In the name of God Amen. I Joshua Pitts being of sound and disposing mind and memory but weak of body and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to blefs me with do make and ordain this my last will in the manner following that is to say- It is my will and desire that my beloving wife Matilda Pitts shall have the hold of my estate real and personally for the purpose of schooling and closing of my children during her life or widowhood at her marriage or death I wish the hole of my estate to be sold and equitably divided between my beloved wife Matilda Pitts and my three children, Delton Pinckney and the younger one not named. My will is that my executors have the power to dispose of this place and a negro Gearl Cold bett and a negro woman named Jin for the purpose of getting another place for my family and two plow boys if there should be so much money left from the sale of my land and negroes above named as I think this place not healthy, and a place of lefs value would do them and the title of the place that they may so purchase and the negroes to be considered as part of my estate. And lastly
I do constitute and appoint my beloving uncle Abraham Waldrop and my
beloving brother Caleb Pitts my executors of this my last will and
testament by me heretofore made in testimony whereof I have set my hand
and affixed my seal this fourth February and in the year
1825.
