Bethlehem Lutheran Church

Bethlehems first church was erected in 1816 under the guidance of its first pastor, Rev. Godfrey Dreher. The church was the site of two meetings of Synod, in 1855 and 1863 with the first lasting six days and the decision to locate to College Street in Newberry was made.

The present church building was built in 1881 and remodeled in 1942. An educational building was erected in 1936, and a new parish building in 1962. The church was formerly a part of the Bethlehem parish but became self-supporting in 1969. The Rev. Steven D. Jackson was one of their pastor's.

A cemetery resides close to the church.
