and Mandy S. Chappell of Roebuck; a grandchild and three step-grandchildren.

Edna Altman
NEWBERRY - Services for Edna Tobias Cooper Smith Altman, 87, formerly of Union City, Ga., will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Whitaker Funeral Home with burial in Baxter Cemetery. The Rev. R.J. Roberts will officiate.

Mrs. Altman died Saturday at the Franklin Health Care Center in Franklin, Ga. Born in Union, she was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are sons, Gary Cooper, Georgia, Floyd Smith Jr., Union, Maxie Smith, Landrum, Rayburn Smith, Union and Tobie Smith, Newberry; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ola Belle Abbott
Ola Belle Abbott, 83, of Newberry, widow of Ernest Belton Abbott, died Monday, June 22, 2009.

Born on January 3, 1926, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Johnie Arthur and Emma Mae Johnson Bobb.  She was a member of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Faye Riley of Saluda, Judy Carolyn Brooks of Newberry and Trudy Jewel Koon of Chapin; brothers, Robert Earl Bobb of Prosperity, Larry Vernon Bobb of Newberry and Otis David Bobb of White Rock; sisters, Eva Mae Somers and Blanche Cromer both of Newberry; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Abbott was predeceased by daughters, Frances Evelyn Abbott and Linda Raye Abbott, a sister, Mary Cromer and a brother John Clifford Bobb.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church by Rev. Floyd Sides, Rev. James Shealy, and Rev. Brett DeYoung.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church Bereavement Fund, 3074 Bachman Chapel Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Clyde R. Anderson
POMARIA … Clyde R. Anderson, 72, formerly of 5244 U.S. 176. Pomaria, widower of Elaine Carter Anderson, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

He was born on June 27, 1935 in Cerra Gordo, N.C. to the late Coy and Beulah Green Anderson. He was a retired employee of Epting Ballenger Corporation.

Mr. Anderson is survived by a daughter, Robin (Chuck) Smith of Tennessee; four sons, Danny Anderson and Sammy Anderson both of Newberry, Randy (Wanda) Anderson of Pomaria, and Gary Anderson of Lake Murray; a sister, Theatus Green of Whiteville, N.C. and three brothers; Douglas Anderson of Ash, N.C., Leo Anderson of Bladenboro, N.C., and Charles Richardson of Cerra Gordo, N.C.; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother George Anderson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Enoree Baptist Church by the Rev. George Leagan. Interment will be in church cemetery. Grace Long Amick
Prosperity Grace Long Amick, 87, widow of Ronald B. Amick, formerly of Counts Road, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late W.H. and Ida Baker Long. Retired: Whitten Center. Member: Bethel Baptist Church.

Pauline Gilliam Adams
Pomaria Pauline Gilliam Adams, 94, formerly of Highway 34, died Feb. 8, 2002.
She was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Lula Berley Gilliam, a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, the 55 Plus Club and a former choir member. Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy A. Herterick of Irmo a sister, Mattie G. Ringer of Pomaria one grandson and one great-grandson. Visitation: 5 to 6 p.m. today at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. W. H. Anderson
Mr. W.H. Anderson, who had long suffered with an affection of the lungs, came to Newberry recently hoping that a change of air and scene &c would restore his wasting energy, but all that affectionate relatives and kind finds could do proved unavailing and he gently fell on the sleep of death the 29th. An appropriate and impressive service was held at the Aveleigh Church and the remains were conveyed to Rosemount Cemetery and interred with Masonic honors. He was from the low county, an exemplary gentleman and member of the Medical profession.

Dr. James C. Abrams
Services for Dr. James C. Abrams, 79, of 940 Cornelia St. will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Whitaker Funeral Home, with burial in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Newberry College or First Baptist Church of Newberry.
Mr. Abrams died Friday, March 31, 1995. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late John Chesley and Etta Bedenbaugh Abrams. He was an Army veteran of World War II, was a graduate of Newberry College, received an M.Ed. from the University of South Carolina and a doctor of laws degree from Newberry College. He retired as registrar of Newberry College and was a former teacher and superintendent of Newberry schools.
Dr. Abrams was a charter member of Bachman Honor Society of Newberry College and Newberry Exchange Club.
He was a member of Prosperity Masonic Lodge 115, Grand Lodge of South Carolina, Masonic Education Committee of the Grand Lodge, the American, Southern and Carolinas Associations of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and First Baptist Church of Newberry, where he was Sunday school superintendent and teacher, a deacon and choir member.
Surviving are his wife, Rebecca Pettit Abrams; a daughter, Ann Heinz of Delray Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Thomas Abrams
NEWBERRY - Thomas M. Abrams, 81, formerly of 4200 Bush River Road, Newberry, died Saturday, January 10, 2004, in J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home. Mr. Abrams was born in Newberry County, a son of the late Oscar H. and Phoebe Reagin Abrams. He was a 1943 graduate of Clemson College and he was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the infantry in the European Theater. He had retired in 1984 as the Director of the Newberry County Conservation Service (ASCS) Office and he was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the agriculture in Newberry County. He was a member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder. He was also a member of the Newberry Lions Club and he was a Bush River Volunteer Fireman. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid Clemson football fan. Mr. Abrams is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia A. and Homer L. "Sonny" Ringer of Newberry; his grandson, Lee T. Ringer of Lufkin, Texas; a sister, Inez A. Stephens of Newberry; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Frances Abrams and Gertrude Wise and three brothers, Cecil, Mac, and Ed Abrams. Funeral services for Thomas M. Abrams will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Smyrna Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home. Claudia Sheely Aull
Claudia Sheely Aull, 101, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Myrtle Beach Manor. She was born Dec. 17, 1898, in Newberry, a daughter of the late Ludie A. and Maggie Hipp Sheely. She was a 1924 graduate of Columbia Hospital School of Nursing, a retired director of nursing in Pennington Gap, Va., and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Myrtle Beach. She was the widow of Roscoe S. Aull. Survivors include a brother, Harold P. Sheely of Virginia Beach, Va.; six nephews; and three nieces. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pomaria. Memorials may be made to any charity. McMillan-Small Funeral Home of Myrtle Beach is in charge.

Jasper Amick
Newberry, March 24 - Jasper Amick, 70, a well-known farmer on Lake Murray, died today after a long illness. Besides his widow, he is survived by four sons and three daughters, Eugene, Herbert, Carl, Clinton Amick, Mrs. Seber Amick and Mrs. Malcolm Amick of Prosperity and Mrs. C.T. Humphrey of Mooresville, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Amos, and 25 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 Saturday afternoon at Macedonia Lutheran church with the Rev. E.Z. Pence in Charge, assisted by the Rev. D. E. Oxner and the Rev. J.B. Harman. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Elizabeth Amick
Newberry, June 30 - Mrs. Elizabeth Huffstetler Amick, of Newberry, died this afternoon at the Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood. She had been ill for four months and seriously ill for the past two weeks. Mrs. Amick was a native of North Carolina, daughter of the late Ames and Anna Dunn Huffstetler. She had made her home in Ware Shoals with her daughter, Mrs. Lee Marler for a number of years. Her husband, James Luther Amick, died 18 years ago. Mrs. Amick was a member of St. Peters Pineywoods Lutheran Church. Survivors include one son, Horace O. Amick of Donalds; four daughters, Mrs. Eunice Farr of Little Mountain; Mrs. Rose Dennis of Newberry and Mrs. Alma Reaves and Mrs. Zilla Marler of Ware Shoals; three brothers, John of West Columbia, William of Chapin, and Robert Huffstetler of Prosperity; one half-brother, Charlie Huffstetler of Newberry; 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at the McSwain Funeral Home in Newberry.

Martha Boozer Abrams
Mrs. Martha Boozer Abrams, 58, wife of Thomas (Tom) M. Abrams of Route 3, Newberry died Saturday at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Abrams was born in Newberry County, daughter of the late Earnest L. and Martha Cole Boozer.  She was a retired employee of Newberry County School System and a member of Presbyterian Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sonny (Marcia) Ringer of Newberry; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Summer of Newbery and Mrs. Sara Kidd of Enterprize, Mississipi; one brother, Chevis I. Boozer of Newberry; and one grandson, Lee Thomas Ringer of Newberry.

Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. today (Monday) at Whitaker Funeral Home by Rev. Charles Gahagan.  Burial will be in Smyrna Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family suggest that memorials may be made to Smyrna Presbyterian Church.  Active pallbearers wee Bill Boozer, Chevis Boozer, Tommy Boozer, Earnest Boozer, Bill Ackerman and Jim Beard.  Whitaker Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge.

Benjamin Claude Adams
Mr. Benjamin C. Adams died at his home near Kinards on Monday and was buried on Tuesday at Trinity Church. He was about forty-five years of age and leaves a wife and several children. Mr. Adams was a native of Edgefield county but had lived in Newberry County about fifteen years. (submitted by Jane Adams Lloyd)

Richard Earl Addison
Memorial services for Richard Earl Addison will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Epting Memorial United Methodist Church. Visitation will be this evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epting Memorial United Methodist Church General Improvement Fund or Bus Fund, 1401 Milligan St., Newberry, SC 29108.

Mr. Addison, 83, died April 5, 2006. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late Dewey Sease Addison and Dezaree Young Addison Addy. Mr. Addison was retired from the S.C. Highway Department. He was a World War II Navy veteran, having served on the LST 346 as a chief Petty Officer Signalman, and participated in D. Day at Normandy. In 2003, he was awarded the Jubilee of Liberty Medal more than 50 years after his participation in what was described as America's greatest military victory. He was a member of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class. Mr. Addison was a member of Amity Lodge #87 AFM and the Hejaz Temple. He was a Ham Radio Operator and enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Florence Shealy Addision; daughters, Susan (Gary) Bouknight of Newberry and Crystal (Mike) Greenway of Simpsonville; sisters, Barbara Addy Stutts of Newberry, and Mary Ann Addy Kirby of Gastonia, N.C.; grandchildren, Benjamin Earl Bouknight, Aaron Addison Bouknight, Addison Michael "Buck" Greenway, and Noah Will Greenway; and great-grandchildren, Chelsea Bouknight, Cody Bouknight, Ryan Bouknight and Cole Bouknight. Mr. Addison was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Addy Molden; and a stepbrother, Frank Addy.

Carolyn Abrams (b. 5/26/1923-11/1/1998)
WHITMIRE - Services for Carolyn Epps Abrams, 75, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Whitmire United Methodist Church, with burial in Whitmire Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Gray Funeral Home. Mrs. Abrams, widow of Marvin Abrams Jr., died Sunday. Born in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur E. and Ola West Epps. Surviving are her sons, Marvin E. Abrams III, Ronald S. Abrams Sr.; daughters, Ann D. Gregory, Mary Frances A. McManus; brother, W. Harold Epps; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild.

John William 'Jack' Anderson
Newberry John William "Jack" Anderson, 78, formerly of 1523 Johnstone St., Newberry, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000. Mr. Anderson was born Dec. 8, 1921, a son of the late Benjamin Thomas "B.T." Sr. and Lorena Douglas Anderson. He was also predeceased by his brother, Ben T. Anderson Jr. Mr. Anderson was an honor graduate of Newberry College. He spent the majority of his teaching years at Newberry High School. He has long been remembered for his dedication to his students and the field of mathematics education.

Mr. Anderson resided at Brian Nursing Center/St. Andrews in Columbia after many years of hard battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was a Gift of Body Donor to the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, for the purpose of teaching and research. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be made to Newberry College, 2100 College St., Newberry, SC 29108 or to Newberry County Library, 1300 Friend St., Newberry, SC 29108 in hope of promoting education. -- Whitaker Funeral Home is in charge.

Lucretia Adams
SILVERSTREET - Graveside services for Lucretia Neal Adams, 79, formerly of 148 Abrams Street, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Silverstreet Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. Robert E. Mrs. Adams, widow of Frank Y. Adams, died Sunday at Newberry Co. Memorial Hospital. Born in Newberry Co., she was a daughter of the late John Eddie and Mary Ella Griffith Neal. She was a retired Business Agent for the Amalgated Clothing Workers, a member of Silverstreet Lutheran Church and the WELCA. She was also a charter member of Silverstreet High School Alumni Association.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Barry (Lisa) Richardson of Pomaria; sisters, Mrs. Bill (Carrie Lee) Suber of Newberry, Mrs. Wilson (Mary) Cleland of Clinton; brother, Ellerbe Neal of Clemson; grandchildren, Mandy, Christopher Richardson.

A. Floyd Amick
PROSPERITY - Services for A. Floyd Amick, 82, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Macedonia Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Randall Derrick officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Mr. Amick died May 25, 2002. Born in Prosperity, he was a son of the late George Arthur and Cora Hamm Amick. Mr. Amick served in the U.S. Army in the 98th Division in Japan during World War II. In 1938, he began employment with Prosperity Furniture Company, where he worked until December 1999. Mr. Amick was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council for a number of years, was the treasurer for 20 years, and was a member of the "Goldies." He was also a member of the Prosperity Fire Department for a number of years.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah Cannon Amick; sons and daughter-in-law, Donald (Dianne) Amick and Richard Amick, all of Prosperity; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean (Jimmy) Munn and Sandra (Hani) Daghestani, all of Columbia, Lynn (Dave) Burns of West Union, Karen (Jim) West of Raleigh, N.C.; brothers, Claude Amick of Prosperity, Grady Amick of Newberry; eight grandchildren; five great-grand-children. He was predeceased by brothers, Leo and David Amick.

Grady Amick
PROSPERITY - Services and burial for Grady A. Amick, 81, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Macedonia Lutheran Church. Mr. Amick died April 29, 2004 at J.F. Hawkins Health Care. Born in Prosperity, he was a son of the late G. Arthur and Cora Hamm Amick. He was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church and the Goldies.  He is survived by a brother, J. Claude Amick of Prosperity and a number of nieces and nephews.

J. Carl Amick
PROSPERITY - Services for J. Carl Amick, 91, of 2484 Macedonia Church Road, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Macedonia Lutheran Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. today at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family is at the home. Mr. Amick died August 10, 2002. Born in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Jasper and Nancy Minetta Hamm Amick. Mr. Amick was a retired carpenter and farmer and a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys Fulmer Amick; sons, Harry L. Amick of Prosperity, Albert C. Amick of Little Mountain; daughters, Jeannette A. Hipp, Doris A. Morris, Mary Bedenbaugh, and Nellie Morris, all of Prosperity, Helen Amick of Chapin; sister, Evelyn Humphrey of Mooresville, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren.

Lena Amick
PROSPERITY - Services for Lena P. Amick, 96, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Macedonia Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Randall Derrick and Terry Amick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the residence, 1636 State Park Road, Prosperity, and will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. today at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Mrs. Amick died January 5, 2002. Born in Lexington County, she was a daughter of the late Jasper Carl and Netta Hamm Amick. Mrs. Amick worked with her husband at Amick's Landing and was the oldest member of Macedonia Lutheran Church, where she was also a former organist.

Surviving are her son, Mack Amick Jr. of Newberry; daughters and son-in-law, Barbara A. Bedenbaugh and Eleanor (Jerry) Alewine, all of Prosperity; sister, Evelyn Humphrey of Mooresville, N.C.; brother, Carl Amick of Prosperity; grandchildren, Robert M. Bedenbaugh, Ty Bedenbaugh, Nancy Stoudemire, Jerry Alewine, Trey Amick, Brad Amick; great-grandchildren, Rachel Bedenbaugh, Taylor Bedenbaugh, Ryan Stoudemire.

Gladys Amick
Prosperity Gladys Shealy Amick, 87, of 548 McNeary St., widow of James Leo Amick, died Nov. 30, 2002, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Survivors: Daughters, Ann A. Bedenbaugh and Gay A. Rawls of Prosperity sister, Dorothy Stoudemire of Chapin four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Predeceased: Parents, O'Neal Shealy and Minnie Inez Fulmer Shealy Amick brother, Earl grandson, Terry Bedenbaugh.

G. Wayne Ayers
PROSPERITY - Funeral services for G. Wayne Ayers, 74, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Macedonia Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Newberry County Humane Society, Lake Murray Rescue Squad or Macedonia Lutheran Church.

Born in Marion, N.C., he was a son of the late James Augustus and Minnie Creson Ayers. Mr. Ayers had retired after 27 years of service with the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War. During his service he received a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and numerous other honors and medals. Following retirement from the military he worked for the U.S. Postal service in Columbia. Mr. Ayers was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church, the Goldies and the Lutheran Men. He was also a member of Lake Murray Rescue Squad, the Newberry County Humane Society and Fairview Community Center.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Amick Ayers; daughters, Susan A. Henley of Charleston and Jeanie A. Pauline Ayers
PROSPERITY - Services for Pauline R. Ayers, 63, of 644 Sunset Road, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Macedonia Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The family is at her residence, and will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorials may be made to Macedonia Lutheran Church, Lutheran Hospice, or to the Newberry County Humane Society.

Mrs. Ayers died Friday, May 29, 1998, at her residence. Born in Sprowston, (Norwich) England, she was a daughter of the late Timothy Coleman and Rosina Dobbs Blanchflower. She was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church. She was a founding member of the Newberry County Humane Society (NCHS), of which she was a past president and executive board member, was secretary-treasurer of the Lake Murray Rescue Team, and was a past secretary of the Fairview Community Center.

Surviving are husband, G. Wayne Ayers; daughters, Susan A. Henley of Charleston and Jeanie A. Flippin of Columbia; brother, Ronald Blanchflower of Norwich, England; sister, Joan Coles of Norwich, England; three grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.

Houseal Auton
PROSPERITY - Services for Houseal W. Auton, 79, of 189 State Park Rd., will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Randall Derrick. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at his residence and they will receive friends 7-8 this evening at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family suggests that those desiring may make memorials to Macedonia Lutheran Church, 49 Macedonia Church Rd., Prosperity, SC 29127 or to Lake Murray Rescue Squad, c/o Gary Seibert, 1397 Seibert Rd., Prosperity, SC 29127.

Mr. Auton died Thursday, September 28, 2000 at his residence. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late Loomis Henry and Elizabeth Duckett Auton. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired employee of Kendall Company, Oakland Plant. He was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Lutheran Men and the Goldies. He was the president of the local textile union for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Sara Mae Hipp Auton; sons, Henry Auton and Hugh Auton, both of Prosperity; daughters, Wanda Auton Amick and Tammy Auton Kunkle, both of Prosperity; nine granddaughters; 13 great-grandchildren.

N. Corine Ashley
COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Nancy Corine Ashley, 70, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2006, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel at Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the service. Mrs. Ashley died Sunday, January 29, 2006. She was the daughter of the late Henry Herbert Lathrop and Floy Corine Lathrop.

Mr. Ashley is survived by her husband, Wilson P. Ashley, Jr.; daughter, Rebecca L. Hawkins and son-in-law, Michael R. Hawkins; grandson, Justin Hawkins; granddaughter, Rachel Hawkins, all of Irmo; brothers, Thomas Lathrop of Oriental, N.C., and Wyman Lathrop of Anderson, S.C.; and sister, Georgia Stephenson of Pompano Beach, Fla.

Wilson P. Ashley JR.
COLUMBIA --Graveside services for Wilson P. Ashley, Jr., will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2006, at West End Cemetery, Newberry, SC. Whitaker Funeral Home of Newberry will be in charge of the interment. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo, is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Ashley passed away December 3, 2006. Born in Williamsport, PA, he was the son of the late Wilson P. Ashley, Sr. and Vinnette Abby Ashley.

Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca L. Hawkins; grandson, Justin Hawkins; granddaughter, Rachel Hawkins; and sister, Francis Joan Renn. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ashley was also preceded in death by his wife, Corine Lathrop Ashley and son-in-law, Michael R. Hawkins.
