John Edward and wife Mary of Newberry County, South Carolina to John Brison of the State aforesaid for the sum of 45 sell unto John Brison one Negro wench named Clary about 26 years of age and her increase... signed John Edwards. Mary Edwards (mark) 9 October 1788. Wit. Mikie Abney, James Brison. Wit. Proved James Brison 1 Nov. 1788 before Silvanus Walker J.P.. Recorded June 23, 1789.

Deed Book C: 312 March 16, 1790. Bill of Sale. Joseph Griffin of Laurens County, State of South Caroling for the sum of 35 lawful money of die state aforesaid to James Goodman of Newberry County State aforesaid a certain Negroes man named Will about 35 years of age a native of Africa about 5 feet four or five inches high well set... 15 Mary 1790 signed Joseph Griffen. Wit. John Trotter, Thomas Wadsworth. Proved by John Trotter August 1790 before John Hunter, J.P. Recorded March 9, 1790.
