Fred Leo Fulmer Sr.
NEWBERRY — Services for Fred Leo Fulmer, Sr. will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Colony Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Mr. Fulmer, 82, died February 11, 2007. Born in Little Mountain, he was a son of the late Lory Cohen and Blanche Mayer Fulmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Colony Lutheran Church. He had retired from American Fiber and Finishing. He was a Mason and Shriner and more importantly, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Richardson Fulmer; sons, Fred Leo Fulmer, Jr. and wife, Beth, of Simpsonville, Daniel Walter Fulmer and wife, Suzie, and Richard Sidney Fulmer and wife, Roxanne, all of Newberry; grandchildren, Jacob and Natalie Fulmer, Angela Fulmer, Clayton Fulmer, Brittani Fulmer, Lori Fulmer and Sidney Fulmer. He was predeceased by his brothers, L.C., Ray and Jake Fulmer.

Active pallbearers: Fred Fulmer, Jr., Danny Fulmer, Richard Fulmer, Jacob Fulmer, Clayton Fulmer, Paul Hawkins, Dr. Joseph Frey and Brian Kunar. Gus Franklin Sr.
NEWBERRY - Services for Gus B. Franklin Sr., 76, of 4013 College Street, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Albert. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:00 this evening at Whitaker Funeral Home and the family will be at the residence, 4013 College Street. Active pallbearers will be Gus B. Franklin III, Donald E. Franklin, Dwight L. Mooney, Billye L. West II, Jeremy D. Larsen and John Arron Franklin. Mr. Franklin died Wednesday, May 30, 2001 in Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia. Born in Newberry County, he was a son of the late W. Hayne and Josie Brock Franklin. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific and retired as a manager of Market Basket. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and the Men's Bible Class. He was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church and served on the congregational councils of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Beth Eden Lutheran Church and Faith Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Annie Mary Buist Franklin of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Gus B. Jr. and Betty Mae Franklin and George E. and Donna Franklin, all of Newberry, James B. "Jim" and Gloria Franklin of Chapin and J. Henry Franklin of Prosperity; sisters, Maggie Lee F. Davis of Newberry and Joan F. Phibbs of Aiken; brother, William H. Franklin Jr. of Newberry; grandchildren, Gus Franklin III, Don Franklin, Anna Mooney, Debra West, Hope Franklin, Rhiannon Larsen, Aaron Franklin, Faith Franklin, Noel Franklin, Rachel Franklin, Scott Moore and Brett Moore; great-grandchildren, Bret West, Josie West, Brock Franklin, Morgan Franklin, Lane Moore and Jordan Moore. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Crystal M. Franklin and sister, Ida Mae F. Hawkins.

William H. Franklin Jr.
NEWBERRY - William H. Franklin Jr., 85, of 1119 Summer St., Newberry died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Newberry County on May 28, 1923 to the late W. Hayne and Josie Brock Franklin Sr. He was an US Army Air Core veteran of World War II and a retired mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Franklin was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and a former member of the Men's Bible Class. He was a member of the McDonald's Coffee Club and was a Master Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Byrd Franklin of the home; his son, William H "Bill" Franklin III and wife, Carolyn, of Irmo; two grandsons, Brian D. Franklin and wife, Monica, of Gilbert and Kevin A. Franklin and wife, Karen, of Lexington; three great grandchildren, Joel, Ashton and Landon Franklin; and two sisters, Maggie Lee Davis of Newberry and Joan Phibbs of Aiken. He was predeceased by a brother, Gus B. Franklin and a sister, Ida Mae Hawkins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer by the Rev. Caldwell Day. Interment will be in Rose-mont Cemetery. The family received friends yesterday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry. Pallbearers will be his nephews: Gus Franklin Jr., Jim Franklin, Henry Franklin, George Franklin, Hayne Davis, Andy Hawkins, Robert Phibbs and Ben Phibbs. Mary Fulmer
PROSPERITY - Services for Mary Frick Fulmer, 88, of 2133 Macedonia Church Road, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Macedonia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Randall S. Derrick. Mrs. Fulmer, widow of Furman E. Fulmer, died Monday, April 29, 2002 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born in Chapin, she a was a daughter of the late Lester E. and Bessie Arnold Frick. She had been a homemaker/gardener and a foster mother for Epworth Children's Home. She was an active member of Macedonia Lutheran Church, where she organized the "Goldies," serving as president for 17 years, taught Sunday School for 30 years, served as youth advisor for a number of years and was a member of WELCA, where she had held many offices.

Surviving are son, Edward Fulmer of Columbia; daughters, Carolyn F. Garner-Harrison of North Augusta, Jewel F. Oxner of Newberry, Sandra F. Metts of West Columbia, Janette F. Cain of Prosperity, Faye F. Cannon of Chapin; sisters, Stella F. Wessinger, Martha F. Glymph, Eleaner F. Rhodes, all of Chapin; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sons, Melvin Ray and Steve Randy Fulmer; brother, Edgar R. Frick.

Daisy Farrow
SILVERSTREET - Services for Daisy Mae Byrd Farrow, 51, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Scurry Springhill Baptist Church, Chappells, with burial in the church cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge.

Mrs. Farrow died October 18, 2001. Born in Newberry County, she was a daughter of Bessie Boston Farrow and the late Marvin Farrow Sr.

Surviving are mother; son, Taner Byrd; daughter, Mackenzie Byrd; two grandchildren; brothers, Marvin Jr., Tommie, John and Ossie Farrow; sisters, Roberta and Bessie Farrow, Mary King, Loretta Settles, Lozetta Peterson.

Earleen Felix
PROSPERITY - Funeral services for Mrs. Earleen Felix, age 77, will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Lower Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Felix died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009 at Lowman Home. Born in Lakeview, she was the daughter of the late James Brown and the late Remell Brown. Mrs. Felix was a member of Lower Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon Felix.

Surviving are four daughters, Tina Felix of Prosperity, Cynthia Nava of Chicago, Ill., Annette Venegas of Spartanburg and Shirleen White of Bladensburg, Md.; five sons, Daniel Felix of Prosperity, Jeffery Felix and Lazara Felix of Maryland, LeVonne Brown and James L. Brown of North Carolina; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; niece, Ramona Lee; nephew, William McClain; two sons-in-laws; one brother-in-law, Aron Gallmon; three god-children, Essence Stoudemire, Aaliyah Sanders and Kyon Daniels.

James Felker
NEWBERRY - Services for James Hillary Felker, 89, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Enoree Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Mr. Felker, widower of Ruth Thomas Felker, died June 27, 2004. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late Hillary and Belle Brock Feller. He was a life-long farmer and a member of Enoree Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 53 years.

Surviving are sons and daughter-in-law, James Thomas Felker and Paul and Ann Felker all of Newberry; a sister, Helen F. Duck of Abilene, TX; a granddaughter, Jessica Ruth Felker. McSwain-Evans Funeral Home is in charge.

Norman Z. Frick
Peak - Norman Z. Frick, 63, of 1700 Mike Stuck Road, died Oct. 20, 2001, at his home.  Born in Peak, he was a son of the late N.Z. and Tarzie Stoudemayer Frick. Service: U.S. Air Force. Retired: S.C. Electric and Gas Co., 40 years.

Survivors: Wife of 43 years, Evelyn Frick son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Lavenda Frick of Peak son, Russell Frick of Columbia daughter, Rhonda Livingston of Pomaria and five grandchildren.

Dorothy J. Fulmer
Kinards Dorothy J. Fulmer, 82, of 33652 Hwy 76E, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at Laurens County Hospital. 
Mrs. Fulmer was born in Newberry, the daughter of the late George and Jessie Epting Johnson. She was the widow of Aaron I. Fulmer, retired from the Joanna Mill, and was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, Kinards. Surviving are two sons, George Fulmer, of Ware Shoals, and Larry Fulmer, of Charleston three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Sharon United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. William Hightower. Eugene Glenn Fowler
POMARIA - Eugene Glenn Fowler, 84, of Pomaria, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at his residence.

Born in Newberry on Aug. 31, 1923, he was a son of the late J. Steadman and Hattie Geiger Fowler.

Mr. Fowler was an Army veteran of World War II having served as a Sergeant in Company L of the 47th Infantry 9th Division from July 14, 1943-Feb. 2, 1945 in Sicily, Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland. He was retired from Asbestos Local # 92, was a member of the Woodmen of the World, the Mt. Pleasant Hunt Club and Peak Masonic Lodge #151 AFM. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Methodist Men's Club and the 55+ Group.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Berley Fowler; sons, Dennis (Vicki) Fowler of Knoxville, Tenn. and Paul (Tina) Fowler of Pomaria; a daughter, Gayle (Duane) Harris of Pomaria; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, Raymond Smith and special neighbors and friends, Mike and June Ruff.

Services were held Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church by the Rev. Marian Dyer. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Ethel Bowers Fellers
Mrs. Ethel Bowers Fellers, 76, died early Tuesday morning at the Newberry Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Fellers was born in Newberry County, daughter of the late James M. and Lidie Sparks Bowers. For many years she was a teacher and principal of the West End School in Newberry. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, the Lutheran Church Women, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the South Carolina Retired Teachers Association, and the National Teachers Association. Her husband, F. Raymond Fellers, died 23 years ago. She is survived by one sister, Miss Clara Bowers of Newberry; one sister-in-law, Mrs. George S. Wise of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted today (Thursday) at 3:30 p.m. from the Whitaker Funeral Home by Rev. E. B. Keisler, and Dr. Henry A. McCullough Jr. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dr. James Underwood, Preston McAlbany, Herman Langford, Jesse Frank Hawkins, I. Schissell, Spence Wise, Emory Bowman, and Earl Bergen. Whitaker Funeral Home is in charge.

Alice Dickert Folk
Mrs. Alice Dickert Folk, 84, of 2105 Evans Circle, widow of William Folk, died Monday afternoon at her residence. Mrs. Folk was born in Newberry County, a daughter of the late Jacob L. and Effie Counts Dickert. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and the Clvin Crozier Chapter, UDC.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Trice and Mrs. Anna Hawkins, both of Newberry; one brother, Forrest W. Dickert of Newberry; two granddaughters, Mrs. Beth Sparks of Greensboro, N.C. and Miss Lisa Folk, of Charlotte, N.C.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by Rev. Charles Nanney. Interment was in Rosemont Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Dr. Elbert J. Dickert, Billie Windhorn, Carl Ringer, P. K. Fuller, Ray Dickert, and Hamilton Folk. Whitaker Funeral Home was in charge.

Carrie Mae Lindler Frick

Mrs. W. J. Frick of Chapin Dies Wednesday

Mrs. Carrie Mae Lindler Frick, 77, wife of Walter J. Frick of Route One, Chapin, died early Wednesday morning at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital after a week's critical illness. Mrs. Frick was born and reared in Newberry county, a daughter of the late Wesley and Jean Boland Lindler. She spent most of her life in Lexington County, where she was a member of St. Peter's (Pineywoods) Lutheran Church and a life member of United Lutheran Church Women.

She is survived by her husband, Walter J. Frick; three sons, David W. and Carroll Leon Frick, both of Chapin, and Claude Richard Frick of Irmo; four daughters, Mrs. Virgil (Gertie) Fulmer, Miss Evangeline Frick, and Mrs. Sam (Nellie) Stoudemire, all of Chapin, and Mrs. Curtis (Mattie Lee) Martin of Prosperity; one sister, Mrs. Josne Amick of Chapin; three brothers, Clarence O. Lindler of Greenwood, Elton and Carl Lindler, both of Little Mountain; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today (Thursday) at St. Peter's (Pineywoods) Lutheran Church by Rev. John D. Zeigler and Rev. J. S. Wessinger. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be the grandsons. Honorary escort will be members of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Council, Dr. B. M. Montgomery and Dr. W. W. King Jr.

Lillie Fulmer
PROSPERITY - Services for Lillie Mae Barrett Fulmer, 84, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Macedonia Lutheran Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Fulmer, widow of Eddie Leroy Fulmer, died May 10, 2002. Born in Chapin, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Elvira Dailey Barrett. Mrs. Fulmer was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church, the Goldies, and the Petrea Circle.

Surviving are her sons, James Fulmer, Heyward Fulmer, Wayne Fulmer, and Eddie Fulmer, all of Prosperity; daughter, Dianne Vining of West Columbia; brother, Charlie Claude Barrett of Mount Pleasant; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by son, Jerry Fulmer.

Miss Berdell Fuller - contributed by Dean Long
NEWBERRY- Miss Berdell S. Fuller, 78, died Friday at Newberry County Memorial hospital. Born in Richland County, she was the daughter of the late W.G. and George Ann Amick Fuller. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Blanche Watson of Charlotte, N.C., a brother, Glenn Fuller of Mineral, Calif., an several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Capers? Chapel United Methodist Church, with burial in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that those who wish may make contributions to the Capers? Chapel United Methodist Church. Margaret Feagle
Mrs. Margaret Feagle died at her home near Pomaria, the 1st instant (June 1, 1878), in the 69th year of her age. Mrs. Feagle was the mother of nine children, one of them Mrs. U. B. White, and the grandmother of twenty-eight. She was buried at St. Paul's of which Church she had long been a faithful member.

Armanda Fair
Mrs. Armanda Fair, wife of the Rev. Robert A. Fair, who for several years was pastor of the Presbyterian church at this place (Newberry), died at the home of her son, the Rev. James Y. Fair in Richmond, on the 17th inst. The Rev. James Y. Fair, her son, is quite a well known divine, only recently having received a call in the Independent church of Savannah, one of the oldest churches in this country, being situated on land granted by George II. It is thought he will accept the call.

Simeon Fair, Colonel
Col. Simeon Fair, died at Glenn Springs So. Ca. July 15th, 1873, from an attack of Diarrhoea. The writer has known the deceased citizen for many years notice hereunto attached from the Columbia Phoenix [p.154] [clipping] Colonel Simeon Fair, a distinguished citizen and eminent lawyer, departed this life, on the 15th instant, at Glenn Springs, from an attack of diarrhoea. His remains were carried to Newberry yesterday, where they will be interred to-day. He was elected Solicitor of the Middle Circuit in 1846, which position he occupied until 1868 - nearly a quarter of a century. Colonel Fair was in his seventy-third year, having been born in Newberry District in April, 1801. He leaves three sons, one daughter and a host of relatives, friends and neighbors.

Pearlee Fulmer
WEST COLUMBIA - Service for Pearlee Able Fulmer, 75, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in Capers Chapel United Methodist Church, Little Mountain, with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Chiles and the Rev. Charles Brookshire. Visitation will be 5-7 today at Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of one's choice.

Mrs. Fulmer, wife of the late Karl Louis Fulmer, died Friday, July 20, 2001. Born in Aiken County, she was the daughter of the late George L. and Ida Spradley Able. She was formerly employed with the Moore Orthopaedic Clinic.

Surviving are sons, Larry K. Fulmer and his wife, Hume L. Fulmer of Elgin, Wendell E. Fulmer of West Columbia and L. Craig Fulmer and his wife, Laurie B. Fulmer of Lexington; grandchildren, Karlynn and Harrison Fulmer; sister, Mrs. Murray (Irene) Bundrick; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, George William Able.

John Floyd
POMARIA - Services for John V. Floyd, of 5179 SC Highway 34, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the Graham Family Cemetery. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at St. Matthew Lutheran Church from 5-7 p.m. Friday. Mr. Floyd died Tuesday, November 20, 2001, in Dorn V.A. Medical Center. Born in Silverstreet, he was a son of Mrs. Alice Pearsall Floyd and the late Barney Wyatt Floyd. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a retired employee of Daniel Construction Company, a member of American Legion Post 24 and a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He was a volunteer with Consolidated Fire Department No. 5.

Surviving are his mother; wife of 57 years, Mrs. Dorothy Annette Graham Floyd; sons, John V. Floyd Jr. of Columbia, Wilbur W. Floyd, Randall Graham Floyd both of Pomaria, Curtis P. Floyd of Newberry; sisters, Helen Floyd Saye of Saluda, Constance Floyd Sletten of Waphton, N.D.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandchild and a great grandchild.

Death of Capt. M. H. Fair - By a letter just received from Kansas, we are pained to learn that Capt. Milton H. Fair, of the Newberry company of emigrants, died at Leavenworth city on the 3d inst. - Newberry Mirror.

Katharine B. Floyd
Newberry Katharine B. Floyd, 82, widow of John Reuben Floyd Sr., of Presbyterian Home, Clinton, died Sunday, June 3, 2001. Born in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Gaston F. and Sallie Davenport Boozer. Member: Smyrna Presbyterian Church. Survivors: Sons, Rooney Floyd of Aiken, Gaston Floyd and Yancy Floyd, both of Newberry a sister, Myrtle B. Martin, of Newberry and five grandchildren. Service: 11 a.m. today at Smyrna Presbyterian Church. Burial: Church cemetery. Jerry Fulmer

Mr. Fulmer died February 15, 2002. Born in Prosperity, he was a son of Lillie Mae Barrett Fulmer and the late Eddie Leroy "Bill" Fulmer. Mr. Fulmer was a military veteran, having trained at the San Diego Naval Base, where he then served aboard the USS Montrose from 1961-64. He retired from Naval Construction Forces as a chief utilitiesman in 1991. Mr. Fulmer retired from the SC Department of Corrections in 2001, worked part-time at Sears in the Columbiana Mall, and was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church. He was a recipient in 1989 and 1993 of the Newberry County Little Red Schoolhouse Award, a pressbox spotter for 25 years at Mid-Carolina football games, a former head BBQ cook for the Mid-Carolina Band Boosters, Fairview Fire Department, and occasionally the Lake Murray Rescue Squad. Mr. Fulmer was co-founder and president of the Carolina SeaBee Reunion Association, a retired member of the Fairview Fire Department, and a member of Masonic Lodge #281.

Surviving are his mother of Prosperity; wife, Yvonne "Vonnie" Marie Gothier Fulmer; sons and daughter-in-law, Danny Fulmer and Billy (Claudia) Fulmer, all of Garland, Texas; daughters and son-in-law, Wendy Furstenberg and Christy Ann Fulmer, both of Columbia, Jenny (Timothy) Hall of Aiken; brothers and sisters- in-law, James Fulmer, Heyward (Carol) Fulmer, Wayne (Kathy) Fulmer, and Eddie (Debby) Fulmer, all of Prosperity; sister and brother-in-law, Dianne (Wayne) Vining of West Columbia; grandchildren, Mary Furstenberg, Amanda Furstenberg, Joseph Furstenberg, David Furstenburg, and Jordan Hall.

Henry Thomas Farr
Little Mountain - Henry Thomas Farr, 77, died Monday at his home after a long illness. Mr. Farr was a native of Newberry County, a son of the late George and Mamie Stockman Farr. He was a retired mechanic. Service will be held today at 3:30 p.m. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Eunice Amick Farr; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Shoren of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Miss Ellie Farr of Little Mountain; a son, Howard T. Farr of Irmo; two brothers, John D. and Boyd Farr of Little Mountain; and a sister, Mrs. Henry Fulmer of Little Mountain. McSwain Funeral Home is in charge.

Hattie Riggs O'Dell Ferguson
Hattie Riggs O'Dell Ferguson, 95, formerly of 1307 Kinard St., died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002.  Survivors:  daughters, Frances O. Bannister, Elizabeth O. Sligh and Martha F. Clarence Fulmer

Mr. Fulmer died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999. Born in Chapin, he was a son of the late Thomas and Emma Frick Fulmer. He was a member of Cedar Grove Lutheran Church, and retired as a truck driver from R.H. Smith Lumber Co. He was also a farmer. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise Swygert Fulmer.  Surviving are his brother, Curtis N. Fulmer of Ward; a number of nieces and nephews.

Lillie Folk
NEWBERRY - Lillie Mae Folk, 82, of 1421 Wheeler Street, Newberry, died Thursday April 7, 2005, at her residence.

Miss Folk was born August 28, 1922, in Newberry, a daughter of the late Christian Milton and Lily May Caldwell Brown Folk. She was a life long member of Beth-Eden Lutheran Church, a member of the church choir, an officer of the WELCA and served on various committees of the church. She had retired from J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Miss Folk is survived by a sister, Mary F. Lominick of Pomaria; eight nieces and nephews, Olin Lominick, Jr., Jane L. Ringer, Bobby F. Lominick, Chris F. Lominick, Dianne Lominick, M. Hayne Folk, J. Wayne Folk, and J. David Folk; a number of great-nieces and nephews; and a number of great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Hamilton Folk, James D. Brown, and R. Haskell Brown and a sister, Sarah Adelaide Folk.

Funeral services for Lillie Mae Folk will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Beth-Eden Lutheran Church by the Rev. Rodney Gunter. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

R. Samuel Franklin
NEWBERRY - Services for R. Samuel "Sam" Franklin, 71, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Beth-Eden Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 this evening at Whitaker Funeral Home.

Mr. Franklin died Monday in Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late Benjamin Giffin and Augustus Danzler Franklin. He was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army, a Mason and a member of Beth-Eden Lutheran Church.

Surviving are brothers, Buford, Daniel Franklin; nieces and nephews; dear friend, Mary B. Summer.

John S. Fair
Cokesbury, June 16 - John S. Fair died at his late residence on Thursday morning in the 60th year of his age. His remains were carried to Newberry on Friday accompanied by his wife, his daughters, Miss Lillie and Mrs. T. N. Gaines, and his sons, J. S. and Herndon Fair, where the interment took place in Rosemont cemetery.

For the past 16 years Mr. Fair has been in declining health. Five years of the time he has been a physical wreck, and almost helpless.

Mr. Fair graduated with distinction in Washington and Lee university in 1873. He afterwards practiced law at Newberry with his brother-in-law, Y. J. Pope. He was for 18 years the treasurer of the city council of Newberry, and also held the position of trial justice, and was for eight years postmaster of Cokesbury.

He married Miss Hannie Herndon, a daughter of Col. B. Z. Herndon of Cokesbury, and leaves surviving him his wife and the following children: J. Sims, Herndon and Miss Lillie Fair and Mrs. Tn N. Gaines.

W. B. Franklin
Newberry, Aug. 6 –
Mr. W. B. Franklin, who during the Civil war was a member of Company B., First South Carolina regiment, and a brave and faithful soldier, dropped dead at his home in the county yesterday afternoon. Mr. Franklin has attended every general reunion of Confederate veterans for the past 10 or 12 years. He was about 70 years of age. His remains were buried at Rosemont cemetery this afternoon.

Elizabeth Fant
HOUSTON - Graveside services for Elizabeth DuBose Fant, 56, will be held at 2 p.m. today in Silverstreet Lutheran Church Cemetery, with the Rev. H. Wyman Dowd officiating. A memorial service was held December 30, 2001, at Memorial Drive Lutheran Church, Houston, Texas, with the Rev. Sam Koenning officiating. Ms. Fant died December 27, 2001. Born in Newberry in 1945, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Maffett Fant Sr. and Edna DuBose Fant. Ms. Fant was a registered nurse and worked in Greenville and Houston.

Surviving are her sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn (Allen) Thames of Houston, Edna Earle F. (the Rev. H. Wyman) Dowd of Prosperity; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Maffett (Shirley) Fant Jr. of Silverstreet; nieces; nephews.

Travis W. Floyd
Newberry Travis W. Floyd, 30, of 2509 Henry Ave., Newberry, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Floyd was born on Jan. 11, 1973, in Newberry, a son of William W. "Bill" and Judy Ann Watts Floyd. He was employed by Newberry Industries and a member of Silverstreet Lutheran Church. Mr. Floyd is survived his parents, of Newberry a brother, Troy J. Floyd, of Silverstreet and maternal grandmother, Martha A. Watts, of Newberry.

Funeral services for Travis W. Floyd will be conducted 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Silverstreet Lutheran Church by the Rev. Floyd Sides and the Rev. Robert McCollum. Eddie Fulmer

Mr. Fulmer died Wednesday, January 12, 2000 at Providence Hospital. Born in Prosperity, he was a son of the late William Eddie and Rebecca Elizabeth Connelly Fulmer. He was a retired employee of Kendall Company, Oakland Plant, and was a farmer. He was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church, where he was a member of the Goldies and a life member of Lutheran Men. He formerly served on the Church Council.  Surviving are his wife, Lillie Mae Barrett Fulmer; sons, James L., Heyward E., J. Wayne, Jerry R., and Eddie C. Fulmer, all of Prosperity; daughter, Dianne F. Vining of West Columbia; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Grady Ware Force

SILVERSTREET - Edna Havird Fly, 96, of 268 Lake Forest Drive, Spartanburg, widow of Edward Leroy Fly, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospital.  
She was born on April 1, 1912 in Silverstreet to the late Benjamin Mayer and Maggie Susan Long Havird.   Mrs. Fly was retired from Green Textile and was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church of Spartanburg.  She is survived by three sons, Edward Leroy Fly of Warner Robins, Ga., John Mayer Fly and Thomas Havird Fly, both of Spartan-burg; a sister, Mildred Havird Vincent of Ft. Belvoir, Va.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Emma Fellers

Surviving are her son, Eddie Fellers of Charleston; daughter, Mary Jane Dailey of Forest City, N.C.; sisters, Eva "Pearlie" Lewis of Smyrna, Tenn. and Louise Werts of Newberry; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild.

Charles Edward Fulmer
World War II Army Veteran

NEWBERRY - Charles Edward Fulmer, 82, of Newberry died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006.

Born in Chapin, he was a son of the late Murray Oscar and Mary Jane F. Fulmer. He was a World Ward II Army veteran, and was a retired textile industry consultant. Mr. Fulmer was a member of Colony Lutheran Church where he served in the Lutheran Men in Mission, the Colony Friendship Group and was a Congregational Councilman. He was also a member of the Newberry Lions Club, the Bush River Young Farmers, the Bush River Athletic Association and the Jalapa Hunting Club.

He was twice married, first to the late Helen Corley Fulmer and secondly to Mrs. Roxanne Long Fulmer, who survives. He is also survived by: three daughters, Mrs. Judith F. Chapman of Union, Mrs. Don (Kathy) Morgan Sr. of Pauline and Mrs. Dale (Joyce) Wicker of Newberry; two step-sons, James T. (Crystal) Long of El Paso, Texas and Rodney (Amy) Long of Georgetown; a stepdaughter, Penny Hamm of Prosperity; a sister, Mrs. Gerry (Rudine) Hodges of Newberry; a brother, Heyward (Doris) Fulmer of Saluda; eight grandchildren, Dana Chapman, Charles E. Chapman and wife DeLisa, Andrew Chapman and wife Jennifer, Ryan Wicker, Austin Wicker, Rachel Wicker, Don Morgan Jr. and wife Johanna and Tressa Hasking and husband Robert. He was predeceased by brothers, James Fulmer, Leon Fulmer, Carlisle Fulmer and Harold Fulmer; sisters Leona F. Motley and Althea Barsamian and a grandson, Charles Hunter Chapman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Colony Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jerry Trantham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Fulmer
NEWBERRY - Funeral services for Elizabeth "Bessie" Paysinger Fulmer, 93, of Newberry, SC, will be conducted by The Rev. Floyd Sides on Sunday, May 25, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. at Colony Lutheran Church, Newberry. Interment will follow in the church cemetery after which the family will receive friends in the Church Fellowship Hall. Visitation will be held Saturday from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fulmer died Thursday, May 22, 2003, after a brief illness. Born on October 18, 1909, in Newberry, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Robertson and Sara Summer Paysinger. She was married to the late Harold Carland Fulmer. Mrs. Fulmer was a graduate of Newberry High School and Newberry College. She taught at Hartford Grade School and, later, taught math and was chairperson of the math department at Mid-Carolina High School until her retirement.

Mrs. Fulmer was a life-long member of Colony Lutheran Church where she was active in the Sunday School program and the WELCA. She regularly attended evening bible study sessions that were taught by the pastor. After her retirement she enjoyed quilting and gardening. She crocheted many beautiful and useful pieces. Her favorite pastimes involved cooking and providing for her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth F. and Allen S. Hawkins, of Lugoff, and four sons and daughters-in-law: Robert C. and Bettye H. Fulmer, Harold M. and Lynne M. Fulmer, and Carol P. and Susan H. Fulmer all of Newberry, and Karl E. and Georgie Faye G. Fulmer of Chapin. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and four step great-grandchildren. Mrs. Fulmer is also survived by one sister, Miss Mary Nell Paysinger.

Eva Fulmer
CHAPIN -- Eva Kelly Shealy Fulmer, 82, of Birchtrace Court died Thursday, May 30, 1996, at Richland Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Newberry County. She was the widow of Clarence R. Shealy.  She was the former owner and operator of Chapin Beauty Shop and was a member of Mount Horeb Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband, H. Bernard Fulmer; a son, James B. Shealy of Myrtle Beach; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Mount Horeb Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Whitaker Funeral Home of Chapin is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Mount Horeb Lutheran Church.

Adelaide Fulmer

Mrs. Fulmer died April 27, 2004 at her residence. Born in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late George Lemuel and Ida Fulmer Wise. Mrs. Fulmer was a 1927 graduate of O'Neil High School, attended Summerland College from 1927 - 1929 and graduated from Newberry College in 1931. She taught school from 1931-1934 at Stoney Hill in Prosperity, in Pelzer from 1934-1935, Bethesda, MD from 1942-1943, Charlottsville, VA from 1951-1953, Decatur City Schools in GA from 1953-1963, Lexington, KY from 1963-1967 and retired from Dekalb County Schools in GA in 1978 after teaching from 1967-1978. She had a teaching career of 32 years.

Mrs. Fulmer was predeceased by her husband of 53 years in 1989, John Leonard Fulmer. She moved to White Rock in March, 1991 after living in Avondale Estates, GA from 1967.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, John Leonard and Kathy Fulmer of Chapin and June and Clyde Fortson of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, John C. Fortson of Chicago, IL, John L. Fulmer III of Chapin, Anne F. Jenkins of Nashville, TN and Elizabeth A. Fulmer of Greenville; great-grandchildren, Emily Adelaide Jenkins and Kathryn C. Jenkins.
