 Last Will and Testament of Henry Pitts

South Carolina, Newberry District

In the name of God Amen I Henry Pitts, Sr. of the State and Destrect aforesd Being Sick of Body But in Sound & perfect memory & Calling to mind the Mortalith of my Body & Knowing it is appointed for all men once to die & after Death to Come to Judgement I Therefore Recommend my body to the Earth & my soul to God who gave it & us to my Temporal Estate which it hath pleased God to Bestow on me I give & Despose of as Followeth (VIZ) First of all my will is that all my just debts & Funeral Charges Be paid out of my Estate. Secondly I give and Bequeathe unto my Son John Pitts five Shillings Sterling. I also give & Bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Dodgen Five Shillings Sterling. I also give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Jane Butler five Shillings Sterling. I also give and Bequeathe unto my Son William Pitts five Shillings Sterling. I also Give and Bequeathe unto my Son Mark Pitts five Shillings Sterling. I also give and Bequeathe unto my son Henry Pitts five Shillings Sterling. I also give and Bequeathe unto my son Jofsph Pitts five Shillings Sterling. I also give and Bequeathe unto my Son Charles Pitts five Shillings Sterling. I also give and Bequeathe unto my loving wife Hannah Pitts Sixty Seven Acres of land more Or Lefs on which I now live as also all my movable Estate during her natural life or widowhood & after her Decease or Widowhood. I give and Bequeathe unto my two daughters (VIZ) Nancy Slaughter & Sealah Pitts all my Estate both Real and Personal to be equally divided between them two I also constitute and appoint my firiend-- Ambrose Hudgens to be my sole executor to act for me & in my behalf. After my decease in all things according to law this being my Last Will & Testament disannuling all other former wills & ratifying & confirming this alone in Witnefs whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 4th day of June 1803.

NB In Consequence if either of my Two daughters should die namely Nancey Slaughter & Shealah Pitts before marriage then the other to Haye the above mentioned Estate both Real & Personal signed sealed & delivered in presents of test.
